Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 68: Chapter 66: Chief Battle Banner and Champion Ring

In the Blood Sea Conference Hall of the Nether Bone Wind Academy, Gu Xi, clad in new clothes, was sitting quietly on one side waiting.

Beside him stood Li Xinghui, whose face was full of excitement.

While waiting for the specially prepared graduation ceremony, Li Xinghui had already reported the matter to the higher-ups of the Chaoyang Radiance Guild.

The top brass of the Chaoyang Radiance Guild couldn’t make it due to prior commitments, but they all sent messages emphasizing that Gu Xi should feel like family within the guild.

Since the Nether Bone Wind Academy decided to hold the graduation ceremony in the academy’s largest Blood Sea Conference Hall, Li Xinghui stayed by Gu Xi’s side, introducing him to various situations in Bailian City.

From Li Xinghui’s introduction, Gu Xi could tell that this time the Nether Bone Wind plans to widely publicize his achievements.

This time, seven of the top ten guilds in Bailian City arrived, and representatives from the administrative and military systems of Bailian City were also present, as well as most of the major families.

One could say that the Nether Bone Wind Academy has gone all out this time.

However, Gu Xi noticed that among the guests, some people did not have such a favorable attitude towards him, looking at him with a tinge of hostility in their eyes.

”Comrade, who is that?”

In a moment of leisure, Gu Xi discreetly pointed at the person full of hostility towards him.

Li Xinghui saw it and laughed, ”No worries, they’re just members of some small guilds in Bailian City, some of which are our guild’s arch enemies, so it’s normal for them to give you those looks.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Xi understood what the situation was.

Facing those hostile gazes, Gu Xi simply stared back with equal intensity.

This action made Li Xinghui burst into laughter.

Soon, the preparations by the Nether Bone Wind Academy were completed.

Dean Lu Yongchang personally took the stage, followed by several pale-skinned women holding the awards for this occasion.

As these women ascended the stage, Li Xinghui couldn’t help but remark.

”Well now, the dean has brought out the Vampire Guard, I must say, comrade, your presence here is quite significant.”

”It’s alright, I guess.”

”Alright? No way, you’re something else. These vampires are the dean’s treasures, normally he wouldn’t even let them leave their rooms, bringing them out this time is entirely to honor you.”

As Gu Xi and Li Xinghui chatted, Lu Yongchang had already reached the center of the awarding stage.

”Today we have invited you to explain something to Bailian City—this time Nether Bone Wind Academy has produced a dragon. All previous graduate rankings are null, and new rankings will be established.”

No sooner had Lu Yongchang’s voice fallen than discussions erupted among the crowd below.

Though they had received bits of information upon their arrival, the detailed situation had not been explained by Lu Yongchang.

Now, with Lu Yongchang announcing that Nether Bone Wind has produced a dragon, it piqued everyone’s attention.

Observing the situation below, Lu Yongchang proudly continued, ”Next, let me introduce to you, this is the chief graduate of our current class at Nether Bone Wind Academy, who has mastered the Breath of the Dead of Death City from the start, Gu Xi.”

With a gesture from Lu Yongchang, the spotlight fell upon Gu Xi.

Gu Xi stood and walked toward the stage.

As Gu Xi moved forward, the eyes of the people below were upon him.

Gu Xi could even hear some of their conversations.

”He looks so skinny.”

”His pale face suggests he definitely has potential as an Undead Mage.”

”Seems like a promising talent, which guild snagged him?”

”The Chaoyang Radiance Guild, who’d have thought they got so lucky this time.”

Amid such chatter, Gu Xi stepped onto the awarding stage.

At this moment, one of the vampire girls behind Lu Yongchang stepped forward, holding the rewards from Nether Bone Wind Academy.

Having stepped onto the awarding platform, a faint outline of a city gate appeared behind Gu Xi.

Everyone present, veterans of countless battles, immediately understood what was happening with this gesture from Gu Xi.

”Starting off with a Death City, that’s something extraordinary, it’s like having such a head start over others.”

”He’s having food served to him on a silver platter.”

”No wonder old Lu Yongchang claimed their academy produced a dragon, this truly is a great dragon.”

The chatter below didn’t affect the two on stage, and as a vampire girl came forward, holding an item, Lu Yongchang enthusiastically introduced it to Gu Xi.

”This here is the Chief Battle Banner, it bears the certification of our Nether Bone Wind Academy, and now it’s yours.”

With these words, Lu Yongchang took a battle banner from the vampire girl’s hands.

The banner was 192 cm in length, 128 cm in width, a medium-sized flag. The banner was pure white, notably sparse, and only in the lower left corner was there a thumbs-up symbol.

Above the thumb, it read, ’Nether Bone Wind Academy, Class of 2317, may the winds of the Netherworld always be by your side.’

The Chief Battle Banner’s true value lay in the thumbs-up symbol, with it Gu Xi could add such a thumbs-up under his emblem, signifying his status as a chief graduate.

As long as Nether Bone Wind Academy exists, his raised banner will carry a permanent attribute enhancement.

[Nether Bone Wind Academy Chief Battle Banner (Blue): All undead corps movement speed permanently increased by 15%]

Receiving the Chief Battle Banner, Gu Xi took a deep breath and bowed to Lu Yongchang.

At this moment, a second vampire girl came forward with another tray.

On this tray lay a ring, the face of which was silver, forming the numeral ’1’, while the inner wall of the ring was inscribed with a line.

’Nether Bone Wind Academy, Class of 2317, may the blessings of the white bone be eternal.’

This ring was the exclusive Champion Ring for this class’s chief, and unlike the thumbs-up emblem on the Chief Battle Banner, a player can only wear two rings regardless of their attributes.

Therefore, the attributes of this ring were somewhat better than those of the Chief Battle Banner.

[Nether Bone Wind Academy Champion Ring (Blue, Ring)]

[Equipment Requirement: First place graduate of the Class of 2317, Nether Bone Wind Academy]

[Attributes: All attributes +1]

[Special: Strong Bone, adds 50 to health and 50 to mana for the wearer.]

[Note: As the academy’s chief, you’ll have a head start over many others.]

Taking the Champion Ring, Gu Xi immediately slipped it onto the index finger of his left hand.

As soon as he wore the ring, Gu Xi felt a warm sensation spreading through his body, as if something had subtly changed.
