Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 85: Chapter 83: The Abandoned Old City

In the Assembly Hall of Yalidu City, Gu Xi held a cup of hot water, sitting in front of the map table while sipping.

At this moment, the map on the table had completely changed. The city of Yalidov, originally only 0.9 square kilometers, had now expanded to 2.15 square kilometers.

Marks representing various buildings had been placed on some of the vacant building lands.

Gu Xi’s eyes were vacant, his attention entirely focused on a corner of the map.

According to the map, the three abandoned laboratories were not clustered together but were located at three edge points of the old abandoned city.

Each of the three laboratories had its own name; the one Gu Xi saw near the library was called the Giant Mountain Spiritual Technology Laboratory.

The map did not provide an explanation, and Gu Xi hadn’t approached it, so he didn’t know the purpose of this building, nor its traits.

The other two laboratories were the Gu Liqian Gene Inheritance Laboratory and the Stone Breath Mysterious Object Laboratory.

The names of these three laboratories clearly indicated that their research directions were different.

Gu Xi also discovered another issue; although there were many roads leading into the abandoned old city, only one main street existed. If one were to enter the abandoned old city via the main street, regardless of the direction, they would inevitably end up at one of the three laboratories.

Is this forcing people to enter the three laboratories?

What are they planning to do?

Could there be something hidden in the laboratories?

While Gu Xi contemplated this matter, Luna floated in from outside.

”Sir, why are you here?”

”Luna, you’ve arrived. How are things at the Wharf Warehouse and Wharf Market?”

”The arrangements are already in place. Along with our sufficient resources, construction will be completed in just three hours.”

Luna responded.

”Three hours, that’s good.”

Gu Xi then seemed to come to his senses and stood up, ”Luna, after dealing with the Pier District, we need to address the situation over at the abandoned old city. Those three laboratories, I find them disconcerting. At that time, cut down these three pieces of land and directly abandon them.”

Luna was somewhat helpless regarding Gu Xi’s request.

”Sir, it’s not that I don’t want to cut the land, but my power hasn’t reached that level yet. If we want to abandon it, we not only have to cut away the newly integrated abandoned old city completely but might also have to sacrifice some additional land.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi frowned.

”Is there another way? I don’t want to see these three laboratories on my territory.”

”Yes!”

Luna said decisively to Gu Xi’s request.

”This is actually a clever method. Other death cities can’t do it, but Sir, you know that Yalidu City is the mirror city of Victoria City.

We can completely exile these three laboratories like James I did back then.”

Hearing this, Gu Xi started to consider the feasibility of this plan.

It must be said, Luna’s idea was feasible.

However, exiling these three laboratories would inevitably cause some trouble for Victoria City.

It might even lead to catastrophic destruction in Victoria City.

Seeing Gu Xi weighing the pros and cons in silence, Luna didn’t try to persuade further, for she knew well what she should do.

Whenever Gu Xi asked for opinions, she answered honestly, and when Gu Xi was thinking, she refrained from making judgments.

Soon Gu Xi stood up, ”Luna, you’re in charge of this, directly exile those three laboratories for me.”

”Okay!”

Luna turned to prepare to leave.

At this time, Gu Xi said again, ”Wait, I’ll send the Death Incarnation to assist you.”

Luna did not refuse. Upon leaving the Assembly Hall, the Death Incarnation appeared in its bone dragon form on the open ground outside the Assembly Hall.

Seeing Luna coming, it nodded to her.

Simultaneously, ten ghosts followed Luna closely, seemingly regarding her as their leader.

Gu Xi did not go with Luna to handle the laboratory matter. When Luna left, Gu Xi went up to the second floor of the Assembly Hall, standing at a higher position, looking towards the laboratory direction.

Gu Xi knew well the temptation that the laboratory held for him, and he didn’t wish to invite trouble by personally going there.

Yet he was concerned about Luna and the others’ situation. Helplessly, he could only keep watch from a distance here.

Meanwhile, over at the abandoned old city, the three abandoned laboratories were still operating underground.

Even though the laboratories had been abandoned, they would automatically run as long as there was power. Even without researchers, the laboratories’ interiors still functioned.

To outsiders, based on their names, the purpose of these three laboratories was entirely indecipherable.

In fact, the three laboratories were a whole, always researching the corpse of a powerful being that had been contained.

The Giant Mountain Spiritual Technology Laboratory attracted Gu Xi’s attention because it was researching this being’s soul. The Gu Liqian Gene Inheritance Laboratory and the Stone Breath Mysterious Object Laboratory were respectively studying this being’s body and weaponry.

At the same time, the three laboratories shared a common function: to suppress the body of this powerful being.

The city was abandoned initially because one of the laboratories malfunctioned, triggering resonance in the powerful being’s corpse.

The powerful being, dead for unknown years, suddenly stood up again, demolishing the city in one blow, and ultimately the corpse’s whereabouts became unknown, leaving only this region as the abandoned old city.

Now, the three laboratories still contained that being’s soul fragments, body cells, and weapon replicas.

Even without the being’s main body, the remaining parts were even more dangerous.

When Gu Xi attempted to enter the Giant Mountain Spiritual Technology Laboratory, he was under the control of the soul fragment’s spiritual power.

Similarly, there were various experimental products in the other two laboratories.

These items, without anyone in control, were like a gunpowder keg stuffed to the brim, ready to explode with a single spark.

When Gu Xi, influenced by spiritual power, decided to escape, it was the wisest choice.

If Gu Xi had felt any impulse and entered the Giant Mountain Spiritual Technology Laboratory, subsequent events would have been beyond his control.

The experiments suppressed below the laboratory would be unleashed, leaving only destruction as the path for Gu Xi’s Yalidu City.

Initially, many had attempted to merge this city, but encountered the same trouble, leading them to cut and abandon the abandoned old city to minimize losses.

At this moment, Gu Xi was unaware of this fact, standing on the rooftop of the Assembly Hall, watching that direction, waiting for the outcome of the action.
