Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 413: Volume 5, Chapter 30 Fiscella

The colossal [Gods] class Space Carrier ”Poseidon,” under the escort of ten [Unicorn] class Battleships, thirty [Frenzied Shark] class cruisers, and over a hundred high-speed destroyers, was slowly sailing through the silent and deep space.

This carrier, named after the god of the sea, is a Level 1 commissioned ship in the Feiyang Republic’s carrier lineup. Throughout its ten years of service, it had participated in countless defensive battles across the entire universe region and had several power confrontations with the Binart Empire Fleet, earning wide acclaim and distinguished honors among top-tier space carriers.

From a distance, the body of ”Poseidon” resembles a castle floating in space. The cigar-shaped bow is equipped with a formidable rectangular array Energy Cannon. To the rear, the streamlined silver hull rises like the body of a whale. This design, initially intended for atmospheric navigation, actually facilitates the simultaneous release of a large number of Space Fighters from its twenty launch corridors located at the front, rear, and sides.

In terms of fighter release and recovery, Poseidon’s capacity and speed are unparalleled. At the mid-rear of the vessel, there’s a hemispherical bulge, which is the bridge of the carrier. The bridge is semi-concealed, protected by heavy armor and a massive energy shield. Even a direct hit from a battleship’s giant energy main cannon or a torpedo wouldn’t deal a devastating blow.

The fishbone-like protrusions around the bridge and the two wings of the vessel house the carrier’s integrated electronic equipment, playing critical roles in communication, powerful jamming, and counter-jamming. With the carrier’s massive energy supply, its electronic attack capabilities are overwhelmingly fierce.

At the tail end of the vessel, there are two rows totaling sixteen thrusters. Equipped with high-compression ion jet engines, when fully activated, these thrusters can instantly accelerate the vessel to the 3rd Universe Speed, allowing for short-range space jumps within the star system in ten minutes.

This space carrier belongs to the Feiyang Republic 11th Mixed Fleet of the Southeast Second Expeditionary Army and serves as the flagship where Expeditionary Army Commander Admiral Fiscella and his command unit are stationed.

Watching the Little Pyrenees Star System, with its scattered star field like grains of sand, and the planet that had already been occupied by the Expeditionary Army growing smaller, Fiscella’s heart was churning like ocean waves.

At forty years old, in the prime of his life, this is a golden age. For Fiscella, who has successfully become a senior general in the Feiyang Republic Army and ranked among the top fifty military strategists, this is especially true.

The outbreak of this war was a tacitly acknowledged fact among all senior generals of Feiyang, but no one expected the war to break out so quickly, so fiercely, so completely!

The cause was right in this star system where he currently stood—a war between two small nations, a gradually escalating standoff, a quarrel between two major military blocs, finally culminating in a spark that ignited the gunpowder-laden atmosphere of the entire human society.

Humanity, finally because of this war that swept across the entire universe, entered an era of grandeur—a time of smoke, fire, and iron-blooded warriors!

Gazing at this aerospace domain, Fiscella felt a pilgrimage-like sentiment. His knowledge and aspirations finally had a chance to be put into practice. He would lead this expeditionary army to make a renowned name, to achieve eternal glory in this space that heralded the dawn of a great era!

In Feiyang, there is now only one Marshal, that elderly man sitting in a wheelchair, a figure who oversees everything, perceives all, almost like a Military God.

However, Fiscella had no doubt that when the war ended, his name would stand alongside that man’s, carved on the towering monument of honor in Hydefield Square!

Now is the time to establish meritorious achievements!

Here, his only opponent was Hall, the top-ranked military strategist of the Desic Empire, and the Chief of Staff of the Empire’s land and air forces responsible for the Leray Front Army. Defeating him would be equivalent to defeating the entire Desic Empire!

In Fiscella’s view, although the Desic Empire was a traditional military power in this airspace, its strength was exaggerated. It was merely a matter of a monkey playing king when there were no tigers in the mountain. In terms of combat power, the Desic Empire not only could not compare with the two superpowers but also ranked behind the Suss Empire, the Ryan Republic, and the Naga Federation, only slightly stronger than the Jiepeng Empire.

Oddly enough, the Leray Federation, a small to medium-sized country with only three star domains and five star systems, had managed to topple one famous general after another.

First was Russell, the Gazalin Empire’s pillar-like military strategist, who defected to Leray. Putting other factors aside, Russell’s combat plan during the Miloke Battle actually faced severe setbacks. That failure even directly led to Gazalin’s decline, attacked strategically by the recovering Leray Federation. If not for the intervention of Desic, even Little Pyrenees would likely be part of the Leray Federation’s interstellar map by now.

Next was Liebgoet, the second-ranked military strategist of the Naga Federation, who seemed to have lost his youthful vigor. His fate was rather unfortunate; sent by the Naga Federation and the Western Alliance to the internally and externally troubled Gazalin, he had no fully obedient troops under his command.

In the indirect influence of Gazalin’s internal strife, the disorganized Lucerne Front Army under Liebgoet’s command was completely defeated by the systematically advancing Leray Army led by Russell. Such a frustrating campaign, from start to finish, would make anyone feel aggrieved. No wonder Liebgoet immediately returned to the Naga Federation to focus on being the president of the Military Research Institute after the Lucerne Battle, not even taking Stephen’s calls.
