Counterfeit Hero

There was no time to think about where the forces of the Blood Shadow Mecha Group came from. Markovich knew that the Northern Alliance had finally revealed all their cards! What consequences these forces would have once they converged on the already exhausted Northeast Defense Line, he dared not imagine!

And in the face of this overwhelming flood, the bandit army had only one company!

Connecting to the communication, the tired face of Weiseler appeared in front of Markovich.

This Second-level Mecha Commander from the Tai Sect Puluo Branch, ranked just below Monroe, now the battalion commander of the Second Battalion of the 3rd Group, had a personality very similar to Markovich. Silent, stern, meticulous. Whether on the training ground or the battlefield, he was the person Markovich paid the most attention to.

”You know the situation, don’t you?”

Markovich tried to keep his tone calm.

It was necessary to deploy two armored battalions and two infantry regiments, concentrating all capable personnel from the Scadivow Base as reinforcements to the Northeast battlefield. But that required time, and also composure and courage.

”Two hours!” Markovich looked into Weiseler’s eyes, ”No reasoning, no excuse, in any case, you must hold the enemy off for two hours!”

This was a rude order, one that solely belonged to soldiers.

Weiseler was silent for a long time, then solemnly saluted with his hand to his eyebrows, replying simply and crisply, ”Yes!”

Northern Alliance Base.

Ten azure mechas darted about everywhere.

The sounds of gunfire, artillery, explosions, and screams echoed throughout the base.

One mecha after another, attempting to block the bandit army team, fell. One Northern Alliance soldier after another was torn into shreds by the firepower net of the energy machine guns.

This humiliating battle had caused the morale of the Northern Alliance Army to plummet to rock bottom.

Within the base, there was no unit left that could resist the bandit army mecha team. The stationed infantry regiment was dispersed, and the Guard Armor Company was completely annihilated. The entire Northern Alliance Base was like a naked woman stripped and tied to a tree, left to be bullied!

No one knew why a battle that started with the momentum of Mount Tai pressing down turned out like this. This bandit army mecha team that infiltrated Central City was like a mosquito. No matter how the enraged bull of the Northern Alliance struggled, they couldn’t catch it, instead, it was bitten all over.

The armory was set on fire, the military camp was destroyed, the energy supply center, environmental balance system, power distribution room, radar station... everything that appeared in front of the bandit army fell victim to their destructive hands. These guys destroyed everything they saw, even firing at streetlights that could no longer shine.

What was most frustrating was that the voice teasing Feiler never stopped. It’s really unknown where that guy got such an obstinate and obnoxious character. Shouting for more than an hour, his spirit became even more exuberant.

”Feiler, little darling, where are you?”

Ten wolf-like and tiger-like fat ”Rangers” roamed the core area of the base. They kicked anything they saw three times.

Buildings were swept into beehives by the energy machine guns. Rubble flew everywhere, finally collapsing with a roar in the massive 260mm caliber energy cannon light. Northern Alliance soldiers stumbled away from the buildings being bombarded, slipping out of their helmets and gear, looking utterly disheveled.

In the distance, a few Northern Alliance mechas fired randomly with no accuracy. The infantry, herded by officers, timidly hid far away, shooting blindly with their eyes shut. Once the bandit army mecha team approached, they scattered like birds and beasts, unable to be stopped by the officers, causing chaos.

How did this battle turn out like this?!

In the Northern Alliance Command Center, the lights were exceptionally dim due to limited supply from reserve energy. Staff silently watched the flickering virtual screens, looking at the real-time images transmitted from the base-wide monitors, their expressions blank.

The chest of a bandit army mecha rapidly enlarged on the screen, and with a violent tremor, countless bricks and stones mixed with dust fell. The screen rapidly shook, it was the camera falling. When the jumping image finally froze on the rubble-strewn ground, the anti-slip treads under a mecha’s feet appeared in the lens, and after a light sound, there was only darkness left on the virtual screen.

The staff responsible for controlling the monitoring screen looked bewilderingly at Feiler beside him, his finger instinctively touched the screen switch button but quickly retracted. He knew that every lens in these monitors was a scorching slap in the face. Slapping the face of Feiler, who had just arrogantly issued orders.

The 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division had already engaged with the Longxing Association Armor Group’s vanguard. But the retreat planned by the Northern Alliance became a ridiculous fantasy—although the underground command center had not been discovered by the bandit army, the entire Northern Alliance leadership was trapped here, where could the other troops retreat to?!

Time ticked by second by second. Everyone knew that once the temporary line of defense formed by the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division was breached by the Northern Alliance Armored Group, the Northern Alliance would no longer have a chance.

”Hmm?!” From the speaker of the control panel came the voice of a bandit army soldier: ”Colonel, there’s an elevator here. Look, it leads to their underground command center!”

The screen was still black, but the voice was very clear.

”Really, my dear little Feiler is hiding in here. Let’s go down!”

”Our mecha is too big to fit in.”

”If we can’t go in, their mecha can’t go in either. No worries, I’m guessing it’s just a bunch of rookie staff inside. Leave six people to guard the top, the other three follow me.”

”Damn it, it’s locked. Wait...”

”Okay, let’s go!”

The voices disappeared.

The entire command center was in turmoil.

”Courting death!” Feiler waved his hand, and guards quickly opened the armory. The staff, guards, each with murderous intent, queued up, quickly loading their guns. Even Feiler and Selwal each grabbed an old-fashioned pistol.

Dozens of people swiftly formed a semicircle, surrounding the hover elevator. Watching the light indicating the elevator’s descent, the atmosphere throughout the command center was tense and heavy to the extreme.

Even Feiler, who was usually expressionless, couldn’t help his lips from trembling slightly.

If this Fatty could hold off the forces I called from elsewhere returning to the base for just an hour, waiting for the Longxing Association army to press in, neither Selwal nor I would have a chance to escape.

Who knew this guy lost his head, daring to rush into the underground command center with just four people!

If we capture him, the Northern Alliance will regain the initiative!

The thought made a rush of blood surge to Feiler’s head. Seeing the elevator about to arrive, he took two steps forward, grim-faced, pulled the gun’s slide back with one hand, and aimed the barrel at the elevator door.

”Ding!” The sound of the elevator’s arrival rang out.

Under the aim of countless guns, the elevator door slowly opened.

A dead silence!

Under the dazed and despairing gaze of Feiler and others, four miniature mechas with menacing energy cannons popped out cheerfully.

”Wow!” Fatty exclaimed with joy, ”Little darling, I’ve caught you!”
