Chapter 245, Letting Someone Take the Kill

Lu Fan turned around and saw that the battle between Andrei and Wei Ji was also approaching its end.

Wei Ji was no match for Andrei. Andrei’s body was engulfed in flames, and each hammer strike possessed terrifying power, forcing Wei Ji to continuously retreat while spitting blood.

Noticing Lu Fan looking over, Andrei stomped his foot forcefully and swung his warhammer upward, sending Wei Ji flying.

Wei Ji’s trajectory was naturally heading straight towards where Lu Fan was.

Although each of Andrei’s moves was bold and powerful, his combat technique was clearly not inferior to Lu Fan’s.

The force of this hammer strike was perfectly controlled, leaving Wei Ji nearly unconscious but not quite dead.

Lu Fan could tell that Andrei was ‘letting him take the kill’.

According to the National Trial rules, one could only obtain points from representatives by killing them.

Since Andrei was being so considerate, Lu Fan did not hesitate. He drew his bow, aimed at Wei Ji, and shot her with precise accuracy.

Instantly, Wei Ji’s body exploded in mid-air, converting into points that Lu Fan had obtained.

The Eternal Country’s team of four was completely eliminated, and this hunt had increased Lu Fan’s points well past the eight hundred thousand mark.

Now, his points had reached nearly nine hundred thousand, leading the entire competition by a mile!

After killing Wei Ji, Andrei clearly had no intention of fighting Lu Fan. The flames covering his body dissipated, leaving only his Flame Wings for flight.

[Seems like he is not hostile. His intervention is purely to help me out of a tight spot.] Lu Fan had a good impression of him and patted Xiao Ye below him, telling her to reduce her hostility towards Andrei.

“Brother, you are impressively strong!” Andrei had a wide grin, his smile carrying a hint of embarrassment. “When I saw you getting ambushed outside the Array earlier, I just had to come in to help. It is embarrassing how it turns out I wasn’t needed. With your strength, you could have killed all of them even if I hadn’t come. I also made sure I didn’t steal your points.”

Lu Fan smiled, thinking how proper Andrei was, ultimately giving up the points to show he had no intention of stealing them.

“Regardless, I still need to thank you for wanting to help, Brother.” Lu Fan said loudly while riding Xiao Ye, laughing at Andrei. “I really didn’t expect to run into you here. What a coincidence!”

“You can say that again.” Andrei scratched his head, “I didn’t expect to find representatives fighting each other here either. When I arrived I discovered it was you. But hey, if it was anyone else, I would have taken them all out and gotten quite a few points!”

Lu Fan laughed, “If that’s what you’re thinking, why not try killing me for points?”

Andrei waved his hand, “That won’t do. Because of that delicious whatever-chicken you gave me, I owe you one. In this National Trial, I can kill anyone else, but definitely not you.” After a pause, Andrei boldly laughed, “Besides, I find you quite agreeable. Much more than that bastard from Extremistis Country. If I remember correctly, you also have a grudge against that Jin kid, right? The enemy of my enemy is my friend. If you see that bastard later, you must kill him!”

[It seems like the Feather Country’s intelligence department is quite capable. They must have clearly investigated matters between me and Jin Chenghan.] Nevertheless, Lu Fan was not surprised by this.

Hearing Andrei’s words, Lu Fan joked, “Comparing me to him is quite insulting.”

“Haha, my mistake, I apologise!” Andrei put away his warhammer and raised his hands with a laugh. “Alright, no more chatting. I’m currently only ranked fourth. I need to hurry up and farm more points. If I don’t make it to the top three, I’m definitely going to get scolded when I return home.”

“Alright, I should get going too.” Lu Fan nodded, tacitly preparing to bid farewell to Andrei.

Both being mighty Players of their own meant that neither was interested in forming an alliance. Since neither harboured killing intent towards the other, they might as well part ways.

If they truly appreciated each other’s abilities, they could find somewhere to chat after leaving the National Trial.

However, just as Lu Fan was about to leave, Andrei suddenly called out to him. “Brother, wait a moment, I just thought of something.”

Lu Fan stopped and turned back, asking, “Oh?”

Andrei scratched his head and smiled sheepishly, “Well… do you happen to have any more Dragon Country dishes? To be honest, although I brought plenty of food for this National Trial, after eating that roasted chicken you gave me before, I really don’t have much appetite for what I brought… If possible… I could trade some points with you for more food. How about 5000 points for one chicken?”

Lu Fan could not help but laugh at this. [Who said Cook was a useless Lifestyle Specialised Profession!? One beggar’s chicken could be traded for 5000 points! That many points would take a representative half a day to farm!]

Lu Fan thought about it and decided not to take advantage of this opportunity to exploit him. He

looked through his Inventory, which contained both food and non-food items.

Giving some to Andrei would not be a problem.

“No need to exchange it for points. I have another beggar’s chicken and some roasted meat with me. I’ll just give them to you.”

“What?! Give them?! That doesn’t seem right!” When Andrei heard Lu Fan had so much delicious food, he was nearly drooling.

After some back and forth, they finally agreed that Lu Fan would give Andrei one beggar’s chicken and two pieces of roasted meat, and Andrei would give Lu Fan 2000 points as a gesture of good will.

After settling this, Andrei wiped the drool from the corner of his mouth and flew towards Lu Fan with an excited expression, planning to exchange meat for points.

However, when they got close to each other in mid-air and could clearly see each other’s information, they both froze in surprise.

Andrei exclaimed. “How do you have so many points!?”

Lu Fan also exclaimed. “You received a Hunting Mission to hunt down one of the Nine Hell Demons?!”

Their eyes met, and they both read each other’s thoughts – ‘let’s not leave just yet, Brother, have more to discuss!’

With this tacit understanding, they immediately put aside the meat trade and found a clean place to talk.

The Swamp region wasn’t entirely covered in filthy swamp pools. At least, Lu Fan and Andrei found a relatively clean grass patch on the outskirts of the region where they could sit.

Regarding his points, Lu Fan did not hide anything and directly explained that he got so many points because he cleared out one of the Dark Castles.

When Andrei heard that Lu Fan had actually cleared a Dark Castle, his jaw dropped in amazement.
