Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 67: Chapter 65: Promotion and Countermeasures

Lu Yongchang circled around Gu Xi, continuously extolling the virtues of Nether Bone Wind Academy, clearly hoping Gu Xi would remain, even if only as a graduate student.

Gu Xi, however, had no desire to do so at this moment.

When Lu Yongchang finally paused, Gu Xi spoke directly, ”Principal, I am a student who emerged from Nether Bone Wind. I inherently belong to Nether Bone Wind, and wherever I go in the future, I will always hold myself to the standards of a Nether Bone Wind student.”

”Good, truly a fine student of Nether Bone Wind. Now, who was it—oh, Man Xuebo, right? Prepare yourself. We are going to hold a graduation and awards ceremony to proudly announce that our Nether Wind has produced a great Dragon.”

With a pointed gesture at the previous Undead Mage, Lu Yongchang issued the command.

At this moment, the Undead Mage’s face froze, ”Principal, it’s just that...”

”What is it, can’t you do it?”

”No, Principal. It’s just that most of the current students have already joined various guilds. Bringing them back to participate in the ceremony and then re-ranking them will be quite troublesome.”

”What’s so troublesome about that? Just tell them we’ve brought forth Three Divine Skills this time and see if they’re willing to switch places.”

Lu Yongchang spoke with impressive confidence.

At this, Gu Xi quickly stepped forward, ”Principal, there’s no need to make it so complicated. I’ve delayed so long, and my classmates are anxious to get their diplomas without waiting for me. It’s very normal.

However, my comrades in Chaoyang Radiance Guild are willing to wait for me, and I must acknowledge that. Therefore, I don’t want to switch guilds. Principal, please adjust my ranking and give me the reward.

When it comes time to make the announcement, I think my achievements should make me a clear candidate for Chief.”

”Of course, if the Three Divine Skills can’t make you Chief, then what can? Rest assured, this year’s Chief is you.

Go get this year’s Chief rewards...”

Pointing at Man Xuebo, Lu Yongchang pondered, ”The Chief rewards have been distributed, right? It wouldn’t be appropriate to ask for them back, but the Chief should not have a lesser reward than the second place.

Go get a reward that is a tier higher than what was given to the Chief, and also have the administration bring the Chief Battle Banner and Champion Ring over—previous ones sent out should be canceled.

Also, inform the guilds that the ranks of their students will move up by one place.

We will specifically award...”

Gu Xi knew the principal hadn’t recognized him, so he immediately introduced himself, ”My name is Gu Xi.”

”Gu Xi, a fine name. We can market it as... Breath of the Dead, yes, call it Breath of the Dead.”

Lu Yongchang beamed at his idea, ”That’s settled. Later, I’ll arrange for the administration to handle a special promotional campaign. You...”

At this point, Lu Yongchang paused, his gaze shifted to Li Xinghui, ”Right, your Chaoyang Radiance Guild should participate as well. You’ve truly stumbled upon a golden opportunity this time.”

”Of course, of course, it’s our good fortune.”

Gu Xi and his two companions were there smiling politely, while Man Xuebo was sweating profusely.

He found himself completely stuck by this matter.

Where could he find a reward tier higher than the previous Chief?

Understand that the prior Chief reward had contributions from the Vice President of Steel Ghost Claw Guild.

This arrangement had allowed the second place to receive the original Chief reward, ultimately benefiting the Vice President’s son the most.

Now, where would he find an even higher-tier reward?

Not to mention he also had to inform that Vice President, who had plotted for months to make his son the Chief, that the position held for just a month was now being corrected due to a ranking error, relegating his son to secondary status.

There was no need to check—Man Xuebo could imagine the expression on the Vice President’s face.

But what other choice did he have?

Nether Bone Wind Academy wanted to promote Gu Xi—one of the Three Divine Skills not taking the Chief position, but rather a later skill acting as Chief, would be an affront to all Undead Mages.

If this became public, what reason would there be for Nether Bone Wind Academy to continue existing?

Man Xuebo was quite helpless.

Then Lu Yongchang looked towards Man Xuebo again, ”Why are you still standing here?”

”Oh, I wanted to ask if Student Gu Xi has any specific requests regarding the rewards?”

”Things useful in Death City. Besides the normal rewards, I’d like an Invisibility Cloak,” Gu Xi decisively stated his request after some thought.

”Excellent choice. You obtained the Death City skill, so you should enhance Death City, and the Invisibility Cloak can protect you on the battlefield—it’s a great choice. Didn’t you hear? Hurry up and get it done.”

Lu Yongchang shot a glance at Man Xuebo before returning his attention to praising Gu Xi.

Seeing Lu Yongchang ignoring him, Man Xuebo gritted his teeth and quickly retreated.

Of course, he didn’t go looking for suitable rewards but rather went to notify the Vice President of Steel Ghost Claw.

Gu Xi didn’t care much about this. What he desired were the rewards that rightfully belonged to him and the Chief Battle Banner and Champion Ring provided by the academy.

These two items are not only proof of identity but also serve unique purposes, symbolizing a student’s status and potential upon graduation.

Wearing a Champion Ring is guaranteed to make others view you with greater respect.

Gu Xi understood the significance of being Chief. Previously, without one of the Three Divine Skills, he would not have demanded anything.

But after acquiring one of the Three Divine Skills, Gu Xi’s ambitions grew differently—he was determined to secure the position of Chief at Nether Bone Wind Academy.

Man Xuebo was gone for nearly three hours. By the time Nether Bone Wind Academy’s administration had almost completed the setup for the graduation and awards ceremony, he hurried back.

At this moment, a slight smile crept onto Man Xuebo’s face.

His gaze towards Gu Xi even carried a hint of sympathy.

”Man Xuebo, where have you been?”

”Principal, I was out taking care of academy matters. Given that we’ve produced such a great Dragon, we must provide some good rewards. This way, when promoting, we can also say that in Gu Xi’s case, the academy had a significant contribution, right?

So I brought out some good items.

This is the Invisibility Cloak specifically requested by Student Gu Xi—Blue Quality. Though it comes with some special stipulations, it’s undoubtedly the best of its kind in the Blue Quality tier.

Moreover, doesn’t Student Gu Xi master the Three Divine Skills, including the Death City skill?

Thus, I adjusted the most critical reward. Originally, an Undead Mage completing the job successfully would be awarded a Combat Squad.

But as Student Gu Xi possesses the Three Divine Skills and is the Chief, I’ve brought a piece of land capable of Fusion. Once incorporated into Death City, it can directly enhance with a large plot, three medium plots, and seven small plots.

This is undoubtedly great for raising the Level of Death City.”
