Counterfeit Hero

Su Kezhou even believed that, when the dust settled on Mars, in the future, just one sentence would be enough for the troops that Fatty organized to defect to the Fei Alliance. Isn’t that what the Fei Alliance Command Center was implying?!

Leaving Su Kezhou with a sincere and satisfied smile, Fatty cut off the communication.

Turning back, the bonfire had already been extinguished.

”I need ten people to go with me to the Northern Alliance Base.” Fatty clenched his fist as he looked towards the direction of Puluo Town: ”There, there’s a bunch of bastards! For every second we let these bastards live, an innocent person dies. They may be our parents, they may be our children...”

”Damn it, I’ve got no time to waste words with you.” Fatty looked at his watch: ”Anyone coming with me, step forward!”

Without any hesitation, the disordered crowd simultaneously shifted one step forward toward Fatty.

”Second combat team, come with me!” Fatty’s eyes were slightly red. Attacking the enemy’s base was, to an ordinary person, essentially a suicide mission. Yet, these warriors stepped forward without hesitation. This meant that after leaving Leray, he finally had comrades he could trust his back to.

They were Mars people, he was a Leray person.

It was this war that tightly bound them together.

In the night, a group of men glanced silently at each other. Among men, there’s a connection called trust.

Trust that you entrust your life to!

”I’m a coward; I don’t do suicidal things. Their armored main force has already been redeployed, the most dangerous place, instead, is here.” Fatty spat a hot spit, climbed onto the mecha, gritting his teeth: ”All of you stay alive, I still need to settle scores with you all... A bucket of chili water for everyone when we get back!”

”Fatty!”

A warrior from the Black Dragon Sect called out to Fatty. He called him Fatty, not Colonel.

This black-faced man in his thirties grinned, showing his white teeth: ”Have a drink?”

A bottle of vodka was divided into fifty parts, each getting just a tiny bit.

The alcohol percentage was only medium-high, and just a little bit of this pure alcoholic-tasting liquid could warm one’s entire body.

Each heavy cockpit cover closed tightly under the contraction of the hydraulic system. The sound of engines starting roared one after another.

A loud ”boom” came from the north of the First Airport.

Suddenly, the sound of cannon fire was deafening.

That was Weii Jianshan’s first combat team making their move.

****************************************************************************************

On the giant virtual screen of the Northern Alliance Base command center, real-time footage played.

In the First Aviation Port, the shrill sound of alarms, the shouts of Northern Alliance soldiers, the roaring cannon fire, and explosions had all merged into a cacophony. The searchlights installed on various buildings, base walls, watchtowers, and sandbag fortifications were sweeping wildly like crazed eyes. Amid the intersecting beams of light, the rapid small red light of energy gun muzzles and the relatively slower thick white light of energy cannons flashed like twinkling Christmas tree lights in the dark night.

Countless Northern Alliance soldiers scrambled fearfully to avoid the artillery fire. The terminal, helipads, barracks, roads, greenery, gardens... every inch of land was covered with the firelight of explosions.

In just fifteen minutes, the Bandit Army Mechas had broken through the outskirts of the port’s defensive lines and were advancing towards the center of the airport. The infantry regiment responsible for the port’s defense had already suffered nearly half casualties, and collapse was imminent. Meanwhile, the reinforcements that had been dispatched, the closest of them, was still an hour away from the port.

”Increase the intensity of artillery bombardment on the central area of Puluo Town,” Feiler ordered calmly. He no longer watched the battle footage filmed by the airport’s navigation tower’s surveillance device but buried his head over the electronic sand table of Puluo Town, continuing to listen to the staff officers’ reports on the situation in Puluo Town.

In the command hall, the sounds of communication calls, the operation of computer instruments on the main console, the tapping of keyboards, footsteps; all seemed to return to the previous normal state. The staff officers continued their busy work, only occasionally exchanging peculiar glances when their eyes met, quickly looking away afterward.

Everyone knew that no matter how calm Feiler’s face appeared, it was twisted with frustration.

That Leray fatty not only humiliated him in the field where Feiler was most skilled but also, in front of everyone, slapped Feiler’s dignified face with a resounding slap!

”Bah, you’re not worthy of playing calculations with me... Clean up and wait, bastard!”

This phrase uncontrollably swirled in the staff officers’ minds. Whenever they thought of this line, it was as if they could see the venomous tongue flickering in the foamy mouth of that fat man.

The worst part was that this bastard cut the connection to dodge responsibility right after cursing, not giving Feiler any chance to retaliate! Being sprayed all over, yet only faced with a dark screen, one could imagine how stifled Feiler felt.

The battle was still in a stalemate. However, the staff officers felt increasingly uneasy deep down.

When they initially attacked Puluo Town, no one could find fault with Feiler’s battle plan. He had thought of everything, had tactical adjustments reserved for the most unpredictable and adverse situations. Yet no one anticipated, as these battles unfolded, the situation would become what it is now! Who knows what scenarios will arise in the upcoming fights?

How come that militia is so skilled in combat?

Surrounding the electronic sand table, the staff officers were chattering away with suggestions. Attempting to find a method to decisively defeat their opponent. However, the defensive lines of Puluo Town hadn’t been breached yet, and the bandit army squad from Central City was rapidly on the verge of taking over the First Aviation Port.
