Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 58: Chapter 56: Design of the Small Building

Listening to the goblin’s analysis, Gu Xi had already determined the black market prices before him.

”How much is it short?”

”To have your little building constructed in two days, you’ll need at least twenty thousand pounds, that’s the starting price; there’s no upper limit.”

The white Mysterious Rat Hide is worth around 30 to 50 pounds, and the Green Crystalized Eye is worth 5000 pounds.

Gu Xi’s mind raced with various judgments, and finally, he took out a ring and tossed it to the goblin.

”How about now?”

The ring Gu Xi threw was a [Transformation Ring].

This was a good item; that strange deer before was transformed using this Transformation Ring.

Most importantly, Gu Xi knew this [Transformation Ring] had a trait that gives +4 levels after transformation.

Even if taken out of the game, it would still fetch a high price.

Yet Gu Xi seemed unconcerned and just tossed it out.

This surprised the goblin quite a bit, and he clumsily caught the ring and quickly began examining it. After a while, he said.

”This ring can transform a person into a monster existing in their mind. If not for the risk of losing control after transformation, it could sell for at least a hundred thousand pounds. Even now, forty to fifty thousand pounds shouldn’t be a problem.

Are you really planning to invest it all in your construction?”

”Build it. If necessary, I’ll buy some more things, but I suppose you always have ways to spend this money, right?”

”Of course, there’s no money the Goblin Trading Company can’t earn.”

The goblin said excitedly, ”Let’s calculate with a budget of fifty-five thousand pounds.”

Gu Xi blinked and immediately understood. The goblin had included the Green Crystalized Eye in this too.

Before he could say anything, the goblin drew on the ground, and a Magic Sand Table appeared in front of Gu Xi.

”My friend, where is your plot?”

”You know the ruins at the end of Greenwich Street, right?”

”I know, isn’t that...” The goblin, being well-informed, immediately understood. Even though he had some doubts, upon seeing the [Transformation Ring], all doubts vanished.

”I know that place, the terrain is roughly like this.”

The goblin clapped his hands, and the Magic Sand Table changed form. When Gu Xi looked at it, it was indeed the layout of the previous ruins.

At this moment, Gu Xi said to the goblin, ”I’ve already cleared away the debris from the ruins. There are two underground chambers here and here. This one can be rebuilt, and this one must be preserved.”

Hearing that Gu Xi had cleared away all the construction debris on the ruins, the goblin showed a face of losing a million.

But fortunately, he was somewhat rational. He swiped his hand and cleared the construction debris, leaving only an open space.

Then the goblin began adding various things inside.

”My friend, you want a three-story small building, right? Do you need a courtyard in front, and how large should the garden be? You need a gate built, right? I have a lion’s head that can open doors automatically. Are you interested?

This thing isn’t expensive, 500 pounds for a pair. It can notice anyone passing by.

Do you need to arrange for a butler inside the gate, or perhaps not? Then how about the garden?

What style do you need the small building to be...”

Standing by, Gu Xi watched the Magic Sand Table before him, thinking how useful it was.

The goblin kept adding things he had available, and whenever Gu Xi gave an opinion, the goblin could remove items from the Magic Sand Table at any time.

Soon, Gu Xi and the goblin reached an agreement. The new building would be a three-story stone and wood structure with an extra basement level.

The small building would cover an area of 200 square meters, the remaining area would be for the front gate and the courtyard, covering nearly 30 square meters, and the backyard would have a garden, pond, and a small steam engine room, altogether covering an area of 60 square meters.

The most important basement, Gu Xi insisted, must have its entrance under the pond, and can only be accessed by a secret switch.

Otherwise, to enter, the pond must be drained.

Of course, this kind of entrance design cost money, and the goblin utilized steam technology, magic, and some special techniques here, making it the most significant investment aside from the small building itself.

Additionally, the interior decoration of the small building was also determined.

The basement is designated as a warehouse area, with six rooms of varying sizes, including two cold storage, one magically reinforced room, a dedicated collection room, and an important library room.

The security level of these warehouses has been enhanced, but Gu Xi did not accept the goblin’s suggestion to arrange any goblin security or such.

Gu Xi really didn’t need that. If need be, he could simply arrange some undead in his small building.

The first floor primarily comprises the hall, living room, dining room, kitchen, and other rooms; the second floor has five differently styled bedrooms; and the third floor is Gu Xi’s master bedroom, along with a viewing balcony. Of course, the master bedroom covers an area of about 150 square meters, so it’s further divided into various functional areas inside.

These didn’t involve magic, so the goblin didn’t raise the price, but for the front and backyard arrangements, the goblin piled things on fiercely.

The backyard pond and steam engine room are essential, especially the steam engine room, which is the source of electricity and heat for the entire small building, something normally needed.

The goblin exaggerated about the front yard, mentioning things like a Tree of Wisdom, doors that can automatically open and close, and nutrient-rich soil.

Each of these items was pricier than the last, but Gu Xi wasn’t shy with the goblin. He didn’t just pay the goblin’s asking price; instead, he negotiated, or outright refused some unnecessary items.

The goblin also noticed Gu Xi’s attitude and didn’t overly introduce security and related aspects but focused on how to live well after closing the small building’s door.

His introduction naturally hit right at Gu Xi’s interests.

Some things Gu Xi hadn’t considered became purchases after hearing the goblin’s persuasion.

In this mix and match manner, Gu Xi’s budget was thoroughly spent.

As the goblin was about to recommend more items, Gu Xi directly stopped him.

”Stop, that’s it, no more. I have no more money.”

Hearing Gu Xi’s words, the goblin sighed. He had many things he wanted to recommend to Gu Xi.

At that moment, the goblin’s eyes shifted, just about to speak, when Gu Xi preemptively said.

”Don’t come out with some line about something essential being left out at this time. If that’s the case, then I’ll just take the small building part, leaving out all the miscellaneous outside stuff. Adjust the budget to twenty thousand right away.”

Upon hearing this, the goblin quickly closed his mouth and didn’t dare recommend more.
