Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 52: Chapter 50: Resurrection Stone

The black-robed man responded quickly this time; he retreated backward, his body swiftly transforming into a shadow, preparing to turn into a shadow once more.

But Luna was right behind the black-robed man, not giving him any chance. Just as he turned into a shadow, she opened her mouth again and screamed at him.

The black-robed man hadn’t moved yet when he was jolted out of the shadow form by Luna’s scream.

Just then, Gu Xi’s Shattering Staff smashed into the head of the black-robed man, causing it to burst open on the spot.

Simultaneously, four or five Skeleton Soldiers grabbed the man’s limbs, preventing him from transforming into a shadow again. More Skeleton Soldiers wielding long spears and two-handed swords relentlessly slashed at the black-robed man’s body.

In the blink of an eye, the man’s body was cut into pieces like a ragged bag.

Yet, this black-robed man remained vicious; even after being beaten down from his strongest state to severe injury, he did not feel dejected but laughed heartily instead.

As he was being cut, his body once again turned into a shadow; however, this time the shadow appeared dark red.

Even Gu Xi, who had rushed to the front, could smell the strong scent of blood on this shadow.

Gu Xi felt something was amiss here.

”Luna, stop him!”

Luna screamed on the spot, but everything seemed too late.

Under the Banshee Wail, the shadow the black-robed man turned into was dispersed again, but as he fell to the ground, he laughed, raising his head weakly, staring at Gu Xi, blood continuously flowing from his mouth.

”You are doomed! You are doomed!”

Gu Xi still didn’t know what was wrong when Luna noticed a serious problem.

”The ring on his hand is gone.”

Gu Xi’s heart tightened, quickly looking at the right hand of the black-robed man. The stone ring that could summon blood water from the mansion and rapidly restore the man’s life was still there.

This puzzled Gu Xi briefly, but he quickly noticed that the black-robed man’s left hand seemed to be missing a finger.

Although Gu Xi didn’t know what had happened, he understood that he couldn’t let the black-robed man continue like this.

”Cut off his hand.”

A few Skeleton Soldiers rushed out, just about to chop the black-robed man’s arm, when the ground nearby began to shake.

The Skeleton Soldiers wanted to retreat to protect Gu Xi, but Gu Xi decisively said.

”Cut!”

Without a second thought, a Skeleton Soldier cut off the man’s arm on the spot.

Gu Xi stepped forward and kicked the arm aside, preventing the man from using the ring to restore his life again.

Afterward, the other Skeleton Soldiers moved in swiftly, quickly killing the black-robed man on the spot.

[Killed Twisted Mage (Old, Level 5), you gained 73 experience points, Contracted Undead earned 46 experience points from battle participation, all summoned creatures earned 6 experience points for aiding the kill.]

However, even until his death, the black-robed man carried a smile on his face.

This situation was rather eerie.

Meanwhile, as the black-robed man fell in battle, the ground’s tremor grew increasingly intense, causing the nearby mansion to start shaking.

Gu Xi couldn’t even take the time to deal with the man’s corpse; he just grabbed the severed arm and moved it aside.

[You have picked up Resurrection Stone (Fake, Blue) *1]

[Resurrection Stone (Fake, Blue): Mass-produced imitation of the Resurrection Stone sacred artifact. It can be used to revive corpses dead for no more than three hours (revival requires consuming an innocent’s life, and post-revival, a part of the body will be twisted, with this pain being eternal and unending)]

Looking at the ring in his hand, Gu Xi finally understood what had just happened; this was reviving oneself using someone else’s life.

These characters are indeed evil mages, no wonder they use such means to hide the mansion. If discovered by Victoria City people, they’d receive the same treatment as cultists.

Just as Gu Xi thought of this, suddenly raising his head, a giant antler emerged from the underground, knocking down half of the mansion on the spot.

Then a massive, grotesquely formed monstrous stag crawled out from underground.

This monstrous stag had more than half of its body made of stone, topped with short and long antlers, numbering at least seven, with the largest being two meters long, while even the shortest was one meter.

Many of these antlers bore flesh and innards, continuously dripping blood onto the stag’s face, making it appear very terrifying.

On the stag’s body, numerous odd, mixed things were growing, even showing clothes, weapons, flesh and bones on its belly.

No one could tell how such a monster was raised under the mansion.

Before Gu Xi could comprehend the creature’s emergence, the monstrous stag charged forward, smashing down the mansion that had already collapsed halfway.

As the monstrous stag took a step, Gu Xi’s Bone Spike, Luna’s Banshee Wail, and the remaining Skeleton Soldiers all faced the stag head-on.

Unlike the Twisted Mage who could turn into a shadow for rapid movement before, this monstrous stag had no fear of any attacks. Bone Spike struck its body, and even then, it didn’t care at all.

It withstood the Banshee Wail, and the Skeleton Soldiers didn’t bother looking, directly colliding, killing anyone in its path.

After a few exchanges, Gu Xi realized his Bone Spike wasn’t strong enough, so he immediately changed his attack approach, pointing at the freshly deceased Skeleton Soldier.

”Corpse Burst!”

The monstrous stag stepped on the Skeleton Soldier’s corpse, and the Corpse Burst explosion tore some of its body apart.

But Gu Xi was surprised to find that the monstrous stag didn’t care about such damage, still lowering its head and charging towards Gu Xi.

Gu Xi understood from the current situation that the damage dealt to the monstrous stag by his attack wasn’t significant.

Using Corpse Burst to kill this monstrous stag was almost impossible.

This meant Gu Xi couldn’t break through its defenses.

This was a situation Gu Xi hadn’t encountered before, making him uncertain about what to do.

At this moment, the monstrous stag fiercely bit a blocking Skeleton Soldier with its mouth.

Seeing this opportunity, Gu Xi pointed his hand towards the stag’s mouth, detonating the Skeleton Soldier, causing blood to splatter.

Yet, the monstrous stag seemed unbothered, continuing its attack without altering its approach.

Now, Gu Xi finally confirmed that his attack power meant little to the monstrous stag; to defeat it, other methods were needed.
