Counterfeit Hero

If it weren’t for the timely involvement of the Reinhardt Group’s 175th Division, Rashid believed that under the close combat of the 1st Group’s warriors, these enemies tangled at their heels would likely be completely annihilated here.

The assault wave launched by the 175th Division not only rescued the 3rd Group of the scattered 181st Division but also brought trouble to Rashid’s 1st Group. On the left wing of the 1st Group, the 3rd Group of the 25th Division, consisting of Freedom Fighters, was ultimately not a mature armored unit. After nearly four hours of combat, they were gradually collapsing in the face of a full regiment’s assault by the 175th Division.

This wasn’t due to a lack of courage among the Freedom Fighters, but because most of them were only Level 1 and Level 2 warriors. Such armored units are the most ordinary and lowest-level third-rate troops in Gazalin. They could somewhat handle auxiliary attacks by bearing a little pressure on the flanks against the 181st Division, but once they encountered the top-tier armored division like the 175th, their weaknesses were immediately exposed.

In desperation, Rashid could only release the 1st Battalion to support the left wing, while the 2nd Battalion and the 3rd Battalion, which had just intercepted the enemy, contracted their defenses. His reserve force retreated back to support the front-line defense. The departure of the 1st Battalion sharply increased the pressure of attacks on the 1st Group.

The 1st Group wasn’t faring well, and neither was Stewart’s 2nd Group. In the initial and subsequent infiltration and division maneuvers during the battles, they had consumed nearly two regiments of the 181st Division. But after several hours of combat, the enemy’s offensive showed no sign of abating, the 2nd Group’s casualty rate had risen to ten percent, and many were injured, leaving the remaining warriors utterly exhausted.

The only group having a relatively easier time was Jiasier’s 3rd Group. This super-large regiment, mainly composed of former Mixed Army warriors, had one-third more mecha. Additionally, to ensure its combat effectiveness, Fatty had painstakingly equipped it with medium and heavy mecha, making up half the total, providing a long-range firepower advantage.

As a result, the 3rd Group had always been positioned behind the 1st and 2nd Groups, responsible for fire cover. Less than five kilometers behind them was a defensive line guarded by two fully mechanized infantry divisions.

At this moment, Reinhardt was still continuously investing forces. Since he couldn’t deploy entire divisions, he sent subsequent reserve forces in regiments, maintaining superiority in numbers, firepower, and stamina on the battlefield. He wanted to see how long these Leray people and inferior Freedom Fighters could withstand such a saturation attack, personally watching this armored unit being worn down to collapse by relentless assaults.

Seen from space, Biekelan, this black-brown industrial planet, might be the least conspicuous one in the Little Pyrenees Star System. Not to mention how it pales in comparison to the lush Mezrich, even the largely white Minsk in the polar regions looks much prettier.

Despite its unobtrusiveness, everyone knows that Biekelan’s status in Gazalin is second only to the Capital Star Mezrich. This planet hosts a permanent population of 220 million and a mobile population of nearly 40 million. Nearly forty percent of Gazalin’s industrial power is concentrated on this immigration planet, which controls eleven resource planets around it.

This is a rare Class A planet that has both the mineral reserves of resource planets and the immigration planet’s environment. Even in the ranking of all human immigration planets, such a planet can rank within the top hundred.

The thirty-plus cities scattered across the planet are essentially massive factories. The cities are meticulously selected and laid out, surrounded by countless mining areas, metal veins, and energy wells, with substantial output. Years of construction have established a complete production system in Biekelan.

Raw materials harvested from mining areas can quickly flow into the city’s production zones via resource highways, undergoing simple processing before continuing as upstream raw materials to downstream factories or other industrial cities. Over a dozen high-grade resource highways span the globe like conveyor belts on an automated production line. In this precise division of labor and cooperation, the entire planet produces all industrial products visible in Gazalin.

Coupled with the close proximity of more than a dozen resource planets around Biekelan and the already established large-scale space extraction and transportation channels, it’s no exaggeration to call Biekelan the industrial heart of Gazalin!

However, now all cities, factories, and resources of this industrial heart have been forcibly ”leased” by the Desic Empire.

