Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 412: Volume 5, Chapter 29, Two Weeks_2

The bustling hall was filled with people coming and going, everyone working nervously.

On the north side of the hall was a whole row of communication devices, where communication officers were issuing orders to the front line or receiving battle reports, occasionally getting up to hand over the reports and communication records to the supervising officers beside them.

In the center of the hall, some staff from the combat department were conducting simulations on a computer virtual platform. Others were closely observing the combat dynamics between the enemy and allies on electronic maps, making adjustment recommendations for the execution of battle plans.

Beside these staff was the SkyNet information console, a huge control panel where countless electronic devices were busily running, collecting groups of data, images, and intel together, serving as a crucial basis for decision-making.

This was the biggest gift Fatty brought here for Gordon: a second-level SkyNet permission in Gazalin beyond anyone else! This permission was higher than the stopped Admiral consent Gordon had before!

The permission made Gordon ecstatic, and Leray people immediately became VIPs to the Independent Army. The power of this authorization was greater than ten Armored Divisions! Even if Gazalin’s SkyNet could recover only 60%, it was enough for the Independent Army! They had suffered enough without SkyNet!

Tian Xingjian returned salutes to the officers along the way, passed through a corridor, and arrived at the main command office. Upon his arrival, a Major secretary had already gotten up to open the door to Gordon’s room for him.

Once inside, Fatty was startled; the usually empty office was packed with the advanced commanders of the Independent Army. Besides Gordon and Hailig, every division commander of the six Armored Divisions and a dozen mechanical-flower infantry divisions were present, even the otherwise rare command officers of the 6th Fleet and local fleet of Little Pyrenees were seated formally among them.

Seeing Fatty enter, all eyes gathered on him. ”General Tian...” Gordon stood up, smiling: ”Come, sit here.”

”What is this...” Fatty walked confusedly toward Gordon.

”Oh.” Gordon took out a document, handed it to Fatty, and explained: ”It’s like this, the reason for asking you here today is because we’ve received a call from the Southeast Second Joint Expeditionary Army.”

”A call?” Excluding the possibility of the tense situation requiring the bandit army at the forefront, Fatty relaxed, comfortably sinking into the sofa, letting out a soft groan, sprawling, casually looking at the document, and asking: ”What did they say?”

”They hope we can launch a full-scale attack on Stephen and completely defeat him.” Gordon said.

”Isn’t that what we’re doing?” Fatty continued to read the document.

”What they mean is... within two weeks!”

”What?” Fatty jumped up from the sofa like his butt was on fire: ”Two weeks? Are they crazy?”

A month ago, one of the four Fei Alliance small countries west of Gazalin, Knevel, which directly bordered Little Pyrenees, declared war on the Desic Empire and announced to send troops to Little Pyrenees.

Actually, a few hours before the declaration of war, the expeditionary fleet had already breached the space jump point of Little Pyrenees.

After breaching the jump point, the alliance quickly steadied their feet on the sparsely populated but closest jump-point immigration planet Minsk, setting up four expeditionary mixed fleets at the passage exit.

Their presence directly threatened the Desic Empire’s forward base Biekelan, forcing the Desic Fleet to retreat from the Galileo Star System, reducing half the pressure for the Leray Federation Fleet stationed at the Newton Star System.

Two weeks ago, Fiscella, commander of the Southeast Second Expeditionary Army, contacted Fatty.

As Leray Federation was a member country of the Fei Alliance, they needed to comply with the Alliance’s unified command coordination in the war. Therefore, Fatty’s role wasn’t just the division commander of the Leray Federation but also subject to dispatch from the Alliance forces’ Supreme Command Department.

Fatty originally wanted to climb the ladder quickly and leave Mezrich; upon hearing that the expeditionary army used Knevel’s main star as a forward base, he wanted to take the bandit army there to enjoy life. Thus, after introducing Gordon to Fiscella, he shamelessly filed a report requesting rest at Knevel.

However, the expeditionary army dashed his fantasies. Under the joint authorization of Leray Federation and the expeditionary army, Fatty was appointed as the division commander of the united 19th Armored Division of the expeditionary army and also commander of the Mezrich Battlefield, naturally including his two Armored Groups, Gordon’s Independent Army, and the two Armored Groups of the Freedom Front gathered, along with three infantry divisions.

Continuing to stay in this dangerous place made Fatty very unhappy already. Unexpectedly, his bandit army’s formation dropped from that of an army to that of a division, the flag was less mighty, and he had a needless burden as battlefield commander, leaving him depressed for several days.

Though the situation had changed, allowing the expeditionary army to send some supplies through the fleet, the resistance movement by the Freedom Front had just begun, and the Independent Army was forced between two major forces. At such a time, they were actually asked to completely eliminate Stephen within two weeks; wasn’t this killing Fatty!

”Impossible!” Fatty decisively stated: ”What are they thinking? Saying they’ll destroy who they’ll destroy, why don’t they wipe out the Desic people at Biekelan! We’re the ones at a disadvantage now!”

Gordon ignored Fatty. He pointed at the electronic document in Fatty’s hand, signaling him to read it seriously, saying: ”In two weeks, the united army of the Binart Empire and Naga Federation will arrive at the Desic Empire. At that time, whether they’ll be stationed in the Athena Star System to deal with Puditok and Tatania or enter Little Pyrenees to deal with us, nobody can tell. But...”

Gordon looked seriously at Fatty, who had a face of horror, and continued: ”If we don’t seize the opportunity when Reinhardt hopes for a mutual loss between us and Stephen and defeat Stephen, then we’ll never have the chance to stay in Mezrich again!”

”Dammit, no chance is no chance, what’s so good about staying in Mezrich!” Fatty cursed inwardly, but he understood that regardless of the Freedom Front or the Independent Army, Mezrich was something they couldn’t afford to lose. After a long silence, Fatty looked around at the gathered generals, finally settling his gaze on Gordon: ”Are you saying this battle must be fought?”

Everyone silently nodded.

”As of now, Stephen still has nearly twenty Armored Divisions and over a hundred infantry divisions. How do you expect us to fight them?” Fatty said blandly: ”If we have to fight, we can only aim for decapitation! Expecting to physically eliminate these forces within two weeks, even a deity couldn’t do it!”

”Tell Fiscella, unless there is absolute air superiority and at least five elite Armored Divisions of ground troops as reinforcements, this task cannot be done!”

The room full of advanced generals was dumbfounded; before Fatty’s arrival, they were still discussing feasibility with no plan, not expecting for Fatty to prepare to get to work with just a few words.

Fatty was gnashing his teeth beside, completely unaware that he had already entrapped himself.

The words below won’t be charged.

After a long silence, I wish to say a few words here.

I am proud, of my nation, of my country, and of every Chinese person who voiced themselves to the world during this torch relay.

Looking at the five-star red flag unfurling in foreign lands, we tell the world we are no longer the China of a hundred years ago; we rely on our diligence and wisdom, standing with dignity at the summit of world nations, and no clown can change this fact.

No one can halt the Olympics in China----Go China!

Fatty said: ”We should be glad, those clowns can’t even touch a blade of grass on the plateau, they will never change the facts. We are united, we progress, we live, driving them mad!”

Very well, drive them mad. Love China, love life.
