Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 434: 5 volumes 41 Chapters Position of the 19th division

The flustered [Divine] barely blocked the attack again, still shaken, as the fourth [Hunter] delivered a powerful double peak strike. [Divine] raised its arms to protect its head, but amidst the clash of steel, the fifth [Hunter] successfully landed a kick squarely in its crotch.

In the slow-motion playback, the sound of Mecha Fighting was as continuous as a string of firecrackers. At this moment, the five [Hunters] at the forefront of the spherical formation launched four punches and two kicks in high-speed motion, targeting the four [Divine] individually.

Each punch targeted a different opponent, hitting and retreating without pause, the entire process flowing seamlessly, like a pack of wolves in perfect synchronization, taking turns attacking their prey.

Their high-speed movement made the strikes more sudden, more concealing, and more powerful.

This scene played throughout the entire battle.

The fierce attacks were all targeted at the weak spots of the Mecha, which was understandable. However, the actions of those Leray Mechas seemed to carry a teasing tone!

What enraged people most was that [Divine], trapped in the formation, was subjected to every form of lower-body attack possible, before finally being collectively stomped to death.

One [Hunter] that hadn’t stomped it, even made time to come forward and land a finishing kick later on!

After the anger, came humiliation, and after the humiliation, every Feiyang general sat expressionlessly calm. There was no denying that these Leray bastards overreached with their bullying, but ultimately, they won, and it was a victory achieved despite having inferior personnel and Mechas compared to [Divine]’s Special Forces Group.

What’s there left to say?

All the attention was now focused on the live broadcast of the second match.

This one was the most unbelievable. A Level 9 Mecha Warrior, already stepping into the hall of Mecha masters, was beaten to the ground, without the slightest chance to fight back from start to finish. No matter what, this match deserved careful study.

On the screen, the black [Divine] was doing Mecha gymnastics, and the stiff-handed, stiff-footed manipulation left every Feiyang general watching unable to laugh, because they knew what was going to happen next.

Fatty’s voice began to speak: ”...Something’s wrong with the Mecha!”

When this was said, the Mecha’s body was very relaxed, even giving the illusion of preparing to disengage from combat, and Fatty’s voice was really deceptive.

Then, the Mecha suddenly soared into the air, and it was then that Fatty’s voice shouted to begin.

”Despicable!” the generals said in unison.

The black [Divine]’s assault was swift, so swift that everyone could see that Fatty’s hand speed definitely reached fifty actions per second!

Next, everything unfolded just as Newson reported afterwards.

Fatty didn’t put any other Mechas in his eyes at all, as the black [Divine]’s engine screeched piercingly, alarming everyone, as if the engine might imminently be completely destroyed by exceeding its limits!

The distressed Feiyang generals wished they could jump into the screen and yank that Fatty out of his prized Mecha!

And then came the onslaught like a furious storm, based on post-battle data estimates, the black [Divine]’s hand speed consistently remained at fifty-four actions per second. However, this hand speed of fifty-four actions was achieved through extremely precise control.

Look at the accuracy of his strikes on the joints of the golden [Divine], look at the unbelievable punching and persistent close-quarter pressure from start to finish, look at his seemingly slow but actually fast movements, it was simply impossible to accurately judge his hand speed! Saying fifty actions per second was possible, fifty-five was possible, even saying sixty or sixty-five was possible!

At the very least, everyone present knew that Newson had previously sparred with some Level 10 Mecha warriors with actions as high as sixty-three and even sixty-five per second, but never had he lost so thoroughly!

After the live playback ended, the meeting room was engulfed in silence.

”Everyone has already seen these two matches.” Douglas’s voice was calm, as if there was no anger left after these few hours.

”These two duels have left me very embarrassed.” Douglas smiled slightly, stood up, and looked at the frozen image of Fatty on the screen with his hands behind his back: ”We ultimately underestimated him. There are always people in this world who can achieve victory through extraordinary means. This hero of the Leray Federation may just be one of them!”

He turned his head, looked at the generals with faces full of astonishment, and waved his hand: ”Saying this is not to boost the confidence of others or undercut our own spirit. Letting everyone watch these two live matches is not just about finding our flaws while observing others’ strengths.”

