Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 425: Revised: Volume 5 Chapter 34 Conflict_2

”Simulated.” Fatty’s simple face displayed a look of indifference, and he continued, ”The problem is, with so many troops invested, what if something goes wrong on the Reinhardt and Desic fronts?”

Every word from Fatty struck Douglas deeply: ”Moreover, these two routes, although they can swiftly realize our strategic plan and quickly divide the dispersed main forces of the enemy in the rear, will face the peak of enemy defenses organized from regrouped frontline defectors by the time we reach places like Jiacuo and Fulan Fortress. Our army would have to assault strongly, and the cost would be significant!”

Facing Fatty’s inquiry, Douglas remained silent, still reeling from the shock.

”Simulated, that’s impossible!”

Douglas couldn’t believe that any department within the Combat Department could compare to the group of senior combat staff of the Southeast Expeditionary Army. This was a plan that he and all members of the Expeditionary Army’s Combat Department had worked on tirelessly for days to finalize!

Russell! A flash of insight struck Douglas’s mind, allowing him to swiftly confirm his judgment! This Fatty was from Leray, backed by Leray’s Combat Department. This simulation was evidently the collective wisdom of the Leray Staff Department!

Understanding this, Douglas’s mood quickly calmed down, as if he had just seen through a simple magic trick. Fatty’s words were somewhat true—the simulation was a fact, but he never claimed he conducted it himself.

Choosing his words carefully, Douglas said calmly, ”War always demands sacrifices. We just need to think that once the final offensive breaks through at Fulan Fortress, there would be no force capable of stopping us. We will find that such a sacrifice is worth it! And we, the Feiyang Army, will face these difficulties together with everyone!”

”Hypocrite!” Fatty cursed inwardly: ”Your units are all equipped with Ninth Generation Mecha, how can the casualties compare with these soldiers using Sixth and Seventh Generation Mecha?” However, these thoughts could only stay in his mind. After all, they were allies, and the powerful strength of their counterparts was indeed their own merit, not something to blame on others.

”As for the Reinhardt Group, we can deduce that they will remain silent and watch us while we launch our offensive. This is a chance we can exploit,” Douglas’s analysis was logical, ”Even if they do decide to attack, it would be after we completely break through Stephen Group’s final defense line. However, I seriously doubt their capability to mount an attack in such a short time. You must understand...”

With a confident smile, Douglas continued, ”Our campaign is only ten days long! Additionally, besides the eight Infantry Divisions and one Armored Division we’ve left behind, we have four powerful fleets in space! In Minsk, there are fourteen elite Armored Divisions and two Ryan Fleets, with the Knevel Republic ready to strike at the interstellar jump point. And most importantly, remember, my forces and I come from the Feiyang Republic!”

Nearly everyone was convinced by Douglas’s words. Yes, aside from its logical precision and brilliance, just the name of their six Armored Divisions could intimidate many. In recent years, who other than Binart would dare face the Feiyang Republic head-on?

Moreover, they wouldn’t joke around with six Armored Divisions while they, like everyone else, had to move to the front lines to fight, not merely talk. With twelve Armored Divisions in the war zone, Feiyang held more than half, taking up six of the ten divisions advancing deeply. What reason remained to oppose such a plan?

As everyone nodded in agreement, a discordant voice arose: ”Even if they were sent from heaven, ensuring such an operation while preventing possible defensive issues requires at least four additional Armored Divisions!”

The speaker, of course, was the irrepressible Fatty Tian, shaking his head while the rest of the room nodded.

Who do you think you are? Douglas thought with a sarcastic smile: ”This plan has already passed review by the Expeditionary Army Command. Currently, we need to maintain sufficient strength in Minsk to avoid being cut off by the Desic people. So, General Tian, you may hold your opinion.”

The underlying meaning was clear—there was no room for discussion.

Suddenly, a logistics Lieutenant Colonel appeared at the door, pacing anxiously. With Gordon’s permission, he quickly entered the meeting room, sweating profusely and announced, ”General, it’s...a fight has broken out!”

Gordon frowned: ”Who’s fighting?”

”The bandit Nineteen Division and Feiyang’s Armored Division warriors...they’re fighting!”

Everyone’s faces showed a mix of surprise and terror, as if they had already envisioned the bloody scenes.

Douglas remained calm and said to Fatty, ”I apologize, General Tian. My subordinates are all proud and tough warriors, battle-hardened and with fiery tempers. I apologize on their behalf.”

Although an apology, his face carried a hint of confident arrogance, as if Fatty’s men had already been decimated.

Not only was Fatty stunned, but everyone in the room couldn’t believe their ears. Some division commanders shuddered involuntarily; the bandit army suffering losses—what a joke!

Sure enough, the major muttered, stammering, ”The Nineteen Division people were... no big deal, the injured are all from Feiyang...”

While the major was hesitantly explaining, Fatty had already grasped Douglas’s hand cheerfully, saying loudly, ”No problem, no problem, we are allies, after all! Any misunderstanding can be resolved. Those bastards below love to fight, let them fight, they need to learn through suffering!”

Feigning anger, he said, ”General Douglas, don’t take offense. Just think of it as your warriors teaching those ignorant fools a lesson. No need for apologies, I should thank you instead!”

Everyone watched this man, dumbfounded, as he spoke non-stop, utterly ignoring the major’s words.

The assembled generals and officers were driven to madness. To reach such heights of shamelessness, this Fatty was not human! Anyone hearing such words would surely be infuriated. His righteous words shedding all responsibility—what a realm of skill!

Seeing Douglas’s face turning an iron-gray hue, Gordon quickly said, ”It’s just a misunderstanding. Let’s go take a look. Fights in the military are minor issues.”
