Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 410: Volume 5, Chapter 28, Miniature Mecha_2

The training program was devised by Tian Xingjian.

The special training the bandit army previously underwent pales in comparison to the current training. Fatty not only used his real-life experiences of surviving over twenty near-death situations as teaching material, but also enhanced the coordination in frontline combat and tactical drills.

Incorporating the small team cooperation from the Hunter Corps and wave-cover tactics from the Mythical Army, along with the bandit army’s own wolf pack tactics and entanglement strategy, the combat prowess unleashed by the bandit army after training could rival any special armored unit in the world.

While Fatty was immersed in mechanical control training and mecha modification, the former Mythical Army’s regiment commander, now idle, became the bandit army’s instructor.

The two special forces groups were driven to insanity by the relentless Bonnie, who had nothing better to do and completely bored.

Some rascals privately exchanged notes, certain that Fatty must have wronged this first beauty of Gazalin, with their few flirtations being merely collateral damage from Fatty’s misdeeds.

This speculation wasn’t far from the truth. Unfortunately, Bonnie overheard, and since then, every bandit army warrior would break down multiple times daily in the training field, tortured to the point they dreamt of leaving the training ground to fight on the front line instead.

Of course, whether they trained or fought wasn’t up to them to decide, so these rascals transferred all their grievances to the Freedom Fighters under their training.

The training received by the Freedom Fighters was beyond torture; it was devastation.

The ones suffering the most seemed to always be these naturally unlucky people.

After ending a day’s training, Bonnie decided to look for Tian Xingjian because she really wanted to ask about the frontal annihilation tactics in the training program and how Fatty came up with it.

Perhaps it was an excuse, as Bonnie unknowingly looked for Fatty every day.

When Bonnie saw Tian Xingjian, he was tinkering with a mecha.

The mecha was a Gazalin [Holy Sword] 15-B, albeit one that was clearly near scrap. Although Bonnie didn’t understand the purpose of this mecha, she knew Fatty’s bizarre mind held many unfathomable things.

She had seen Fatty turn many broken items into treasures before; the [Warrior] modified with Gazalin mecha parts that didn’t fit with Leray Mecha components was a clear example.

”It’s done!” Fatty straightened up, laboriously stood on tiptoe, and manually activated the energy shield of the dilapidated mecha.

Bonnie watched his actions with interest. The [Holy Sword] mecha’s energy shield was evidently just installed, the novelty of the probe contrasting sharply with the mecha’s worn body. Newly installed too was the cockpit part, with its gleaming canopy looking somewhat bizarre.

Fatty was in the mecha testing area outside the base’s mecha maintenance workshop, where work-related noise filled the workshop.

Bonnie walked to Fatty’s side without drawing his focused attention, just hearing him pat the mecha’s cockpit canopy, saying nervously to the mecha: ”Rest assured, absolutely no problem, your main program is in [Logic], anyway.”

Saying this, Fatty jumped into a [Warrior] mecha. With the battle mode activated, the four energy cannons extended with a ”zizz” sound. Before Bonnie could react, four red flashes erupted from the [Warrior]’s cannon muzzles, followed by a torrential downpour of energy bullets directly hitting the shaky [Holy Sword] 15-B mecha.

Despite the protective energy isolation net around the mecha testing area, Bonnie was startled by the intense close-range fire. The energy shield of the [Holy Sword] 15-B flickered rapidly, changing colors swiftly, and just before it exploded, something sprang from the mecha’s cockpit.

Amid the violent explosion, the massive sphere-like object streaked out like an arrow, ejecting nearly a hundred meters. With two mechanical legs opening, it landed stably on the ground.

At that instant, Bonnie saw clearly—it was an ejection cockpit akin to those equipped on fighter jets! She couldn’t help but open her mouth wide; when did mechas start having such features?

Fatty, having destroyed the [Holy Sword], seemed unwilling to stop, happily controlling the fierce firepower to chase and sweep the ejection cockpit, appearing intent on killing to silence.

The cockpit frantically jumped up, scrambling like a hen pursued by a pervert, darting crazily away while evading. From afar, a voice rang out furiously: ”Fatty, stop or I’m flipping out!”

The spinning high-speed energy cannons gradually halted, their heated barrels still emitting a faint white steam, while the ejection cockpit had already fled, disappearing from view.

”Tsk, success!” Fatty excitedly jumped out of the mecha... scratching his crotch.

”Ahem!” Bonnie forced herself not to collapse from Fatty’s vulgar display, coughed to make her presence known, causing Fatty to look over in surprise, face reddening inexplicably, then she asked: ”What is that thing? Who’s inside?”

Fatty stood dumbfounded, glanced down at his crotch, and shyly said: ”This thing is my little brother.”

Bonnie went berserk: ”Fatty, I’m asking about the thing that ran out of the mecha just now.”

”Oh oh.” Fatty grinned, ”That’s an automatic escape pod I designed, which ejects the operator automatically just before the mecha faces a destructive blow.”

The answer was within Bonnie’s speculation, yet she was still amazed by Fatty’s ingenious idea and the escape pod’s high-speed mobility. Looking towards the direction the escape pod had disappeared, she couldn’t help but ask: ”How did it run so fast? Who did you use for such a dangerous test?”

”Haha.” Fatty laughed awkwardly, unsure whether to reveal Little Pi’s existence to Bonnie. Especially considering that damned AI was the instigator and witness of that embarrassing incident. Given Bonnie’s inherently shy nature, knowing someone was there at that time would undoubtedly be disastrous...

”Here, these are the data of my designed mecha automatic inlaid escape pod.” Fatty sidestepped the issue, handing Bonnie an electronic document.

Bonnie took it and froze instantly; this wasn’t an escape pod at all, it was essentially a miniature mecha!
