Counterfeit Hero

This was another slap in the face from the opponent, from the moment they struck to when it landed, incredibly slow, yet impossibly unavoidable, the feeling of humiliation almost made Feiler grind his teeth to bits!

”Kevin......”

Feiler turned his head, looking at Selwal who was watching him with a worried expression.

”I think, maybe we should abandon this battle,” Selwal placed the battle report in his hand on the table, lightly tapping it with his fingers, speaking in a low tone.

Feiler knew that it was the battle report from Puluo Town.

So far, the battle situation in Puluo Town was still at a stalemate. The infantry of the bandit army was astonishingly tenacious. And their only armored group was also tirelessly conducting containment and harassment in the periphery. The attacking troops had already suffered quite a bit at their hands.

Clearly, Selwal had begun to doubt the future direction of the battle.

Facing this almost direct questioning, Feiler didn’t speak.

”Just now, Chuck talked with me. He was very displeased about us not providing him with accurate information and concealing the battle plan.” Selwal averted his gaze from Feiler, looking at the ceiling, as he changed the topic: ”Originally, if Puluo Town could be swiftly occupied as planned, I would have supported your plan. But now, the situation is already out of control, the combat power of the bandit army has exceeded our expectations. If we continue to fight, even if we win, we’ll be severely damaged. This doesn’t align with our interests. I suggest, we might as well.....”

”You want to involve the Suss people more deeply?” Feiler interrupted Selwal, speaking coldly.

”The Blood Shadow Mecha Group is our most elite unit.” Selwal, having his intentions seen through, spoke in anger and shame: ”But now, we’ve already lost four battalions!”

Selwal, unlike Feiler, was more like a practical politician, having a natural sharp judgment for interests.

Previously letting the Suss people tackle the tough problem was to cover the other attacking forces against Puluo Town, restraining the Suss from playing too great a role in the Northern Alliance’s occupation of Mars Planet, thus avoiding further deep involvement of the Suss, this giant entity. However, as the battle situation progressed, watching the strength meticulously built by Feiler being squandered, Selwal felt somewhat pained. Without these forces, he was nothing in the Rejuvenation Society!

Feiler was a genius in the eyes of those elders in the Rejuvenation Society, but Selwal reached where he was today through decades of painstaking efforts!

Using the hands of the Suss to solve Mars, and then finding a way to control power, was always better than now fighting the bandit army to mutual destruction. Moreover, with the Bandit Army Mecha Team continuously tearing apart the defense system of the Central City, now, Selwal could not even ensure his own safety.

Once the Longxing Association takes the opportunity to dispatch troops, the Northern Alliance will face a disaster.

”Is there a war without deaths?” Feiler checked the time, gritting his teeth as he spoke: ”Our previous battle plan already considered the worst-case scenario. Now that the battle has reached this point, there’s no turning back for us. If we allow the bandit army to gain breathing and development time, we’ll forever lose the opportunity to strangle them. We might as well play it bigger!”

”Play it bigger?” Selwal stared blankly at Feiler. Indeed, in the battle plan, Feiler had formulated a plan targeting the intervention of the Longxing Association and clearly intended to carry it through to the end. It would be a battle that risks everything. If won, it would win the entire Free World, if lost, it would lose everything.

Selwal straightened his body, wanting to object, but thinking that perhaps the defense line of Puluo Town could be breached at any second, and considering that the Longxing Association had not taken any action yet, he hesitated. At least now, the Central City was still safe. Maybe wait and see a bit more?

”Order the Blood Shadow 3rd Battalion and 5th Battalion stationed in the Northern Industrial Zone to set off immediately and return to the Central City area for reinforcements.”

”Order the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division and subordinate units of the First Mechanized Infantry Division to abandon the peripheral positions, withdrawing to the line along the Inner River. Order the East District garrison and Southern District garrison to compress towards the Central City area.”

”Order the 3rd Group of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Division stationed at the First Aviation Port to hold the position firmly. All nearby units, immediately rush to the airport to assist in defense.”

”Order the 3rd Company of Blood Shadow 2nd Battalion to merge into the Blood Shadow First Battalion, to be unified under the command of the First Battalion Commander, and rush to the First Airport for support.”

After issuing several orders to adjust the defense system, Feiler gritted his teeth and said: ”Order the First and Second Armored Groups of the Warrior regiment to immediately detach from the logistics convoy and rush at full speed to the northeast battle zone of Puluo Town. Order Blood Shadow 6th and 7th Battalions to converge towards the Mixed Formation.”

His eyes glistened with a manic light: ”Order all other units to maintain a holding attack, launching missiles towards the Central City of Puluo Town around the clock, covering with long-range artillery. Engage in indiscriminate attacks!”

The staff officer recording the orders, with trembling hands, wrote down this command. He knew that the nearest units to the Central City of Puluo Town were only 27 kilometers away. The two million civilians of Puluo Town would all be within the range of artillery fire. If truly subjected to 24 hours of indiscriminate attacks, that place would turn into a hell!

This was Feiler’s counterattack against the opponent who humiliated him!
