Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 99: Chapter 97: First Kill (7/93)

Watching the Walrus Tomb charge at him once more, Gu Xi showed no hesitation as he stomped heavily on the coffin lid, ”Go!”

The Evil Coffin shifted direction immediately, charging toward the man draped in white baboon skin in the distance.

Gu Xi had already realized that this was the real formidable enemy. The Walrus Tomb was just large, but not actually very lethal.

As long as he could keep the man occupied, Gu Xi’s Skeleton Shooters could deal with him.

Not to mention, Gu Xi also commanded ten Ghosts, who were least afraid of this kind of powerful physical attacks; even if it took dragging him, ten Ghosts could drag this guy to death.

Not to mention Luna was still there.

For this reason, Gu Xi paid no attention to the Walrus Tomb chasing him from behind, charging straight at the seemingly special enemy.

Seeing Gu Xi charge over, the man’s face flashed with a hint of disdain. Charging at him with only Level 3, did Gu Xi really take strong opponents lightly?

Didn’t he know that Level 5 was a pivotal threshold for all professions?

The man didn’t even plan to attack voluntarily; he only raised his left hand, holding something that looked like a brain.

’Spirit...’

The man was just about to use his equipped skill when he realized Gu Xi was also ready to strike; the Evil Coffin was charging straight at the man, while Gu Xi pointed his Shattering Staff like a magic wand at him.

Simultaneously, he took out a Blue Magic Potion Bottle with his left hand and placed it in his mouth.

”Death Incarnation!”

As soon as Gu Xi uttered these words, black fog shot out from his Shattering Staff.

A black Bone Dragon was curled up within the fog, moving at the speed that the Death Incarnation could charge at its fastest.

The man didn’t expect Gu Xi to unleash such a powerful move now; he had thought Gu Xi would just summon a city and be done with it.

When the black Bone Dragon was about to reach him, the man realized his prepared skill had been cast directly on the Death Incarnation.

However, the man had prepared a skill for the spirit realm, intending originally to control Gu Xi and have him run to the Walrus Tomb to meet his doom.

Now, even changing skills was too late, and the man decisively stowed away the brain-like object in his left hand, darting to the side.

He had already realized that the Death Incarnation was Level 11, and dodging such an enemy was not disgraceful.

But the man never expected that the strongest attack from the Death Incarnation was not transforming into black fog to charge forward.

As the man dodged, the Death Incarnation opened its mouth, spraying out a green beam of light, which then swept horizontally.

’Death Dragon Breath!’

As the beam sprayed out, harrowing screams filled the green light.

The man dodged quickly enough, but not as fast as the speed of light.

As the beam’s horizontal sweep occurred, the man, who had just come to a stop, was struck directly by the beam.

He immediately raised his scythe, waving it continuously.

But soon the man found himself unable to withstand it; just three or four seconds in contact with the green beam had landed at least four different curses on him.

Each curse’s effect was random, with varying strength.

The man’s luck was exceptionally bad; among the four curses, three were major ones.

[Weak and Powerless (Level 3), all cursed individuals’ power decreases by 75%, attack power decreases by 50%, life force decreases by 25%.]

[Amnesia Technique (Level 4), all cursed individuals cannot use ranged attacks, magic attacks have a 50% failure rate.]

[Evil Curse Possession (Level 1), all cursed individuals’ attack power decreases by 25%.]

[Chaotic Thoughts (Level 5), all cursed individuals have a 75% chance to experience chaos, mistaking attack targets or making errors in dodging direction.]

The first three curses were manageable, but the Chaotic Thoughts curse greatly impacted the man.

The effect of this curse was to act contrary to one’s intentions.

For instance, if planning to punch with the left fist, the brain might misfire, resulting in a kick with the right leg instead.

Or, if intending to launch a Fireball Skill, a mental glitch might result in the fireball striking oneself instead.

Just like this instance, the man was clearly aware of the curse’s effect.

So, he planned to retreat and move out of the green beam’s range first.

The man realized that the green beam’s intensity wasn’t as evident anymore; enduring for another five or six seconds, the beam would disappear, giving him a chance to counterattack.

But just as he was about to retreat, his foot, inexplicably, propelled him forward, while his scythe swept backward.

This sweep exposed his head and face, allowing the green beam to strike him directly in the face.

As this attack landed, the man finally cried out.

The Death Dragon Breath appeared as a beam of light but was actually an attack combining both magic and death effects, qualifying as a Dragon Breath attack.

The man’s life force was relatively strong, yet under the Dragon Breath assault, he lasted only three seconds before being sent flying backward.

As he flew, the white baboon skin on him tore away, revealing a body covered in tattoos underneath.

This was also evident only because Gu Xi was at a distance; if he were closer, he would have noticed the tattoos weren’t inked onto the skin but cut from others’ tattooed skin and stitched onto the man’s body.

Now, with his baboon skin gone, the stitched-together skin also showed signs of tearing apart.

The man still yearned to struggle, as his life hadn’t completely depleted, and the Death Incarnation’s Death Dragon Breath had already exhausted its energy, leaving him with a chance.

But just as the man was about to retrieve a Life Potion for self-healing, the Death Incarnation charged over, biting the man’s body and wrenching it, slicing him in two in an instant.

In a single move, the man was cut in half at the waist.

With this, the life in this man’s body completely vanished. His eyes rolled back, and his upper body fell onto the ice, instantly dying beyond recovery.

Before Gu Xi, driving the Evil Coffin over, could even act, in just a few seconds a voice sounded in his ears.

[Death Incarnation (spell component) has slain the Otherworldly Ghost Boss (Level 9), you received 5455 Experience Points.]

”Level 9?” Only now did Gu Xi realize the level of the man slain by the Death Incarnation.

He was still startled by the situation before him.

What surprised him even more was the excessive amount of Experience this time. Over five thousand Experience Points; in one go, he had completed half of the Experience needed to reach Level 4.

At this moment, the motion of the Walrus Tomb, besieged by the Ghosts, noticeably paused.

It never expected such a formidable Other Ghost to fall in just mere seconds.

Now Gu Xi noticed the Walrus Tomb, pointing in its direction.

”Kill it.”
