Counterfeit Hero

The Northern Alliance has enough troops to rotate and rest, but the bandit army does not. Even if someone is eyeing Central City, by the time they move to the outskirts of Central City and prepare for the attack, the Northern Alliance can simply drag them down just by stalling! Besides, the bandit army would never expect that the Suss Armored Group is just a cover, the sixth and seventh armored battalions of Blood Shadow are just covers, and even the thousand [Far East Victory] military mechas to the south and the two armored groups to the west are also covers. The real main offensive killers are those two seemingly weakest mixed regiments!

Within these two mixed regiments are concentrated nine Sharp Blade Companies of the Blood Shadow Armored Group! Otherwise, how could the bandit army so easily annihilate the 4th, 6th, and 7th Armored Battalions?

When the time is ripe, the 8th and 9th Armored Battalions will move northward, and the Warrior Mercenary Corps’ first and second armored groups will move southward to join the offensive targeting the northeast of Puluo Town. At that time, this dragon that is Puluo Town will be captured in one fell swoop! By then, no matter how formidable these fifty mechas in Central City are, they won’t stir up any waves!

”Chief of Staff!” A staff officer hurriedly came over, handed Feiler an intelligence report, and reported, ”Just received news, the Bandit Army Mecha Team has bypassed the 2nd Armored Battalion, passed through Louis Business District, and is moving in the direction of our base.”

”That annoying bug,” Feiler sneered, ”Order the 1st and 2nd Armored Battalions to form a fan-shaped defense north of the base. Order the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division to compress the enemy’s activity space slowly from west to east, aiming to entangle the enemy. Order the 2nd Mechanized Infantry Division stationed in the East District to send two regiments, moving from east to west, to defend along Waltz Avenue, preventing the enemy from escaping eastward!”

”Yes...” The staff officer took the order, about to leave, when Selwal suddenly said, ”Wait!”

Selwal walked up to Feiler and whispered, ”Kevin... with such deployment, our defensive line will be very tight. If by any chance...”

Feiler waved his hand, signaling the staff officer to execute the order, turned back, and said to Selwal, ”Within twelve hours, our defense line will not suffer any attacks.”

After speaking, Feiler turned to walk toward the operations monitoring department at the control console, leaving behind a cold remark as he left.

”Next time, don’t tell my staff to wait. I don’t need any doubts in military command. Otherwise, you fight this battle yourself!”

Selwal’s face slowly darkened. It wasn’t because of Feiler’s words, but because he knew that whenever his cousin behaved unkindly, it meant he was in trouble.

Turning to the electronic sandbox, Selwal suddenly lost the composure he had before the battle. If the Suss Armored Group and the 6th and 7th Armored Battalions were attracting attention and buying time for other assaults, then the annihilation of the 4th Armored Battalion in this core region of Central City was totally unexpected!

Even with Feiler’s calculating ability, he didn’t anticipate this move by the bandit army either.

The situation has already started to change, does this mean that within the bandit army, someone possesses the same military talent as Feiler?

Northeast, west, south... When the clock pointed to eight in the morning, Puluo Town was completely enveloped in the sound of artillery.

Every tall building in the entire city, every window or glass curtain wall, every cup of water, every piece of porcelain placed on a table, all trembled in the violent artillery sound.

The terrifying sound waves were everywhere. Even in the deepest parts of the air raid shelters, one could feel the tremors of the earth.

Aside from the children crying out of fear, the adults were all numb. The various rumors that spread earlier had already put their nerves to the test. When the artillery sounded, most of them just looked up at the sky in surprise, exchanging glances that barely counted as horrified with each other, and then it was silent waiting.

Waiting for the outcome of fate.

No one knew if the bandit army could defeat the enemy, if they could allow Puluo Town to continue its previous peace.

People were unwilling, and dared not imagine what would happen when those ferocious soldiers of the Northern Alliance broke into the central city area of Puluo Town. Imagining such a scene was simply too cruel for them. They could only hide in the air raid shelters, coaxing their children, holding their wives, comforting their aging parents.

On the pouring rain streets, the movements of bandit army soldiers in blue uniforms became more frequent. Squads of soldiers advanced silently in the rain. Thick combat boots splashed water as they stepped on puddles. Aside from the heavily loaded trucks carrying weapons, ammunition, and soldiers, there were also civilian trucks temporarily conscripted. Rarely could the sight of mechas be seen on the roads anymore; they had all been sent to the frontline.

Before ten, the streets were already full of vehicles carrying the wounded. All doctors, nurses, medical students, and anyone with some emergency care knowledge were urgently conscripted. All the hospitals in Puluo Town were already overcrowded. Relying solely on the military doctors of the bandit army was simply not enough. Many wounded soldiers lay in the corridors, waiting for treatment. Bloodstained bandages and empty emergency needle bottles were carted away in batches to be disposed of. In the hurry, none of the doctors’ clothes were clean, all were stained with blood to some degree.

Apart from air raid shelters and hospitals and other essential places, the entire city’s power and energy supplies had already been cut off. Sandbags were being piled up, roadblocks set up, trenches dug on the outer streets of the city, many buildings have already been emptied of people and rigged with explosives, in preparation for possible urban warfare.
