Counterfeit Hero

”Everyone heard, right?” Fatty turned around, surveying the crowd.

The response to Fatty was a deeply muted gasp. The warriors clenched their jaws so tightly that they creaked.

Most of the people present had family in Puluo Town. Wives, children, parents; that was their home, the most central and precious thing in their lives. Before coming to Puluo Town, they had already lost many relatives. If they lost even this last bit of family, they would have nothing left!

Fatty wiped his swollen lips with his sleeve, swooping down on the ground: ”Do I need to tell you what to do?”

There was still deadly silence. In the chilling night, the faces of the warriors were calm and unperturbed, but under the reflection of the campfire, there was clearly a grimace akin to wolves baring their teeth.

In the night, the surrounding towering Mechas cast long shadows, like steel monsters.

Standing next to the Mechas was a group of disjointed men.

Some were fat, some thin, some tall, some short. Among them, the oldest was over forty, and the youngest just in their early twenties.

If these men were placed beside a regular army’s formation, they wouldn’t even be comparable to the militia!

Now, they stood there silently, near and far. The formation was not neat, and their uniforms were dirty and wrinkled. However, the flicker of the campfire on their bodies and faces drew a sharp murderous aura, as savage as any elite troop!

The neatest formations are not the elite troops.

The best scores in training subjects are also not from elite troops.

Members of the elite troops have always been the overbearing, invincible soldiers. Their pride is built upon countless winning battles! Forget about failure, even a victory without flaw is a disgrace to them!

Twenty-four hours ago, these civilian Mecha masters could only be considered a bunch of rookie recruits barely knowing how to march.

Even though they piloted Tenth Generation Mechas and mastered state-of-the-art Mecha Martial Arts, they were still far from being invincible soldiers. Without the baptism of blood and fire, in the eyes of seasoned soldiers, their skills were worth nothing!

But twenty-four hours later, under Fatty’s lead, they had penetrated and withdrawn from the enemy’s core stronghold several times, repeatedly crushing numerically superior enemies and breaking through bloody paths. They had drenched the essence of military slaughter with the blood of over a thousand Northern Alliance Mechas and several thousand soldiers!

Such battlefield tempering, a day, is enough!

”Beep... beep...” The communicator on the Mecha rang again. The crisp sound was exceptionally loud in the silence of ruins.

Fatty turned back and pressed the connect button.

”Colonel Tian...?” An old man appeared on the screen.

Seeing this person on the screen, Fatty immediately sighed with relief in his heart.

”My surname is Su, from the Longxing Association, Su Kezhou.” The old man said with a smile.

”I thought you really could endure it.” Fatty waved his hand boldly and generously said, ”In an hour, the First Airport is yours. One word, do you want it?”

”Yes!” Su Kezhou was taken aback but promptly replied decisively.

”But you can’t take it for nothing...,” as soon as the other party’s thoughts were exposed, Fatty’s straightforward and generous facade disappeared: ”We’ve done all the dirty and heavy work, this profit distribution afterward... wouldn’t you find it embarrassing to take the lion’s share?”

The anticipated military genius turned out to be so haggling. From heroic to haggling, his expression changed without transition.

For a moment, Su Kezhou found it amusing and vexing.

He didn’t care about any profit distribution; not to mention the current Mars being completely wrecked; even if it were intact, for the resource-rich Chuckna Republic, there was nothing to covet. What the Longxing Association needed was control over the Mars Planet region, to clear all opposing forces, and work with Chuckna domestically to threaten and control the main route.

Fatty’s attitude now, in Su Kezhou’s eyes, was as ridiculous as a beggar trying to negotiate over a fat piece of meat with a wealthy man.

In the study, Su Kezhou and Cheng Zhixuan exchanged a glance, both feeling slightly regretful.

This Fatty had already demonstrated jaw-dropping military talent; however, ultimately, they were just a wanderer from a country whose capital was about to fall to the Western Alliance, internally fractured.

His identity already doomed the fate of the army he led.

Based on the signals passed by the Fei Alliance Joint Command, they obviously no longer trusted the Leray Federation. And the failing Leray had lost the capital to cooperate with Chuckna. Despite their Vice President being at the Presidential Palace every day, there were no updates on any cooperation plans with Leray. One day, if the Leray Federation becomes like the Saleria Federation, then every Leray person would be facing more than just a trust issue.

An overweight person from such a country raising a militia in the Free World could only be described as left unloved, ignored by all.

Looking at the screen, the dirty-faced Fatty vigilantly watching him, Su Kezhou smiled faintly and nodded.

This was merely a resource-deprived planet. Even if the bandit army hugged all Mars’ personnel, factories, and territory to themselves, it wouldn’t make much difference! Without a powerful fleet, they could only be nestled on this planet. Handling them is much easier than dealing with the Northern Commerce Alliance backed by the Western Alliance and equipped with a fleet.
