Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 232, A Hard-Fought Battle

Zhao Shengming’s words were cut off halfway as a huge noise suddenly came from Lu Fan’s live broadcast.

Evidently, the battle had officially begun.

The display screen showed powerful Skills being unleashed, causing the entire Dark Castle to violently shake, on the verge of collapse at any moment.

The dazzling light of the Skills flashed continuously, enveloping Lu Fan, his Pet Dragons, and the Diabolical Hell Demon.

Such an intense battle left Zhao Shengming dumbfounded for a moment, forgetting what he was about to say. He could only stare wide-eyed at every frame of Lu Fan’s clash with the Hell Demon on the display screen.

Even he, a Third Profession Player, could not participate in this level of combat.

Who could have imagined that such an earth-shattering battle would occur in the National Trial, which only youths could participate in?

The Hell Demon truly lived up to its reputation as a Level 85 Epic Boss. Back then, it had nearly destroyed Extremistis Country, turning the nation upside down.

Its strength was formidable, presenting a tough challenge even for Lu Fan, who was used to defeating opponents instantly in every battle.

However, Lu Fan was no pushover either. With Xiao Cui’s Buffs, the other four Dragons’ Attributes surged dramatically. Combined with the powerful Bloodline of the Dragon Race, even with the large Level difference, Lu Fan maintained the upper hand, firmly suppressing the Diabolical Hell Demon.

This battle had already lasted for nearly an hour.

The Diabolical Hell Demon had used up all its trump cards, unleashing one incredible Skill after another, even nearly dealing critical damage to a Fallen Corpse Magic Dragon.

However, under the dual defence of Xiao Cui’s Dragon Qi Defence and Jade Shield, the Diabolical Hell Demon had no chance to harm any Pet Dragon.

Finally, Lu Fan seized an opening in the Diabolical Hell Demon’s defence during its life-or-death attack, commanding all his Pet Dragons to go all-in with their attacks.

In an instant, powerful Skills rained down on the Diabolical Hell Demon. Shatter Star, Five Elements Dragon Incantation, and Xiao Ye in her Destruction Dragon Form, along with Lu Fan, jointly cast Magma Burst, triggering the effect of Dragon Language Resonance.

All these Skills combined, completely overwhelmed the Diabolical Hell Demon.

The ghostly shadow on its body and its armour crumbled under the Skills of Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons.

After letting out a final unwilling roar, the Diabolical Hell Demon’s body completely disintegrated, and its ten sharp claws shattered.

“I actually lost again…” This unwilling roar echoed throughout the Dark Castle for a long time.

Lu Fan and all the Pet Dragons present were enveloped in golden light, each simultaneously gaining a Level.

At the same time, the Mission to hunt a Hell Demon was successfully completed, and Lu Fan once again received a substantial amount of Experience Points.

The Experience Points were shared among Lu Fan and his Pet Dragons, yet it was still abundant. Xing Chen, the Lowest Level amongst them, Levelled up again, reaching Level 17!

Finally, everything returned to calm.

The entire Dark Castle fell silent once more.

After such a prolonged battle, Lu Fan was also sweaty and fatigued.

It was not solely because the battle consumed a ton of his stamina. The Diabolical Hell Demon’s power made it a hard fought battle. Lu Fan had to remain fully alert and maintain extreme caution throughout the entire fight.

Thus, although this battle was exhausting, it was also exhilarating.

Lu Fan had rarely experienced such an evenly matched fight. In fact, after this fight, he could clearly feel a significant improvement in his combat awareness and decision making.

Although he had learned quite a bit from sparring with the Beautiful Senior Sister, fighting without Skills, relying solely on combat techniques, was different from going all out and engaging in a life-or-death struggle with a powerful Monster.

Lu Fan gained immensely from this battle. The only regret was that this Hell Demon was not strong enough to challenge him further.

Lu Fan had wanted to use all his trump cards, but in the end, the Hell Demon could not hold out, making it unnecessary for Xing Chen to switch to her other forms.

[Still, I guess it doesn’t matter. There are still eight of the Nine Hell Demons left. For me, they are the perfect whetstones!]

Although the Hell Demon did not require Xing Chen to switch to her other forms, Lu Fan would still have opportunities to experiment with Xing Chen’s powerful Starry Form and Galaxy Overlord Form in battles against the other Nine Eight Hell Demons.

Lu Fan dismounted from Xiao Ye, and there were no more Monsters here. So, they could use this opportunity to take a good rest. After all, from the start of clearing the Dark Castle until now, Lu Fan and the Dragons had been fighting for nearly two hours. Although for Dragons, this battle was equivalent to a warm-up, and if needed, they could fight for three days and nights non-stop, with Xing Chen even having a Skill so that she could fight to the death, Lu Fan was still Human. Even more importantly, as a doting ‘Father’ who cared for his ‘Daughters’, Lu Fan could not be that heartless to push his little girls to that extent.

After the battle, Lu Fan still needed to take care of himself and the Dragons.

Lu Fan checked his points. After defeating the Diabolical Hell Demon and completing the Mission, he had nearly 500K points. He naturally ranked first.

If Lu Fan remembered correctly, when his points had previously reached over 50,000, he was already in first place.

Even if the previous first place had increased their points again, at their pace, reaching 60K would be their limit during these two hours. So, Lu Fan was now at least 440K points ahead of second place.

Right now, even if Lu Fan were to do nothing and just wait for the National Trial to end, he could still easily secure a seat in the top five. In fact, it would take at least four or five days for those behind to catch up in points.

Of course, Lu Fan would not be satisfied with just this. His goal was not just to be first in this National Trial, but to secure as many resources as possible for Dragon Country!

By now, half a day had passed since Lu Fan entered the National Trial Secret Realm.

This Dark Castle, isolated from the ice and snow outside, was a good place to rest, so Lu Fan planned to recuperate here for a while before leaving the Dark Castle to continue his search for more.

If he could find another Mission Scroll to hunt down any of the remaining Eight Hell Demons, that would be a huge boon!

Lu Fan sat cross-legged, rummaging through his Inventory for a moment, wanting to eat some of the delicacies his Aunt had packed for him.

All the Dragons, except for the two Fallen Corpse Magic Dragons, transformed into their Infant Form and gathered around Lu Fan, like children waiting for dinner.

Even the usually rebellious Xing Chen, though still wearing a world-weary expression, was noticeably more obedient than before.

Indeed, not one of Pet Dragon could resist the temptation of good food.

The first thing Lu Fan took out was a large piece of roasted meat.

This roast was naturally different from the crude method used by Andrei. This meat was marinated to perfection, cooked just right, and even brushed with a layer of honey on the surface, making it crispy beyond compare.

Although delicious, this roast was not actually for Lu Fan, but for the Baby Dragons.

Seeing Lu Fan take out the roast, the three Dragons excitedly cried out.

Lu Fan could not help but smile. He used the Flaming Meteor Sword to divide the large piece of roast into three portions, giving one to each of his three ‘Daughters’.

After distributing the meat, Lu Fan was about to eat something himself when he suddenly felt two resentful gazes on his back.

Lu Fan turned to see the two Fallen Corpse Magic Dragons staring longingly at Xiao Ye and the other Pet Dragons eating large chunks of meat, drool dripping from their mouths.

However, noticing Lu Fan’s gaze, the two Fallen Corpse Magic Dragons pretended to look elsewhere, acting as if they did not need to eat meat.
