Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 59: Chapter 57: Sacred Artifact from Fairy Tales

Gu Xi’s words seemed to hit the Old Goblin’s weakness, prompting him to secure the Magic Sand Table quite earnestly.

”How long will it take to finish?”

Once everything was confirmed, Gu Xi didn’t hold back with the Old Goblin and directly asked.

”Tomorrow, it will be ready by tomorrow.”

The Old Goblin said with great satisfaction regarding this matter, ”Don’t worry, although we work fast, we never compromise on quality. If you don’t see a completed building by this time tomorrow, you can come here and give me a hard time, and I’ll compensate you with this entire shop.”

Gu Xi glanced at the Old Goblin one more time, then quickly pulled out a piece of parchment from the Old Goblin’s shop, scribbling a few lines on it as the Old Goblin screamed wanting to settle accounts with Gu Xi.

’Confirm that during the period from XX date on X month X year, workers entered to construct the building for one day, as evidence to ensure safety.’

After finishing writing, Gu Xi handed the parchment to the Old Goblin.

”Have your workers carry this while they work, or else if they die on my turf, I’m not paying for it.”

The Old Goblin was also quite shrewd, and with just a glance, he knew Gu Xi must have set up something on his territory, so he didn’t mind saying anything else to Gu Xi, and just rolled the parchment and turned to give orders.

With the most important matters clarified, Gu Xi no longer lingered in this shabby house of the Old Goblin.

Staying here any longer, Gu Xi felt like he was about to get flavored.

Upon leaving the Old Goblin’s territory, Shaya, who had been standing outside, promptly followed and quickly came up behind Gu Xi.

Gu Xi looked back at Shaya with a glance, instantly recognizing the mutual understanding between them.

Whenever Gu Xi needed, Shaya would always appear by his side.

It seemed that since dying, Shaya’s temperament has changed a lot, and her previously reckless nature has been subdued.

Noticing Gu Xi looking back at her, Shaya also seemed puzzled and put her hand on her waist, glancing around.

Seeing Shaya’s reaction, Gu Xi smiled wryly.

After a brief laugh, Gu Xi slowly merged into the view of the small dock ahead.

Gu Xi noticed that besides the Old Goblin who had his own territory, most professionals who came here could only find a random place on the roadside to set up a stall.

And the items they displayed were quite similar to those in the flea market earlier, mainly mirrors with better quality.

Gu Xi just took a brief glance and noticed that most of the items for sale were white in color, unlike the flea market where most were gray trash.

Unfortunately, Gu Xi wasn’t flush with cash, and nothing particularly caught his attention here, so after wandering for half a day, he didn’t find anything notable.

Not even surpassing the three mirrors he bought before.

This left Gu Xi, who hoped to find a bargain, quite helpless.

It seemed that everyone here was a shrewd one, finding a good deal here required considerable time and effort.

If Gu Xi had that much time and energy, he’d rather find a place to fight monsters.

As Gu Xi was about to leave with Shaya, Shaya gently tapped his shoulder.

”Shaya, if you have something to say, just say it, don’t tap my shoulder; getting tapped by a ghost harms the Yang Qi.”

While saying this, Gu Xi looked towards where Shaya’s gaze was directed, noticing a rather inconspicuous stall where a human with a sly face wrapped himself in black torn cloth, crouching by the stall.

In front of him, laid over ten branches and sticks of varying thickness.

These branches and sticks were about a meter long, each with differing levels of unique aura fluctuations.

”What are these?”

”These are the branches I collected, good materials for making Sovereign’s Staffs, Civilization Staffs, or Magic Wands. I can assure you each has decent attributes, does the customer want to take one?”

Gu Xi glanced at Shaya, then reached out to pick up a branch that wasn’t too long.

As soon as the branch was in his hand, the human immediately said, ”Customer, you’re really amazing, picking the best branch here. This is Bone Healing Wood, 73 centimeters long, excellent for making a short Staff.”

However, Gu Xi ignored his words, as a string of information popped up before him.

[You acquired a Bone Healing Wood!]

[Bone Healing Wood (Green): A Bone Healing Wood imbued with magic power, suitable for making short Staffs, Magic Wands, or other weaponry and equipment.]

[Ding! While seeking materials, you inadvertently matched Shaya (Contracted Undead) with the trajectory of a fairy tale, activating a temporary quest!]

[Temporary Quest: Sacred Artifact in the Fairy Tale]

[Quest Description: Collect the Deathly Hallows and challenge the Death Incarnation!]

[Quest Requirements: Gather the Deathly Hallows (2/3), kill the Death Incarnation (0/1)]

[Quest Reward: Undead Mage Professional Skill - Death Incarnation.]

[Note 1: Depending on the collected Deathly Hallows, the summoned Death Incarnation could be real or fake, with varying degrees of strength, but killing it equals success.]

[Note 2: After completing the quest, the Death Incarnation summoned by the Undead Mage will be similar to the summoned Death Incarnation, with strength equal to Undead Mage Level +8.]

After skimming through the temporary quest conditions, Gu Xi lifted his hand and tossed the Bone Healing Wood to Shaya.

Upon receiving it, Shaya first twirled it in her hand, then swung it heavily a couple of times making a hammering motion, and finally said to Gu Xi.

”Master, this feels a bit light, but it could work well for a sap.”

Before Gu Xi could say anything, the human quickly chimed in, ”Customer, it’s alright if it feels light, there’s an iron shop just ahead where you can have it silver-clad for better grip.”

”Shaya, keep it.”

Gu Xi stopped Shaya from putting the Bone Healing Wood down, then turned to ask the stall owner.

”How much for this?”

”Customer, I carefully selected this from many trees.”

”Name a price.” Gu Xi cut off the boast, knowing that if he let it continue, he wouldn’t afford the thing.

”Ten pounds.” The vendor cautiously named a price.

Just as the vendor awaited negotiation, Gu Xi immediately handed over ten pounds of cash.

”Master, I usually use daggers, and this thing is useless to me. Also, it’s too expensive; you could easily get it for a pound or two at most.”

”Hold it for now; when we come across suitable materials, I’ll find a way to modify it for you. It’ll come in handy eventually.”

While Shaya didn’t understand why Gu Xi went out of his way to buy just one Bone Healing Wood, she still kept it since he said so.

At this moment, Gu Xi was pondering where to find the final Deathly Hallows, as it wasn’t practical to run around Victoria City forever.

After thinking it over, Gu Xi finally turned to Shaya.

”Shaya, do you know where one can find books on extraordinary or professional subjects?”

”Master, there is a specialized library in Victoria City, and a few renowned academies also have dedicated libraries. As long as you have connections, you can find those books. What kind of books are you looking for, Master?”

Gu Xi hesitated but ultimately responded, ”Fairy tales!”
