Counterfeit Hero

It’s rumored that those folks from the SM Fourth Group and SM Fifth Group, because they don’t have enough mechas and can’t join the battle as infantry, are already nervously pacing around the base.

Although their training time was a bit short, having them operate these ugly yet formidable mechas is certainly better than having the 3rd Group stand their ground like this, right? After all, the mecha losses for the 3rd Group haven’t even reached a platoon yet! As long as they don’t fight the enemy head-on but delay time instead, the Fourth Group and Fifth Group are definitely up to the task!

How come no one thought of this idea? The mechas are absent, but are the Mechanical Warriors the bandit army lacking?! Even if swapping all at once might affect the whole battle situation, surely swapping one battalion at a time is possible, right? This is Puluo Town, a nearby affair, not something too distant to manage. They just need to bring people from the Fourth Group and Fifth Group to the assembly point, and it can be done in a few minutes.

Unfortunately, Fatty is causing trouble with the enemy in Central City, and no one can replace them. Otherwise, they could simply wear down the enemy to death!

Feischer was scurrying around the trench, heading to report to the platoon leader. This matter originally shouldn’t require an infantryman to worry, but Feischer is truly a half-filled can making the loudest noise.

There is no such thing in this world as No Calculation Left. Sometimes, history is changed by a small character!

”Colonel, the First Combat Team has completed the encirclement of the enemy.” Weii Jianshan’s voice came through the communicator. Fatty aimed the long-range viewer at the opposite tranquil side of the little river beneath the golf course. The Northern Alliance infantry camp stationed there was indeed in chaos.

”Second Attack Squad, go!” Fatty ordered: ”Annihilate them all!”

”Yes!” Hagrove, leading the Second Attack Squad, loudly accepted the command, then swiftly led his team to charge from another direction through the city jungle, suddenly emerging and sweeping into the positions of the Northern Alliance infantry camp like a whirlwind.

Fierce artillery fire, deafeningly loud, erupted. A firepower net composed of 260mm Energy Cannons and 80mm energy machine guns instantly covered the positions held by the Northern Alliance infantry. The sandbags and isolation nets built between the villas and low-rise buildings danced amid the shelling and were torn to shreds.

In the sudden attack by two combat units of the Sharp Blade Company, the Northern Alliance officers, obviously unprepared for the enemy’s surprise appearance, loudly issued commands, waving pistols, frantically trying to halt resistance. However, the four old mechas stationed on their positions scarcely had the chance to fire before being destroyed, while the soldiers scurrying everywhere were successively felled under the fierce artillery fire of the Bandit Army Mecha, blood and flesh flying, leaving the survivors no choice but to flee for their lives and abandon everything.

In less than ten minutes, the battle was over. The entire infantry position was a scene of dead silence. The sandbag heaps swept by the Energy Cannons were riddled with holes, sand and torn burlap bags scattered everywhere. The once neatly arranged isolation nets had become disjointed and twisted debris, and some villas and cottages had collapsed, with beautiful ochre-yellow walls marked by large black and brown holes. The rooftop gutters had broken off while trees trimmed into various animal shapes were shredded into a land of broken branches and leaves.

Fatty looked at the electronic map on the mechanical computer and made a mark on it.

This was the sixth Northern Alliance troops’ encampment they had destroyed. After six raids, three Mechanical Warrior companies, two infantry battalions, and one Mixed Battalion had been completely annihilated. This was almost the strength of a Mixed Formation.

On Fatty’s computer, these raid locations scattered here and there, formed no shape.

Fatty was very pleased, believing that the Northern Alliance commander attempting to surround him must be furious by now! His troop movements not only failed to encircle him, but due to his feigned maneuvers, allowed him to slip out of the encirclement and retaliate while moving southward, nibbling at his troops. Now, the operating space for the Super Spearhead Battalion is greater than it was before!

Nibbling at his troops. Now, the operating space for the Super Spearhead Battalion is greater than it was before!

”Colonel!” The voice of the responsible reconnaissance Mechanical Warrior came through the communication channel: ”Two mecha companies are rapidly approaching us from west to east! Estimated contact in three minutes.”

”Sending to our doorstep again,” Fatty rubbed his hands innocently and licked his lips: ”...... Retreat!”
