Chapter 439: Volume 5 Chapter 45 Take Action

The Southeast Expeditionary Army’s eastern route, consisting of six armored divisions and twelve infantry divisions, has fully crossed Chita, supported by a massive fleet of fighter jets, advancing with unstoppable momentum.

In the wake of the iron tide, all that remains is a wasteland of destruction.

Rubble and broken walls, burning mecha wreckage, scattered soldier corpses, creating a series of shocking scenes.

The four Feiyang armored divisions on the eastern route have demonstrated their terrifying combat power and destructive force. In front of these tidal waves of Ninth Generation Mecha, Stephen Group’s armored troops virtually crumbled at the first touch.

The Gazalin army never lacks in courage for battle. However, such courage is slowly drained away when faced with one destroyed mecha after another, which barely posed any threat to the enemy.

Seeing the Double-headed Griffin flag waving on the Feiyang armored divisions, every soldier opposed to them feels a kind of hysterical despair! That cold, mechanical flag waving in the wind itself is a terrifying legend!

The army it represents is victorious in battles throughout the universe.

When this flag arrives with the fleet and armored divisions in a grand manner, all noise, all disputes, all resistance evaporate into thin smoke under this chilling force.

It can be said that this military flag represents the Feiyang more than the Tri-color Republican Flag.

Initially encountering the Feiyang Armored Division, every officer roared, and every soldier, ready to let the Feiyang witness the century-long warring Gazalin army they possessed!

They believed legends are but legends, Gazalin also has its own legends!

However, when warriors saw their own mecha being picked off by the Feiyang as if using an automatic rifle to kill chickens, when seeing multiple mecha that painstakingly surrounded the enemy being individually struck down by one [Heaven’s Punishment] with ease, when witnessing their defenses completely collapse within moments, all courage vanished.

In the battlefield, the Feiyang resemble war machines more than the Gazalin people.

They have efficient coordination, excellent grassroots command, rich combat experience, outstanding soldier quality, and advanced mecha and weapons. How could such an army be countered by the small nation of Gazalin?

Moreover, these Gazalin soldiers in civil war have lost their faith even if they still have courage. They are no longer a complete country; they are not resisting invasion. They are merely engaged in civil war, killing each other!

The military oath has long become mere words, protecting the homeland, the country is no longer a country, where is the home?

Line after line of defense is breached. Stephen’s troops have no choice but to retreat swiftly. Soldiers sent to establish blocking positions never returned.

The Southeast Expeditionary Army, like an impregnable monster, biting and chasing, crushing every obstruction in its path.

The eastern battlefield is like this, and so is the northeastern battlefield!

Fadik, hollow and defenseless, turned to ruins in one day, while four armored divisions advancing along the No.6 Resource Highway progressed even faster than in the east! A battalion from Stephen’s elite 103 Armored Division, occupying a defensive position, was completely obliterated in less than two hours after establishing it!

Bassenk... Louisburg... Tawa... One town after another was conquered, many places with weak air defense capabilities turned to charred earth from the attacks unleashed by Space Carriers hovering overhead before the Southeast Expeditionary Army even arrived.

This is typical asymmetric warfare.

The side with absolutely inferior comprehensive combat strength, deprived of air superiority, lacking a command and coordination system, with communication and radar jammed, akin to being blinded and deafened, seems to have no choice but to retreat.

Douglas watched as the electronic map showed Feiyang’s red wave rapidly engulfing the blue areas, looking at sets of enemy annihilation data on the central information station, brimming with confidence. Stephen Group’s defensive collapse was faster than he imagined.

The defenses torn apart, resistance positions destroyed, be they temporary or permanent, unable to withstand the towering, giant wave-like assault.

Soldiers losing formation, lacking supplies, without command, running in all directions, and if caught by the advancing Feiyang troops, they could only choose between death and surrender.

The disintegration of Stephen Group’s fan-shaped control area, whether eastern or northeastern defenses, has become inevitable. What can stop the simultaneous march of Feiyang’s hundred-thousand-strong army?

Douglas had no doubt; he would achieve an unprecedented victory at Mezrich, from planning to execution, all completed personally by him! Mezrich would become a significant highlight in his military achievements! The Southeast Expeditionary Army’s valor would thoroughly stimulate the hesitant United Four Nations, ultimately drawing them into this war.