The six super space docks initially built for resource planet extraction have now become military ports for the Desic Empire. Gazalin’s shipbuilding industry, mechanical manufacturing, electronics industry, and military industry concentrated in Biekelan have completely fallen into the hands of the Desic people. Hundreds of large and small shipyards and factories are under military control, only able to produce according to Desic military orders.

Since acquiring this long-coveted planet, Desic Empire enterprises have flooded in for exploitative extraction, while the military has added troops four times, attempting to transform Biekelan into a forward base and military stronghold for attacking the Galileo Star System. The stationed forces here once reached up to two million.

It wasn’t until the Galileo Star System was captured by the Desic army that Biekelan’s garrison surged into Lucerne as the offensive progressed, slightly reducing their numbers. Even so, there still remained three mixed fleets, six armored divisions, and more than ten infantry divisions stationed here.

Recently, however, the residents of Biekelan have noticeably felt something amiss. Desic people have not only deployed armed soldiers and mecha on the streets for continuous patrolling and surveillance but have also issued several regulatory orders. Notably, interstellar traders coming to Biekelan are required to leave the Biekelan airspace within a stipulated time, with all interstellar vessels prohibited from approaching the space port.

Relating to the battles occurring at Mezrich, all these abnormalities fuel discussions among the Gazalin people on Biekelan, speculating that the Desic people might be facing a significant problem. The source of this problem, naturally, pertains to the Fei Alliance’s Southeast Expeditionary Army, which is fiercely assaulting Mezrich.

Everyone knows that in two weeks, Biekelan will receive the fifth troop reinforcement from the Desic Empire. This reinforcement is intended to address the Southeast Expeditionary Army, formed by the Knevel Empire and the two major countries, Feiyang and Ryan, who have declared war.

After all, the Little Pyrenees is the primary path for Desic’s army to attack Leray. If this passage becomes insecure, it directly threatens the entire operational system against Leray.

And now, the forces stationed in Biekelan are already stretched thin.

Among the three mixed fleets, one fleet has just withdrawn from the Galileo Star System, and after nearly half a year of fighting, this fleet’s actual combat strength is only half of what it once was. Therefore, relying on these three fleets to resist the four strong mixed fleets of the Fei Alliance’s advanced forces is indeed challenging.

The sudden developments in the Mezrich battle a few days ago have further shrouded Biekelan’s situation in a layer of unpredictable mystery at this crucial moment.

The Feiyang people have neither targeted Biekelan nor intended to engage in a decisive battle with the Desic people. They cunningly aimed at Mezrich while Desic forces were scarce! As long as they stabilize their footing in Mezrich, the Expeditionary Army can truly contend with the Desic in this star system, effectively tying down Desic in the Little Pyrenees!

While the populace continued to discuss the rumors from informed sources regarding whether the entire Desic fleet stationed at the space port had left, unbeknownst to them, five fleets of the Fei Alliance’s Expeditionary Army had already entered the Biekelan airspace.

”Hm!” A sharp and high-pitched alarm wailed, throwing Space Port Five of Biekelan into chaos. The Desic soldiers stationed here swiftly emerged from all directions, rushing to their positions. Meanwhile, the dozen energy main cannon towers had already swiftly rotated, their massive gun barrels emerging from armored forts, guided by locking procedures to aim squarely at the direction from which the enemy fleet was advancing.

Amid the chaos of the port, hundreds of energy light spheres, like the Holy Light of the Heavenly God, suddenly descended upon the port, turning everything in the white light into ashes.

All sins, all glory, all fear, all life.

”General!” A colonel in a Space Fleet uniform briskly entered Hall’s office, reporting: ”We’ve just received a message from Biekelan. Four main fleets of the Fei Alliance’s Southeast Expeditionary Army and one composite fleet led by Gordon have breached into Biekelan. Space Ports Five and Six have been destroyed.”

”Oh.” This startling news didn’t seem to shock the Chief of Staff, Hall. He merely looked up at the reporting colonel and calmly asked, ”Are you sure it’s five fleets?”

”Absolutely certain, General!” The colonel replied calmly.

”They’ve come after all.” Hall furrowed his brows, pondering.
