Counterfeit Hero

Watching a medium-sized Transport Ship with its two wings flashing collision lights being dragged away by the huge automatic tractor arm, disappearing into the external channel of the port. Cheng Zhixuan turned around and looked at Su Kezhou, who was resting his eyes, and said, ”I can hardly believe it, all of this came so easily.”

”Resilience....” Su Kezhou opened his eyes and smiled slightly, ”Isn’t that the most core quality of the Chuckna Nation?”

He stood up, gazing out at Mars Planet, and slowly said, ”The Chuckna is a great nation, a tolerant nation, and accompanying greatness and tolerance is the resilience in our nature! It is this resilience that has brought us victory time and again, allowing our nation to remain independent in the world despite the great integration and turmoil.”

”Indeed.” Cheng Zhixuan sighed: ”After the disintegration of the Earth Federation, when all nations merged together and all cultures could only appear as a certain symbol, the Chuckna culture, with its greatness and tolerance, integrated with other nations. Perhaps, compared to the ancient Earth era, the civilization of Chuckna has changed a lot, but its roots have not.”

”So many wars....” Su Kezhou said, ”This is how we’ve come through. Those who conquered us were absorbed by us, those who invaded us were crushed by us. Resilience gives our nation the ability to always strike back later on!”

”Speaking of these....” Su Kezhou poured Cheng Zhixuan a cup of tea and refilled his own, saying in a nostalgic tone: ”I always think of my mother.”

”She was not pretty, somewhat thin, yet loved beauty. Her personality was somewhat fiery....” Su Kezhou’s expression was unusually gentle: ”When I was young, our family was very poor, and my father died early. My mother worked as a dispatcher at the port, and during busy times, she worked around the clock. In her off time, she guided my brother and sister’s studies, and took care of my grandparents. A family of eight, all the burdens were carried by her alone, for decades. I never heard her complain of hardship or fatigue. I really don’t know how she had such strong power in her body.”

”Can you believe it?” Su Kezhou took a sip of tea, pulling himself out of the memory, and said to Cheng Zhixuan: ”If it were another nation, perhaps they would have collapsed long ago. It seems easy to say, but some hardships are something they can never endure. It wasn’t until I grew up that I realized, in Chuckna, people like my mother, are countless. This nation has a backbone that is inherently capable of bearing hardships.”

”What happened next?” Cheng Zhixuan asked, ”I mean, your mother....”

”Sent off three elders, saw the youngest me get married, then she went traveling.” Su Kezhou smiled bitterly: ”Found a companion and toured various countries. Came back once a year to see us. When we had children, she stayed and helped for two years. Later, she was sitting in a rocking chair, saw a joke, and laughed herself to death. She was eighty-nine when she died.”

”Report....” Su Kezhou’s adjutant walked into the hall, saluted, and said: ”The Iron Armor Division’s First Assault Group and Second Assault Group are ready to board, please instruct.”

Su Kezhou and Cheng Zhixuan turned back, exchanging a smile.

”It’s our turn to show! If the Northern Alliance intends to use space to buy time, we’ll let them know their space is severely lacking!” Cheng Zhixuan saluted Su Kezhou and laughed: ”The only pity is that Fatty stole the spotlight.”

”No worries.” Su Kezhou returned the salute with a smile, ”Wherever he goes, he’s still Chuckna! All glory belongs to Chuckna.”
