Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 409: After the modification: Volume 5, Chapter 28 Miniature Mecha

The content of the letter was simple: cease all hostile actions between both parties.

Stephen immediately agreed without any hesitation.

For these two contenders for the throne of the Morton family, the greatest threat now was no longer each other, but the gradually growing resistance movement.

If Reinhardt and Stephen were fighting for power, then their conflict with the Independent Army hoisting the flag of democracy, and the resistance movement spreading like wildfire, was a class-based sharp confrontation.

This was a direct threat to the entire ruling class of the superior race. If not promptly suppressed, the inherent order of Gazalin would completely collapse. The Vibo people would be stripped of the privileges enjoyed by the rulers, and nobles would become commoners, or even be suppressed in this struggle.

This outcome was absolutely unacceptable to either Reinhardt or Stephen.

Their power struggle was built on the existing ruling system of Gazalin. If the ruling class were overthrown, they would lose the foundation to become the highest rulers.

Both forces tacitly began to gradually withdraw from combat, turning their guns to suppress the uprisings in their respective territories, using their actual control lines as the standard. They also intensified attacks on the areas under the Independent Army’s control north of Tanville.

Overall, the situation was such that the Desic Empire was in a tug-of-war with the Puditok and Tatania alliance in its home Athena Star System, while in Little Pyrenees, it faced the threat from Knevel, along with the Fei and Southeast Second Expeditionary Army of Ley. The fires were ignited on all fronts, making it impossible to achieve a breakthrough in the Newton Star System.

Meanwhile, Reinhardt and Stephen each called for a ceasefire to turn their attention to suppressing the nationwide uprisings.

Each had their own hidden agenda: one was waiting for the Desic Empire to free up its hands, while the other was hastily strengthening ties with the Naga Federation and the Binart Empire, aiming to replace the rival as the new spokesperson for the Western Alliance.

The situation in this airspace reached a delicate balance at this moment, with no one knowing when a breakthrough decisive enough to determine victory would come.

As the situation in the Southeast reached equilibrium, significant changes occurred in the northeastern part of the interstellar map of the human world.

First, the Suss Empire, leveraging its strong military power, proactively launched an attack on the Chuckna Republic. Eighteen large mixed fleets went all out, forcibly breaking through the space jump point in the Volga Star System of the Chuckna Federation at the cost of six fleets being completely annihilated.

Subsequently, forty-two armored divisions and one hundred sixty fully mechanized infantry divisions from Suss made a lightning landing on the immigrant planet Reston, carried by overwhelming numbers of giant transport ships. They suddenly cut off the eastern jump channel from the Chuckna Republic to the Saleria Federation.

As a result, the first expeditionary army of the Fei and Chuck, which reached the Leray Bermuda Star System, lost their home support and could only rely on the Saleria Federation for supplies. The Saleria Federation, initially positioned between the Chuckna and Leray Federations, now faced direct military threats from both the Suss and Jiepeng Empires.

The sudden attack by Suss sounded the offensive horn for the Western Alliance. At the same time, numerous Western Alliance member states launched attacks from all directions, swiftly occupying star systems with critical space jump points, tearing the interstellar channels of human society into pieces!

The democratic countries, always a step behind in military actions, only reacted after the enemy completed their strategic occupation. At this point, the hesitation before the war and the theory of perpetual peace started revealing their severe consequences: inadequate military forces, insufficient weapons, lack of ships, inadequate fortifications, and universal shortages in all materials for the war. They found themselves powerless against the attacks of the Western Alliance, compelled to perform strategic retreats repeatedly.

On their own territory, where could they retreat to?

The successive falls delivered a harsh blow to the inefficient democratic governments. They issued nationwide mobilization orders, passed military resolutions, and defense budgets one after another, dispatching their forces with all their might, hoping to at least maintain the current defensive strength.

Within just one month, the Western Alliance, meticulously planning the interstellar war strategy, converted its ample preparations and superior strategic coordination into a strategic advantage through constant offensives. The human world was engulfed in smoke and flames, with the war situation becoming increasingly complex and unpredictable.

Contrary to the large-scale offensive of the Western Alliance, the Feiyang Republic, aside from escalating its standoff with the Binart Empire in the Karsdon Star River, only dispatched two united expeditionary armies for the Southeast war situation, with no other actions taken, making everything abnormally quiet.

The life of the bandit army was also very quiet. Due to the prior agreement, despite the heated battles in the Tanville West District, Gordon, frequently mobilizing his troops, never sent the bandit army to the front line even once.

This troop had already become the core foundation of the Independent Army. Aside from its Fei background, the most crucial factor was that only with the existence of this troop could the resistance movement led by the Freedom Front gather under the banner of the Independent Army. Without the coordination by Fatty, Russell’s disciple, Gordon and Oberto would not trust each other at all.

To develop cohesive combat power still required time.

Therefore, the primary work of the bandit soldiers was to familiarize themselves with newly-modified Mecha, and to train and integrate the Freedom Front.
