Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 72: Chapter 70: Returning to the City

Stepping into Yalidov City, the sunlight that was previously shining down vanished completely, and the sky once again took on the gloomy feeling of a Death City.

In front of the Assembly Hall in Yalidov City, the newly recruited 50 Skeleton Soldiers, 20 Zombies, and 10 Ghosts all stood in formation.

Unlike the Skeleton Soldiers summoned by Gu Xi himself, these Undead were formal troops with levels.

The Skeleton Soldiers here were all equipped with swords and shields, wearing armor as official Skeleton Soldiers.

[Skeleton Soldier (Level 3, Summoned Corps): Experience (0/500) Attack 2+1 (Longsword), Defense 1+2 (Shield + Armor) Life 20, Skills: Undead Creatures, Cooperative Combat.]

From the attributes of these Skeleton Soldiers, it was clear they had no particular advantages, being among the most basic of Undead Species with no special traits.

Unlike the commonly seen Skeleton Soldiers, Zombies and Ghosts were rare species, and their formation level was significantly higher than that of the Skeleton Soldiers.

Those Zombies with bluish-yellow skin, hardened skin and flesh, and some exposed bones, holding a kitchen knife, were among the basic Zombie species, lacking defense, attack, or movement speed.

But due to their higher level, their offense and defense exceeded the normal Skeleton Soldiers.

[Zombie (Level 4, Summoned Corps): Experience (0/750) Attack 4+2 (Kitchen Knife), Defense 6, Life 60, Skills: Undead Creatures, Combat Bite, Corrosive Poison Attack.]

Like the Zombies, Ghosts had much higher levels, and their attack power and traits far exceeded those of Skeleton Soldiers.

These Ghosts were completely different from Luna, belonging to the old-style Ghost species, not the later more common translucent Ghost type, but the kind with black robes, floating in the air, with a skeletal face and chest exposed.

Gathered together, they floated honestly without causing much of a stir.

[Ghost (Level 5, Summoned Corps): Experience (0/1000) Attack 5, Defense 4, Life 55, Skills: Undead Creatures, Flying Team, Life Value Recovery, Ghost Constitution.]

The traits of these Ghosts were much stronger than those of Skeleton Soldiers and Zombies. Besides being Undead Creatures and part of the Flying Team, the life recovery characteristic allowed them to heal themselves during combat.

The Ghost Constitution was even stronger, having a 50% chance to be immune to physical attacks.

With their inherently strong attack power, these Ghosts could be considered the pinnacle of the basic Undead Species.

All the Undead Species stood before him, remaining motionless without a command from Gu Xi.

Glancing at these Undead Species, Gu Xi nodded contentedly; apart from anything else, the number of troops in front was enough to supplement the losses from previous battles.

Gu Xi had been busy with other matters just now, leaving no time to manage these Undead Species, but now, with time on his hands, he naturally had to arrange them properly.

”All Skeleton Bosses, come over, divide these Skeleton Soldiers into groups of 10, 20, and 20. Leave the Zombies here for now; Luna will manage the Ghosts.

Luna, how is the construction of the new White Bone Evil Temple coming along, Luna...

Luna?”

Gu Xi assigned tasks for a moment, only to find that Luna and Shaya were not present.

This left Gu Xi stunned. Just as he was about to see where Luna had gone, he noticed Luna and Shaya walking out of a nearby small building.

At this moment, both their faces were noticeably unpleasant, wearing gloomy expressions like someone owed them a substantial sum of money.

Only upon seeing Gu Xi did their expressions improve, ”Master, you’re here.”

”Hmm, what’s wrong with you two? You both look unwell. Is there a problem with the newly integrated abandoned old town?”

”No, Master, we just went to Victoria City, and there’s big trouble over there.”

Luna rapidly explained.

”What happened?” Gu Xi’s Yalidov City was closely tied to Victoria City, so any trouble over there would affect things here, making Gu Xi anxious to know.

This was far more important than the integration of the old city district.

”It seems Westminster Cathedral is being influenced by followers of the Great Monarch, turning into an Evil Realm, with a follower planning to ascend there and fulfill a contract James I made with the Great Monarch.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi couldn’t help but comment.

”Is he insane? How is this possible?”

”Of course, those Cultists are always like this, driven by a belief without a brain,” Shaya interjected at this point.

At this moment, Gu Xi noticed Shaya’s unusual emotions; this was clearly unrelated to her, yet she seemed overly excited.

”Shaya, did something happen?”

”Those Cultists are supporting the actions at Westminster Cathedral with blood sacrifices on the streets of Victoria City. Many people have died on the streets over the past few nights.

This has infuriated the black-coated dogs of Scotland Yard, who’ve been investigating the matter for days.

Even the Destiny Compass Guild has been affected.”

”Are you worried about your mentor and colleagues?”

Gu Xi easily grasped Shaya’s concerns.

”Yes, I don’t know why, but I have a bad feeling.”

Shaya whispered, unclear about the source of this feeling.

As a Thief, she should only sense danger, yet she couldn’t fathom this unease.

”This is a bit troublesome. Here’s the plan: first, finish what you’re doing, then station yourself in Victoria City and keep an eye on things. If anything happens, feel free to help your mentor.”

With Gu Xi’s words, Shaya’s complexion improved significantly, ”Thank you, Master.”

”It’s nothing. We don’t urgently need your strength right now.”

Seeing Shaya’s restored demeanor, Luna smiled contentedly.

At this point, Gu Xi turned to Luna again.

”How’s the White Bone Evil Temple we brought in last time coming along?”

”It’s begun construction, taking up the last large plot of land in this district. Master, how long will you be staying in the city this time?”

”Five or six days, to get the White Bone Evil Temple built. With its forces and our current troops, we should be able to claim the Pier District. By the way, how’s the newly integrated old city district? Do we have enough resources for development?”

”Resources are scarce, but the territory has improved noticeably since integrating the old city district, accelerating resource collection. But there is one issue.”

Luna, as Yalidov’s manager, was most familiar with such matters.

”What’s the problem?”

”The old city district has three locations where something seems suppressed, and I sense something is amiss.”

”You’re referring to the laboratory, right? I also feel uneasy about it, not quite fond of that thing.

Let’s set it aside for now. We’ll take down the Pier District first and then demolish the three laboratories for new large plots, constructing our buildings.”

Gu Xi decided to bypass the laboratories in favor of new developments.

Gu Xi never liked laboratories and had other crucial matters to attend to.

Completing the temporary mission related to Shaya, the Sacred Artifact from the fairy tale.

Acquiring another of the Three Divine Skills, Death Incarnation.
