Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 88: Chapter 86: Death Transformation

”My lord, something’s wrong. Beneath the abandoned old city, there’s still half a corpse buried.

No, only a tenth of a body, just the right shoulder to the right waist. Previously, three laboratories extracted and suppressed it, and nothing happened.

Now, that body seems to be getting out of control.”

Luna’s voice reached Gu Xi’s ears as he was rushing towards the tavern.

A tenth of a corpse, only the right shoulder to the right waist?

What is going on here?

Although Gu Xi didn’t fully understand, he already knew where the problem stemmed from.

If it were something else, Gu Xi really couldn’t handle it, but a corpse.

Gu Xi wasn’t worried at all, for there’s no corpse an Undead Mage can’t handle.

If there is, then surely the Undead Mage’s level isn’t high enough.

Thinking of this, Gu Xi decisively said, ”I understand, I’ll stall him. Do whatever you need to do.”

After saying this, Gu Xi glanced at the tavern right in front of him, then swiftly turned and left.

The barmaid, who was standing at the tavern entrance ready to greet him, found the situation somewhat baffling. She turned to look at the maid beside her, touching her own skull.

”What’s with the Lord City Lord? Am I not pretty anymore? Is that why he ran off upon seeing me?”

A few skeleton maids shook their heads repeatedly upon hearing this; how dare they casually say anything.

Faced with such a question, they could only shake their heads pretending not to know.

Meanwhile, Gu Xi, running toward the direction of the abandoned old city, had no time to consider the barmaid’s thoughts. He had only one idea in mind: once outside, he must ask if there is any mount or similar item available for trade.

Running back and forth like this all the time, Gu Xi would get tired.

Before Gu Xi could reach the abandoned old city, the Death Incarnation had already pounced to the ground.

Its target was the largest, thickest arm.

As the Death Incarnation flew down, this arm seemed to be stimulated, moving slightly.

The fingers even tried to extend and grab the Death Incarnation, but in the end, failed.

However, the arm’s movement prompted a counterattack from the Death Incarnation, as it bit heavily on the largest segment of the arm.

With one bite, the Death Incarnation attempted a rapid spin to sever the arm.

But the problem was that this arm, apart from being long, was also very thick; biting into the bronze arm barely inflicted any damage.

Instead, the Death Incarnation was almost thrown off, which made it quite furious.

It felt as if it had been provoked.

These are just lifeless things; it couldn’t believe these dead objects could harm it.

So the Death Incarnation flew back into the sky, charged downward, and transformed into black mist, slamming heavily onto the bronze arm.

With that impact, the bronze arm that had been impenetrable finally moved a bit.

Yet, instead of collapsing, the bronze arm swung back and struck the Death Incarnation heavily.

Despite its level having reached level 11, the Death Incarnation was directly struck flying, its life halved instantly.

If it weren’t for the toughness of the Death Incarnation’s bones, the bones might have turned to powder by now.

Rolling on the ground and quickly getting back up, the Death Incarnation transformed into black mist again, preparing to launch another attack on the bronze arm.

By this time, Gu Xi had already rushed in from the outside.

”Death Incarnation, retreat back.”

Upon hearing the command, the Death Incarnation quickly came to Gu Xi’s side.

At this moment, thoughts were racing through Gu Xi’s mind; he could already confirm that what lay beneath the bronze arm was an incomplete corpse.

Simultaneously, the corpse was being affected by some power, continuously activating. The bronze arm emerging from underground was the result of the corpse’s activation.

Moreover, with the kind of energy stored within that part of the corpse, it wouldn’t take long for the entire Yalidov to be overgrown with such arms.

Ultimately, to whom Yalidov City belongs would be truly uncertain.

With the Death Incarnation recalled, Gu Xi had only one thought in mind: to eliminate the buried corpse with vengeance, eradicating it from the source.

While others had no means of handling this corpse, the methods available to an Undead Mage were numerous.

Corpse Burst was the best choice.

Though the explosion could flatten the abandoned old city, to Gu Xi, it was no big deal.

After all, the abandoned old city was acquired for free; and besides, only the city of the abandoned old city would be blasted away, with the integrated land still intact.

Just as Gu Xi was contemplating the safest spot from which to detonate the corpse without affecting himself, the ground of the abandoned old city began to tremble suddenly.

Once again, Luna’s voice echoed in Gu Xi’s ears.

”My lord, suppress that corpse.”

Without much thought, Gu Xi immediately pointed at the Death Incarnation.

”Clone, suppression!”

Upon hearing this, the Death Incarnation transformed into black mist and flew up, then sharply turned in the air, plunging into the ground.

In the next instant, Gu Xi felt as if his mana had been drained away, as it was when he first summoned the Death Incarnation.

And the Death Incarnation also disintegrated on the spot, transforming into precise power of death, merging underground.

It could be said that with just this, the entire abandoned old city became soaked in black.

After disintegrating the Death Incarnation, Gu Xi almost fell to the ground; the feeling of having his mana completely drained was even more uncomfortable than when he summoned the Death Incarnation.

But Gu Xi had no intention of collapsing; he used the Shattering Staff to support his body, and stood firmly.

With the Death Incarnation transforming into power of death, the ground of the abandoned old city continued to contract.

At the same time, three laboratories had been completely expelled from Yalidov and sent to Victoria City.

Now the contraction of the land happened to squeeze out the original three laboratories’ locations, while those bronze arms, under the influence of the power of death, underwent a new transformation, changing from bronze muscles to bronze hand bones.

When the arm transformed into a hand, Gu Xi couldn’t help but exclaim in surprise; he noticed that the shape of the bones in the hand bore some resemblance to beast bones.

The hand bones of one arm were different; it seemed there were possibly more than one corpse buried below.

However, as Luna counted it as a single corpse, Gu Xi wouldn’t say much; a body is a body, after all.

Under the suppression of Gu Xi and the Death Incarnation, Luna finally completed the transformation of this area.

The land of the abandoned old city turned black, with all buildings completely collapsing and rotting away, ultimately turning into a flat field with only bronze skeletal arms stretching out from the ground.

The tallest was still that arm over twenty meters long, but now Gu Xi had a feeling that this arm now obeyed his command.

At this moment, a voice also reached Gu Xi’s ears.

[Ding! Due to the influence of the power of death, the abandoned old city has undergone mutation, the area has been replanned, and the area has been converted into the Hundred-armed Giant Graveyard District.]
