Counterfeit Hero

The Northern Alliance soldiers had never imagined what a horrific sight it would be when two mechas, weighing tens of tons each and made entirely of metal, collided at 500 kilometers per hour.

But now, they witnessed it.

In their view, like ten meteors falling from the sky, the green mechas and the completely unprepared beast-shaped mechas nearby created this lifelong terrifying scene— in the blink of an eye, at a speed of several hundred kilometers per minute, the green fatty mechas fiercely collided with their chosen ”Sphinxes.”

”Bang!” The simultaneous impacts amalgamated into an earth-shattering explosion.

The violent soundwave made all the Northern Alliance soldiers present feel a buzzing in their ears. Their bodies trembled uncontrollably amidst this astonishing sound, eyes wide and scalp tingling!

The world seemed to have completely halted the flow of time. In everyone’s perception, that was a moment of absolute stillness. The only thing moving in their view were the ten ”Sphinxes” being hurled away by the collision with the green mechas like water droplets splashed by a stone.

Like a blossoming flower, the ”Sphinxes” flying and falling in different directions from the circular encirclement had lion-like bodies transforming into different shapes in mid-air. They curled up, twisted, rolled, or flew sideways, with tattered and broken parts flung outwards even before their bodies landed.

”Boom! Boom...” The ”Sphinxes,” after what felt like an eternity, finally landed on the ground or crashed onto their comrades... For a moment, the entire Guard Armor Company was in complete disarray.

Many soldiers of the Northern Alliance closed their eyes, knowing that those ten ”Sphinxes,” at the moment of collision, were finished. Under the impact of the green mechas, resembling battering rams, these ”Sphinxes” were like shattered doors.

Although caught off guard, the Guard Armor Company quickly demonstrated their qualities as the most elite Northern Alliance Mecha Warriors. Facing the green mechas plunging into their midst, the ”Sphinxes” rapidly dispersed and maneuvered, and the formation quickly encircled the green mechas, launching a tidal wave of attacks.

”Huh?” Fatty quickly dodged a ”Sphinx” lunging at him, reached back to grab but caught nothing. The ”Sphinx” missed, swung its tail, and in a blink, was out of Fatty’s attack range, blending into the wandering group of lion-shaped mechas.

Before Fatty could finish his surprised exclamation, two more ”Sphinxes” pounced. One leaped into the air, targeting the right side of ”Ranger,” while the other, after rapidly running along the ground, slid with three claws touching down, dust flying as it stretched its left front claw, aiming for Fatty’s right thigh.

The two mechas coordinated seamlessly! Behind them, two other ”Sphinxes” were also poised to strike.

”Damn it!” Fatty accelerated his hand speed to 55 moves, and with ”Ranger” leaping sideways, he planted a foot on the shoulder of the mecha on the ground, delivering a whirlwind kick that sent the airborne ”Sphinx” smashing into two Northern Alliance mechas before it finally stopped.

However, before Fatty landed, two other ”Sphinxes” were already lunging at him from the left and right.

To his surprise, these mecha warriors possessed combat skills far beyond those of the Blood Shadow Mecha Group. Taken aback, Fatty was momentarily flustered but managed to fend off the rapid-fire attacks by dodging and countering.

”The Black Dragon Sect’s Rapid Claw Strike?” Narrowly dodging another ”Sphinx’s” blitz attack, Fatty recognized the move, which is one of the Black Dragon Sect’s signature techniques known for its extremely rapid initiation at short range and unexpectedly concealed sideways punches.

”Surprised?” Turning and falling into the wandering group of mechas, a Northern Alliance Mecha Soldier who had studied at the Black Dragon Sect for years sneered, ”Prepare to die!”

Fatty was rather frustrated. Why are so many people taking things out of context these days? Who said I was very surprised? At most, I was a little surprised.

”Little fellow, who taught you these things?”

While dodging and weaving through the tidal wave of attacks from multiple ”Sphinxes,” Fatty put on an amiable face and tried to chit-chat curiously, ”Tell me, and I’ll give you candy!”

Obviously, no one paid him any attention. The surrounding ”Sphinxes” only intensified their attacks. More and more techniques from various schools became apparent. In just a few minutes, Fatty recognized the signature techniques of more than ten schools.

”Surrender!”

Seeing that the ten green mechas were deep within enemy encirclement, the platoon leader of the Northern Alliance Guard Armor Company, known as the top warrior of the Northern Alliance, Nehem Lempkin, declared coldly over the battlefield, his thick Jiepeng Chris Fran Star accent overshadowing the fierce sounds of mecha combat.

Although at the onset of the battle, this top fighter was somewhat tense due to losses from the bandit army’s sudden attack, his confidence grew as the fight progressed.

In Lempkin’s view, though the green mechas continued to hold their ground amid the consecutive ”Sphinx” attacks, sometimes even managing a counterattack, he was confident that victory was only a matter of time.