After lowering his head in silence for a moment, Douglas slowly said, ”After this incident, I think we are no longer suitable to jointly execute our attack plan with this Leray unit.”

The division commanders exchanged glances, and the commander of the Second Armored Division, Moody, couldn’t help but ask, ”Do you mean to exclude this unit from the plan?”

Douglas quietly looked at Moody, and suddenly burst into a laugh, saying: ”When a unit has demonstrated its good combat power, would I exclude it when manpower is lacking?” He shook his right index finger and continued: ”No, no, even if we suffered humiliation because of this, I would not do so. You must know, my identity is foremost as a professional soldier!”

The commanders visibly breathed a sigh of relief. Though annoyed by the conflict, they couldn’t help but hold a bit of admiration for this Leray Armored Division.

”This time, due to the tight defense mission in Minsk, and the Desic Empire’s execution of its fifth plan to reinforce the Little Pyrenees, our attack is indeed tight in terms of manpower!” Douglas sat down, looked around at the Feiyang generals, and continued: ”However, the plan must be implemented. This is our chance to quickly open the situation and secure a foothold in the Little Pyrenees thoroughly. Therefore, my consideration is to let the Nineteen Division replace the Second Armored Division’s defense mission, and we concentrate our forces for a breakthrough!”

The division commanders looked at each other and nodded. Douglas’s idea indeed had a great impact on the current manpower-tight situation. The Second Armored Division, originally placed in the northwest of Tanville to guard against Reinhardt moving north to Prisk, was really a significant combat force.

And now leaving the rear defense in the hands of this Leray Armored Division commanded by an unpredictable Fatty, say no more, just relying on the cunning cruelty that permeates every level of Leray people from top to bottom, they felt reassured. Moreover, in strategic simulation, based on comprehensive analysis of various situations, Reinhardt indeed had no reason to dispatch troops before the Expeditionary Army became entangled with Stephens’ forces.

And would the Expeditionary Army fall into trouble? The probability was very low. As long as there was a breakthrough focus within ten days, even if Reinhardt did dispatch troops, they wouldn’t gain any advantage. And Leray people, as long as they held out for two days, could rest assured that reinforcements from the already settled frontline could return, giving Reinhardt a good fight.

”I agree!”

”I agree!”

The Feiyang generals quickly made their judgments and agreed one after another.

Douglas nodded, solemnly saying: ”This plan has been repeatedly scrutinized because we cannot afford to fail. The Southeast Second Expeditionary Army has already had its retreat route cut off by the Suss Empire, and resupply from the homeland cannot reach Bermuda, relying solely on the Saleria Federation for logistics. But...” his tone turned very cold: ”The domestic situation of the Saleria Federation is unstable, and this country has always had Pro-Western Alliance factions!”

”Preparedness ensures safety, from any angle, it’s extremely important for Feiyang to keep Desic tied down in the Little Pyrenees. As long as the Leray route remains open, the Western Alliance can’t complete the encirclement of Feiyang and Chuckna, allowing us to gain more time for Marshal Hastings’ universe-wide strategic deployment.”

”The intelligence obtained by the Military Intelligence Bureau some time ago has been confirmed, Stephen is indeed in contact with the Binart Empire.” Douglas sat up straight, with an eagle-like gaze sweeping the room: ”We absolutely cannot allow him to finally merge with the Western Alliance!”

”Hmph, the Leray people made the mistake of releasing the tiger back into the mountain, and now we have to clean up the mess!” the commander of the 5th Armored Division snorted coldly: ”These guys are still ungrateful! Someday, they’ll get what’s coming to them!”

”You can’t say that.” The commander of the Second Armored Division, Moody, shook his head with a smile: ”I’m somewhat familiar with the situation at the time, releasing Lucerne’s troops to Gazalin was also reported to the Fei Alliance Military Joint Coordination Department. If it hadn’t been for balancing the forces of Reinhardt and Stephen at the time, the whole of Mezrich would’ve become their territory, leaving us no foothold, and the Newton Star System would’ve probably been breached long ago.”

”The winds of change are tumultuous; the situation shifts with time. Russell’s decision wasn’t wrong.” Douglas said firmly: ”In three days, the fleet will execute the ’Skyfire’ plan at midnight on the sixteenth in Tanville. When that time comes, this place will witness the power of Feiyang.”
