Counterfeit Hero

”It’s useless,” Feiler spoke in the silence, ”The First Aviation Port won’t hold out that long. Our armored units won’t make a difference even if they rush over.”

Feiler took a deep breath and stood up. Despite the arrogance he had nurtured over the years making it difficult to accept such a defeat, he knew as a competent Commander that personal emotions must be set aside!

”For now, we need to trade space for time,” Feiler’s face was expressionless, ”Although we are facing difficulties temporarily, don’t forget, our forces are launching the final assault on the bandit army in Puluo Town; a breakthrough could happen at any moment! Even if we give up Central City to the enemy, as long as our main forces remain intact and we can capture Puluo Town and annihilate the bandit army’s main forces, this game is not lost.”

”It’s one hour until Longxing Association’s airborne troops arrive at the First Aviation Port,” Feiler stretched his hand over the electronic sandbox toward Lille Port, ”An hour later, until our stationed fleet in the airway and the reinforcements from the Suss Empire arrive, we’ll be facing a tough battle. Resist each step, establish layered defenses! As long as we can stall Longxing Association’s advance, we can retreat to Lille Port and take Puluo Town, eventually forming a north-south standoff!”

Feiler’s analysis revitalized everyone’s spirits.

Indeed, the Northern Alliance hasn’t lost yet! In Central City, there are still nine infantry groups and four armored camps, including Blood Shadow First Battalion! In the other five port cities, there are an additional six armored groups and ten infantry groups, and in the Puluo Town and Bering Port line, there are five Northern Alliance armored groups and two mixed formations!

Establishing a blocking position to cover the main force’s retreat to Lille Port is just a regular strategic maneuver! As long as they hold out until the Suss reinforcements arrive, whatever is lost can be regained! Eliminating the bandit army’s grave threat means this war isn’t lost!

”Orders!” Feiler quickly issued orders: ”3rd Mechanized Infantry Division, 5th Mechanized Division, construct blocking positions southwest of the First Aviation Port, west of the Inner River to cover the main force’s retreat!”

Yes, a staff officer saluted promptly and went to deliver the orders.

”Order Blood Shadow First Battalion to fall back immediately and establish blocking positions northwest of the First Aviation Port to cover the transfer of base materials...”

”Order Blood Shadow 3rd and 5th Armored Battalion, retreating from the Northern Industrial Zone, to immediately change their route, rushing to kilometer E1005 on the 3rd Resource Highway via the 5th Resource Highway, and establish the second line of defense by noon tomorrow!”

”Order the Warrior First Mecha Group and Second Mecha Group to launch the assault on Puluo Town by 10 PM, integrating the first to ninth Blood Shadow Sharp Blade Company of the Mixed Formation, and prepare for battle in advance. Increase artillery preparation by two units, ensure success in one go.”

”Order.......”

Feiler’s voice quickened, with orders being issued one after another, while the staff officers stood straight with their heads high, loudly receiving them.

In an instant, amid the rapid-fire decisiveness of commands and the loud responses of the staff officers, the Northern Alliance Command Center cleared the earlier gloom, and morale was high.

Longxing Association will take at least three hours to amass superior forces against the Northern Alliance, so why fear! With the 3rd 5th Mechanized Infantry Division blocking, Blood Shadow First Battalion assisting, and Blood Shadow 3rd 5th Battalion inserting into the 3rd Resource Highway to establish a second line of defense, what’s to fear from the enemy? Once Puluo Town is captured and Suss reinforcements air-drop on Mars, the Northern Alliance will remain the ruler of this world!

The entire command center started functioning at high speed, cutting through the fog to strive for another outcome!

Suddenly, a voice froze everyone’s movements and footsteps. People looked around in horror, trying to spot a different expression on their companions’ faces.

But they were disappointed. From the panic in each other’s eyes, they confirmed that it wasn’t their imagination, that it was indeed the base’s shrill alarm!

”Hoo...” The alarm in the command center, after a one-second delay, finally emitted its hysterical scream. The red light spun furiously on everyone’s faces.

”Chief of Staff...” The staff officer who had just reported the fleet being attacked stood up again from the central control station.

His face was pale, his body shaking continuously, as if he might collapse at any moment: ”The base gate has been attacked by the bandit army mecha....”

Bandit army again! Feiler felt as if his head was being hammered, stars spinning wildly.

”Chief of Staff...” The communications officer also stood up from in front of the central control station: ”The bandit army Commander wants to talk to you!”

”Connect!” Feiler’s eyes were bloodshot, his teeth clenched as he spoke.

The communications officer hurriedly pressed the connection button.....

”Feiler! Get your ass ready, I’m coming!” At the moment the communicator connected, it exploded with Fatty’s yelling.

Zzz.....before everyone could react, the communication was cut off once again.

”Smash!” A coffee cup flew to the corner, shattering into pieces.

”A successful surprise attack!”

Cheng Zhixuan stood in the control tower lobby of the No. 13 Space Port, looking out through the three hundred and sixty-degree floor-to-ceiling windows at Mars Planet, which filled the entire view to the left, and sighed softly.

He liked the feeling of standing atop the spaceport; on one side was the enormous planet soon to be controlled by Longxing Association, while on the other side was the deep and vast universe.

Like a flat devil ray, the No. 13 Space Port floated quietly in Mars’s orbit. It was a massive steel monster entirely built by humans. Standing at the console that overlooked the entire spaceport, Cheng Zhixuan always marveled at humanity’s insignificance and its incredible creativity.
