Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 219, What’s the Point of These Little Tricks?

“What does Elder Han mean by that?” Zhao Shengming did not understand.

Elder Han remained calm and explained, “Do you think it’s just a coincidence that Lu Fan received this Mission?”

“Based on my experience in dealing with Extremistis Country, this was most likely planned by them in advance. Think carefully about the real-time points ranking. Charles from Star Strip Country and Andrei from Feather Country both had sudden increases in points at the beginning. But now, their points are increasing very steadily. Why do you think that is?”

Zhao Shengming was smart enough to see through this. Upon hearing Elder Han’s words, he immediately understood. “You mean that Charles and Andrei had previously accepted normal Missions, and after completing them, their points surged. And now, they’ve also received Missions similar to Lu Fan’s, so they can only gain points through hunting Monsters. They can no longer get points through Missions?”

“Most likely.” Elder Han nodded.

At this moment, a cheer came from outside the Arena. Elder Han narrowed his eyes and looked at the real-time points leaderboard. Sure enough, the reason the Extremistis Country people outside were so excited was that Jin Chenghan had most likely just completed a Mission and his points suddenly overtook the others, directly becoming first place, surpassing Charles and Andrei.

It made sense. If Jin Chenghan could farm Monsters and complete Missions at the same time, even Andrei and Charles definitely would not be able to earn points as fast as him.

Seeing Jin Chenghan’s points increasing so rapidly and considering the Mission Lu Fan had received, Zhao Shengming naturally guessed Extremistis Country’s scheme.

There should be many Mission Scrolls in the Secret Realm, all listing the Nine Hell Demons as target Bosses. Once such a Mission got accepted, the method of earning points through Missions would be gone.

Jin Chenghan, as the representative of the host country, definitely had inside information and knew which Mission Scrolls were traps.

As long as he avoided these traps, Jin Chenghan could naturally earn points through both farming Monsters and completing Missions. This way, surpassing Charles and Andrei would be a piece of cake.

As for trying to kill Jin Chenghan to take his points, that was even more of a pipe dream.

Zhao Shengming knew that Jin Chenghan’s Profession Characteristics were extremely overpowered. As long as he summoned his Abyss Summons in advance and had them hidden, even if Jin Chenghan was killed, he could revive.

If Jin Chenghan could not be truly killed, then his points naturally could not be stolen. In this case, would Jin Chenghan not be guaranteed victory in the National Trial Secret Realm!?

[This National Trial is too unfair!] Zhao Shengming had always been a nice person, rarely getting anxious when facing issues. However, the current situation had truly angered him.

“How can Extremistis Country be so shameless! They are openly practising favouritism and fraud!?” Lightning arcs flickered around Zhao Shengming’s body, and lightning flashed in his eyes. “This won’t do! I need to gather the delegates from the other countries and demand an explanation from Jin Zaian!”

Seeing this, Elder Han slowly spoke up, “I’ve already told you. Even if you go now, you won’t get any response. All these are just our own guesses. Do you have any evidence that Extremistis Country tampered with the Mission Scrolls or leaked information?”

“How could there possibly be evidence for such things!?” Zhao Shengming frowned.

Elder Han smiled and said, “If there’s no evidence, how can you make Extremistis Country admit they tampered with the National Trial Secret Realm?”

Zhao Shengming thought for a moment and said, “I think the delegates from the other countries should have also noticed something suspicious, right? If everyone works together…”

Elder Han interrupted Zhao Shengming and said, “If all the delegates from the other countries demanded a thorough investigation into Extremistis Country’s favouritism and fraud, we might get results. But if the delegates from the other 21 countries could truly work together like that, then the start date of the National Trial wouldn’t have been moved up.”

Elder Han’s words immediately made Zhao Shengming understand the whole picture.

Indeed, Extremistis Country had always had a poor reputation internationally. When Extremistis Country hosted this year’s National Trial, Dragon Country and countries like Feather Country had voted against it.

Unfortunately, among the 23 countries, most had voted in favour, and finally, Extremistis Country had gotten the rights to host this year’s National Trial.

Later, when Extremistis Country requested to move up the date of the National Trial, the same thing happened again.

In fact, this year’s National Trial had already placed the unfairness on full display from the very beginning.

Most likely, those countries supporting Extremistis Country had received some benefits from the Jin Family behind the scenes.

The Jin Family would benefit from this National Trial and then would share the benefits with the other countries that supported them, achieving a win-win situation.

The ones who truly suffered were targeted participating countries like Dragon Country.

It was very possible that they had put up 20 resources in the wager to participate but would not even be able to get half back.

Zhao Shengming could not help but feel a sense of powerlessness. The electric arcs around his body dissipated, and he deeply sighed. “Elder Han, there’s something I don’t understand.”

“What don’t you understand?” Elder Han smiled.

Zhao Shengming said, “Since you already anticipated that such unfair things would happen in this National Trial hosted by Extremistis Country, why is our Dragon Country still participating in it?”

Elder Han was silent for two seconds then slowly said, “If we withdrew from this National Trial, we would have to withdraw from the Twenty-Three Country Alliance and would never have the chance to participate in a National Trial again. Our country has always been able to be within the top three rankings in the National Trial. We have gained many good resources from it. We naturally can’t give up on this international event just because of Extremistis Country’s schemes.”

After a pause, Elder Han’s voice became firm. “Moreover, I firmly believe that the representative selected by our country won’t be defeated by their schemes! Even if Extremistis Country has no competitive spirit and resort to schemes, what does that count for in the face of absolute strength? Everything is meaningless in the face of absolute and overwhelming strength! I believe in Lu Fan. He will definitely achieve an excellent ranking in this National Trial!”

Zhao Shengming was stunned by Elder Han’s words. He soon thought back about how Lu Fan had always been able to surprise him.

Indeed, in the face of Lu Fan’s overwhelming strength, what was the point of Extremistis Country’s schemes? It would only make them lose face even more after they lost.

“I understand, Elder Han.” Zhao Shengming calmed down. Since he knew that appealing would be meaningless, it was better to put all their hopes on Lu Fan.

If Lu Fan could still come out on top in this situation, he would definitely be a hero of Dragon Country!

After sitting down, Zhao Shengming once again focused his attention on the display screen in the observation room. He wanted to see what Lu Fan would do next after receiving such an impossible Mission.

However, after about half an hour, Zhao Shengming’s body trembled again. Because he never imagined that Lu Fan would come to this place!
