Counterfeit Hero

”Route?” Noticing Feiler’s abnormality, Selwal also turned his attention to the electronic sand table.

Soon, he discovered the issue that Feiler had noticed.

From the sand table, it was evident that the mysterious armored squad first broke through the Northern Alliance’s Perfume Street defensive line from west to east, and then directly headed northeast toward the Inner River Bridge. After blowing up the Inner River Bridge, they turned to the southeast, eventually encountering the 4th Armored Battalion that came to encircle them on Champs Elysees Street.

It was this strange route that caught the attention of both Feiler and Selwal - this armored squad clearly took a large detour! If they intended to attack the base, then moving southwest from the Perfume Street defensive line, crossing the Inner River Seven-Hole Bridge and then turning northeast to strike the base directly, would have been much closer than taking such a long detour!

According to the Northern Alliance’s defense deployment, the overall focus was inclined towards defending the west and north. After all, the southeast, north, and east sides of Central City, as well as the northeast and southeast sides, were all under the control of the Northern Alliance. On the west, not only was there the bandit army of Puluo Town, but towards the northwest, there was the Longxing Association, long regarded as the greatest enemy, occupying Bering Port and Hidden Dragon Port.

Since the Sect War began, Selwal had not relaxed his vigilance against the Longxing Association. The shared intelligence from the Suss Empire also clearly indicated the relationship between the Longxing Association and the Chuckna Republic. Unlike the mutual exploitation between the Northern Alliance and Suss, the Longxing Association had been marked by the Chuckna National Security Bureau since its inception!

There is evidence that over the past decade, the Chuckna National Security Bureau has never relaxed its control over the Longxing Association. Most of the ground armed forces and space fleet of this organization were secretly assisted in their establishment by the Chuckna Government, and they were rife with Chuckna agents and military personnel.

After all, the Mars Free Channel is inseparable from the Chuckna Main Channel. Countless ships enter Mars via the Main Channel or the Free Channel into the Main Channel. As a sovereign state located at the center of several major nations’ star domains, Chuckna is naturally very sensitive to this channel that concerns economic interests, national security, and intelligence sources.

Thus, the existence of the Longxing Association as an intelligence source and an armed force for executing inconvenient secret missions was inevitable. For many years, the Longxing Association has been monitoring the Free Channel for Chuckna, capturing various types of intelligence and executing various tasks with their reach.

As a thorn in Mars Planet from Chuckna, the support for Longxing Association has never ceased secretly. The equipment and personnel were configured according to key organizational standards. If it weren’t for the need to avoid attention, Chuckna could even directly make the Longxing Association into a military organization!

Even if they can only be equipped with personnel and weapons as a commerce group, the support in other aspects is much stronger. The opponents of the Longxing Association who have inexplicably fallen within the borders of Chuckna or even under the hands of the Chuckna Fleet in the Main Channel are numerous. This is also why the Longxing Association never participates in the power struggles of the Free World, yet has stood firm for many years.

According to intelligence from Suss, before the war broke out, the Chuckna Republic secretly transported a large amount of weapons and equipment to the Longxing Association. Apparently, it was preparing for the Longxing Association to control Mars Free Port. However, because the Suss Empire suddenly launched an attack on the Resk Star System and occupied the Main Channel, the Longxing Association could no longer receive support from the Chuckna Republic, thereby maintaining its low profile.

With the progress of the war, the Chuckna Republic has gathered heavy troops for a counterattack in the Resk Star System, attempting to lock Suss back into the Eastern Star Domain and regain control of the Main Channel. Meanwhile, it is now the most critical moment of the Mars war, and if Selwal is not wary of the Longxing Association at this time, he would be underestimating his own intelligence!

Observing the route of this never-before-seen Mecha Team, gradually, a thought leaped into the minds of both Selwal and Feiler. For a moment, they exchanged glances, their expressions grave.

So far, they still do not know the origins of this Mecha Team. On Mars Planet, the ability to breach the Northern Alliance’s defenses so easily without any casualties was not something they could find on their list of forces. More importantly, they still do not know the operational objective of this squad. Without an operational objective, why would this squad place itself in such a dangerous position just to create such a chaotic scene?

Clearly, this is not the answer to the question. No commander would issue such an order.

From the map, because of the attack by this Mecha Team, the defensive line from Perfume Street to the northwest Inner River Bridge has been wrecked. Meanwhile, in order to contain these dozens of mechas, the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division was redeployed from the defensive line along the Inner River Shipping Bridge back to defense.... Selwal and Feiler simultaneously thought of the same possibility - now is the crucial period for the Northern Alliance’s attack on Puluo Town, and if the Longxing Association seizes this opportunity.......

”Any news from Bering Port and Hidden Dragon Port?” Feiler suddenly turned to look at the staff officer beside him.

”Everything is normal....” The staff officer checked the classified intelligence on the central control panel computer and reported: ”Currently, no unusual actions have been detected from the Longxing Association.”

”No abnormalities?” Feiler once again fell into deep thought. Sitting on the high stool in front of the electronic sand table, he folded one arm across his chest and supported his temple with the other hand. After a long while, he suddenly began typing rapidly on the keyboard.