The only drawback was that the opponent this time was too weak. This wasn’t a battle of equal forces; such victories are usually overlooked.

”Accelerate the advance! I want to see Jiacuo City within twelve hours, and within forty-eight hours, I want to leap over this fortress-like city! Crush all resistance!” Douglas said.

Since the enemy lacks the strength to fight, then let efficiency and results prove everything!

The Expeditionary Army accelerated once again, with two lagging Armored Divisions advancing at full speed, overtaking their brother units involved in a wide-ranging flanking sweep, and charging directly towards Jiacuo.

In space, two Desic mixed fleets were sailing, flanked by ten giant transport ships.

”Commander, the fleet has reached the space jump point of the Little Pyrenees Star System. Jump preparations are complete, requesting permission to jump.”

”Permission granted.”

Successive flashes of white light passed through, and the boundless starry sky returned to tranquility once more.

In the star system, that scarred planet continued to orbit its constant star, spinning alone.

Reinhardt carefully fastened the last button on his collar, adjusting his attire in the mirror: ”Is everything ready?”

”Yes, General!” replied Boge, the First Battalion Commander of the Mythical Army, in a respectful tone.

Reinhardt turned around and strode towards the door, with Boge closely following by his side, but unexpectedly, Reinhardt stopped suddenly as he caught something in the corner of his eye, causing Boge to almost bump into him.

Reinhardt quietly observed the electronic map on the virtual screen. Below the map was a photo of him and Bonnie, taken just after his promotion to Admiral. In the photo, he was wearing the Mythical Army admiral’s uniform, looking beaming, while Bonnie stood beside him, smiling. Her flawless face bore a hint of faint melancholy.

”Snap!” Reinhardt placed the photo frame face down on the table, gazing intently at the electronic map. His eyes gradually grew fervent. Turning around decisively, he strode out.

He was heading to the southwest, where his troops were concentrated.

Not everyone was elated by the unstoppable offensive of the Southeast Army.

The lingering doubts in his mind had caused Fatty to lock himself in his room, performing simulations for a full sixteen hours.

Not in his position, not responsible for his governance, as a division commander of an Armored Division in the Mezrich Battlefield, Fatty only needed to manage his defensive zone. The overall strategy was to be considered by Fiscella, or higher up in the Fei Alliance Joint Command.

However, Fatty never liked being a pawn in someone else’s hand. Of the thousands of war cases Russell taught him, what he remembered most vividly was not the glorious victories or painful defeats, but those sacrificed pawns.

Sacrificing unrelated people was one thing, but sacrificing Fatty, well, we all need to have a proper discussion about that.

In fact, in Fatty’s simulations, those units sacrificed in war cases all had opportunities to fulfill their missions while preserving themselves. Often, it was an order to hold to the death that buried entire battalions or divisions of warriors. For Fatty, such sacrifice held the least value.

Everyone knew this, but in the fog of war, who could see clearly? Even those at the top might not be aware of the consequences of each of their orders. Planning depends on people, success or failure on providence, and the same applies to war. Too many coincidences can change the course of war.

Fatty didn’t want to die without knowing why, so he forced himself to step outside the Mezrich and simulate this confrontation from a higher perspective. He believed Stephen’s defeat was real because he knew the strength of the six Armored Divisions of Feiyang. However, he didn’t believe the Western Alliance and Reinhardt would react so slowly, or that they would remain indifferent to the threat of the Fei Alliance seizing half of the Little Pyrenees and threatening Biekelan.

Before identifying the Western Alliance’s hidden deployments, he needed to uncover Fiscella’s true strategic intent. Douglas believed it, but that didn’t mean he believed this attack was simply aimed at Stephen!

”Beep!” An alert ended Fatty’s ongoing simulations, and the red light indicated the document was an emergency battle report sent by Bonnie.

Fatty opened the report, and an indication map of the battlefield showed a broad green arrow harshly pinning into the flank of Long Line Ridge from the southwest, while the report indicated that Reinhardt’s force against Long Line Ridge had suddenly increased their offensive by 200%!
