Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 79: Chapter 77: Securing the Boundary Tower

Within the Pier District, the appearance of black specters immediately caught Gu Xi and his team’s attention.

Gu Xi didn’t want them to suddenly rush into his battle, so he glanced at the Death Incarnation chasing the remaining enemies in the Boundary Tower and decisively commanded.

”Death Incarnation, go, stop them!”

The Death Incarnation heard this, looked up in the direction Gu Xi pointed, lowered its head, and turned into black smoke rushing toward the enemies.

Regarding the Death Incarnation’s way of moving, Gu Xi felt a bit helpless. In many ways, the Death Incarnation resembled the Bone Dragon, with its destructive and unique black smoke transformation.

Every time he saw it, it felt as though everything the Death Incarnation flew over would be destroyed.

It always made Gu Xi want to remind it not to blow up its territory every time it flew.

Thankfully, the Death Incarnation could control this power, and each flight didn’t cause much destruction, not even when impacting the enemies, which reassured Gu Xi a lot.

Looking at the Death Incarnation again, there was a sense of helplessness in his heart, being unlike a Bone Dragon.

Gu Xi never expected that when the Death Incarnation charged at the black specters, it would change its style. It pulled back its nearly skinless wings and shrunk its body into a ball, diving forward like a peregrine falcon.

In the places the Death Incarnation passed, the black specters’ bodies were sucked up, turned into black smoke, and absorbed into the Death Incarnation.

This situation startled Gu Xi.

He didn’t expect the Death Incarnation to have such a skill.

So Gu Xi hurriedly called the Death Incarnation back.

”What happened just now, you can absorb the specters’ power?”

The Death Incarnation understood Gu Xi’s words, but the problem was it couldn’t answer his question.

After all, even the Death Incarnation didn’t know what it was transformed from. Its language system wasn’t complete, only able to passively accept commands without being able to communicate.

Faced with this situation, Gu Xi felt a bit helpless.

At this moment, another batch of black specters rushed out from the Pier District, and Gu Xi could only wave his hand, sending the Death Incarnation to intercept them.

With the Death Incarnation resisting the common black specters coming from the Pier District, Luna’s side of the battle became much easier.

Although she couldn’t chase the enemy commander, the enemy commander couldn’t stop to command the battle. This made it easy for the Skeleton Soldiers to tackle the already militarized black specters.

The four different fighting styles of Skeleton Soldiers surprisingly combined well, and now Combat Squad 3’s shield-bearing Skeleton Soldiers no longer defended but directly charged forward.

Whenever they saw a black specter rushing over, they attacked first, regardless of whether the enemy attacked or not, using Shield Strike to repel and knock down the enemy.

Next was for Combat Squad 2, these Skeleton Soldiers were the strongest in close combat attack power among all the Skeleton Soldiers. Not only their team level was higher by 1 level than other combat squads, but their weapons had also undergone multiple enhancements.

In previous battles, they had experienced many large-scale battles, and all Skeleton Soldiers’ experience was plentiful.

Additionally, they required the least space among themselves, unlike those wielding two-handed swords, who would need space to avoid striking their comrades.

Four or five of them would gather together, attacking simultaneously and could accurately hit the same target.

Once they locked onto a target, there was no escape from their attack. Often, once the four or five attacks landed, the specter would be killed on the spot.

The specters rushing up next could not break through the shield-bearing Skeleton Soldiers’ defense, only initiating a second wave of attacks.

After three waves like this, the number of black specters rushing increased less and less, and the area the Deceitful Shadow Boss could move in kept shrinking.

Finally, the Deceitful Shadow Boss was cornered by Luna. At this point, the Deceitful Shadow Boss finally displayed its strong defense power. Once surrounded, it couldn’t escape at all, so it clasped its hands and hardened its entire body.

The original specter appeared like black mist, but this Deceitful Shadow Boss turned into a black crystal as soon as it turned around.

This increased its defense power considerably.

The Ghosts’ attacks on the Deceitful Shadow Boss had little effect.

However, the Deceitful Shadow Boss didn’t realize that it wasn’t just ghosts here.

Luna was also present, and she had learned attacking techniques for crystalline forms.

Previously crystalline foes met their end under Luna’s Banshee Wail.

This time was no different; as soon as the Deceitful Shadow Boss transformed into a crystal, Luna immediately began her shrill scream.

The pitch climbed from low to high and finally locked into a frequency.

Initially, the Deceitful Shadow Boss felt nothing, but as Luna’s scream persisted, the Deceitful Shadow Boss noticed something wrong.

It wanted to stop Luna’s scream, but it was too late, cracks began appearing all over its body.

The Deceitful Shadow Boss panicked at this sight, trying quickly to shift back into mist form, but by this time, the Ghosts had already pounced on the Deceitful Shadow Boss turning into mist before them.

For the Ghosts, their attack power was much stronger against such semi-mist forms.

Under the Ghosts’ assault, the Deceitful Shadow Boss’s body was swiftly torn apart.

This forced the Deceitful Shadow Boss to revert to its crystal state to continue enduring Luna’s attack.

At this moment, the Skeleton Soldiers of Combat Squad 1 had also rushed over. They held no purpose on the normal specter side as those numbers were already very low.

The rest no longer formed a battle array, so the Skeleton Soldiers of Combat Squad 1 charged over.

Reaching the Deceitful Shadow Boss, they lifted their swords continuously, activating their slashing skills one after another.

For the Skeleton Soldiers of Combat Squad 1, the slaying skill was made for moments like this, regardless of a failed kill.

If a slaying skill succeeded, even the strongest enemy would be instantly defeated.

As so many Skeleton Soldiers took turns, despite a low kill success rate, it would still be more than enough.

With each Skeleton Soldier stepping forward with a raised sword and then retreating to prepare again, the Deceitful Shadow Boss could finally no longer withstand it.

On the twenty-first slaying of the Deceitful Shadow Boss, Gu Xi heard a ding sound by his ear.
