Chapter 208, You Call This a State Banquet?

The newcomer was none other than Elder Han, Han Feibai. He was followed by two Fourth Profession Players as his personal bodyguards. Upon entering, they did not make any noise, but the entire hall immediately fell silent.

Almost everyone stood up, not daring to remain seated, even the important figures leading the delegations from the 23 countries did the same.

After all, in terms of status, Elder Han was indeed above everyone present.

Not to mention that Dragon Country was one of the most powerful countries in the world today, just the reputation of being one of the Three Elders of Dragon Country had spread throughout various countries.

Ordinary people might not have many chances to see the Three Elders, but foreign high officials should have seen Elder Han at international conferences. Therefore, when Elder Han arrived, the high officials from the 23 countries all recognized him, and dared not be negligent. They did not dare to sit down before Elder Han was seated.

At the same time, discussions began to arise.

“Why did Elder Han come to lead the Dragon Country delegation? Although the National Trial is very important, is it really necessary for Elder Han of all people to personally come to Extremistis Country?”

“Indeed, with his status and position, coming to oversee the National Trial is something we did not expect.”

“Come to think of it, since Elder Han dares to come to Extremistis Country, he should be accompanied by the Four Ultimate Swordsmen, right? How come there are only two Fourth Profession Players beside him, and no sign of the Four Ultimate Swordsmen?”

“The Four Ultimate Swordsmen are Elder Han’s last line of defence. They must have come to Extremistis Country but are just hiding in the shadows. They only appear when Elder Han is in danger.”

“You’re right. That makes sense…”

“I never thought I’d have the chance to see Elder Han on this trip to Extremistis Country… When I was still a secretary in Romantic Country, I had the honour of seeing Elder Han once at an international conference, and was deeply impressed by him. Being able to oversee this year’s National Trial with him is truly an honour!”

“When I arrived yesterday, I heard that Elder Han had come to Extremistis Country as Dragon Country’s main delegate. I didn’t believe it at first, so I didn’t expect it to be true…”

Most of those expressing these sentiments were the delegates from various countries. They were officials selected by the rulers of their respective countries. Naturally, they were also amongst those more familiar with Elder Han.

Even some of the young representatives participating in the National Trial Secret Realm had heard of Elder Han’s reputation. They too sincerely stood up with their country’s delegates to watch Elder Han enter.

Elder Han entered with a smile. Although he was not strong, and lacked their oppressive aura, he still walked with grace.

He smiled and nodded slightly to those present, quickly taking his seat in the Dragon Country section.

Only after Elder Han was seated did others dare to sit down.

However, with Elder Han’s arrival, the scene became noticeably quieter, with almost no one speaking loudly.

After taking his seat, Elder Han did not put on any airs of an important figure. He casually chatted with Lu Fan and Zhao Shengming.

Soon, delegates and representatives from two more countries arrived and took their seats, basically filling all the designated seats for the 23 countries.

Seeing this, the middle-aged man beside Jin Chenghan stood up, clapped his hands, and the hall fell silent.

“Everyone.” The middle-aged man spoke loudly, his voice resonant, likely a High Level Player himself, “Since everyone has arrived, let’s officially begin tonight’s banquet!”

“First, I thank our international friends for coming from afar to our Extremistis Country. Let me introduce myself, I am Jin Zaian of the Jin Family of Extremistis Country. I am both the delegate for Extremistis Country and the overall person in charge of the National Trial.” Jin Zaian bowed slightly, eliciting polite applause from those present.

Jin Zaian continued, “We are very grateful that your countries have allowed our Extremistis Country to host this year’s National Trial. As this year’s host, we will definitely do our utmost to organise the National Trial well.”

“Today is the banquet before the start of the National Trial. We of Extremistis Country, will treat you all to the highest standard State Banquet. Please enjoy yourselves to the fullest.” After saying this, he sat down and clapped his hands.

Immediately, doors on both sides of the hall opened, and a group of tall, young women wearing cheongsams pushed in food carts, placing small plates of dishes in front of everyone.

This was apparently Extremistis Country’s State Banquet.

Originally, Lu Fan had been quite looking forward to the Extremistis Country’s State Banquet, but as the dishes were served, he was dumbfounded.

There were six dishes in total. Although they looked exquisite, a closer look revealed that most were tofu ball soup, cold salads, matsutake porridge with kimchi and etc. The meat dish was just a palm-sized meat steak, possibly made from some Monster’s meat, which should taste decent.

Seeing that after these six dishes were served, the beautiful young women pushed their carts away, Lu Fan scratched his head and asked Zhao Shengming beside him, “Vice Principal Zhao, are these just the appetisers? When will the main course arrive?”

Zhao Shengming looked slightly embarrassed and gestured for Lu Fan to lower his voice, then said, “This is the whole State Banquet. These are not just appetisers. If you feel like it is not enough, you can ask the servers to bring in more.”

“Huh…” Lu Fan was stunned. [You’re telling me this is a State Banquet!? My Auntie’s breakfast is more lavish than this!]

Seemingly noticing Lu Fan’s surprise, Elder Han, sitting next to Zhao Shengming, picked up his chopsticks and explained in a low voice, “Compared to our Dragon Country, Extremistis Country has relatively scarce resources. This is especially the case for its Monster resources and land suitable for agricultural production. They have far less than other countries in this regard. It is only because Extremistis Country is rich in various mineral resources that it can manage to support the country’s development. Many countries need to purchase materials from Extremistis Country to cultivate Enhancement Specialised Players. So, even if Extremistis Country’s economic development is decent, they are lacking when it comes to food. In this regard, we have to be more understanding.”

Lu Fan nodded, thinking to himself that he would just have to endure this so-called ‘State Banquet’ and eat a little.

However, at this moment, a voice suddenly rang out without warning.

“How can anyone get full on this stuff? I’m afraid I’ll starve to death before I even enter the National Trial Secret Realm!”

Unlike Lu Fan and others who maintained the image of a ‘nation of etiquette’ and gave some face to Extremistis Country, this person directly shouted out, loud enough for everyone to hear.

Lu Fan looked towards the voice and saw that it was the representative from Feather Country, a man with a sturdy, robust build.

This man was indeed straightforward, saying whatever he was unhappy about.

Lu Fan had read the profiles of all 23 country representatives and naturally knew that this person was Andrei, the Young Master of the Snow Wolf Totem Family from Feather Country. He has a Hidden Profession, Explosive Flame War God, and he was one of the few Third Profession Players in this National Trial.
