Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 403: After modification: Volume 5 Chapter 25 Revitalized_2

Nikita Mihailovich Safen, Deputy Commander of the National Defense War Supreme Command, eldest grandson of Admiral Mihailovich, squadron leader of the third flying squadron of the Second Mixed Fleet [Angry Whale] class space carrier ”Independent,” ace pilot, April 17, 2062, Galileo Space Sniper Battle, killed in action.

......

These names were secretly tallied. On the casualty list displayed on the electronic bulletin board, there are no special introductions; they are just names, drowned in the pages of the scrolling list, unknown. No one knows who their relatives are. People only know that their relatives will receive the same casualty notification as all the other fallen warriors’ families.

And such events happen every day, on every planet, in every city, in every corner of the Leray Federation, in every household wailing in grief!

Leray people gave up indulgence, gave up luxury. They invested every bit of material they obtained into this national defense war. They worked overtime, biting their teeth and persevering. All factories were producing war-related products.

Shipyards that originally produced luxury cruises were manufacturing warships. Factories that originally produced branded clothing were producing uniforms. Workshops that originally manufactured luxury flying cars were making military trucks. Factories that originally made passenger planes were processing fighter jet parts.

Universal conscription, national mobilization, the Leray people were not frightened by disaster, nor did they retreat in the face of artillery fire. They burst out with unimaginable strength, facing all hardships head-on. After wiping away their tears, they went to work, lived their ordinary lives after working overtime, took walks, chatted, watched movies, and fell in love.

The streets were crowded and bustling. The war seemed not to have changed their lives. They lived like this because they clung to a belief that the Leray people would never be conquered!

The Leray Federation has many heroes. They fought fiercely on the battlefields amidst the bombings, they fought in the vastness of space. They emerged in batches, then disappeared in batches, and then emerged again.

And representing these heroes is that tattered [Magic Beast] Mecha. On the day war was declared, this [Magic Beast] had already become a symbol of heroism, also a symbol of every Leray Warrior.

Nearing half a year has passed, the battles have become more arduous and intense. On the posters all over the streets, that chubby face is still smiling naively, adorably innocent. People chatted under the posters, young people signed up for the military under the posters. This poster had deeply integrated with this war, becoming an imprint of this era.

And today, the Leray people welcomed a miracle.

The tattered [Magic Beast] returned again, not even a cliff dive could kill this chubby Fatty!

On the network connecting the entire human society, the few minutes of real combat footage ignited Leray again. Everyone was talking about this battle, people were excited about the birth of a Leray miracle, as if this [Magic Beast] symbolized Leray’s fate; it couldn’t die, and Leray wouldn’t fall!

Although Leray was completely blocked by the Desic Empire from the channel to Gazalin, and the Military Department couldn’t establish direct contact with Gazalin’s military for the time being, the world still had the network. Even though this network couldn’t transmit secret military messages, it was extremely convenient for acquiring ordinary information.

”Our hero is back!” The President of the Leray Federation appeared before the public for the first time. These few months had significantly thinned him, and he had aged much. Originally looking just over forty, his temples had already grown slightly gray.

This was partly due to long-term sleepless nights and hard work, and also because of the pain of losing his son.

But today, President Hamilton appeared especially spirited. Under his leadership, the Leray Federation had overcome one difficulty after another, and the two major empires of the Western Alliance couldn’t break through Leray’s defenses. Fatty’s appearance at this moment was of immense significance.

”This is the victory of the Leray Federation, the victory of the national defense war, and the victory of every Leray person. What could be more joyous than the return of a hero?”

”Many heroes have sacrificed in the war, but we want to tell those invaders that we still have many heroes! In the past, present, and future, every Leray person stands tall!”

”Long live the free Leray Federation!”

At this moment, the entire Leray united into an indestructible fist, with the people’s hearts tightly clasped together.

”Aren’t the Desic people very powerful? Thousands of Ninth Generation Mechas couldn’t take down one of our Second-generation Mechas.”

”Haha, what old military powerhouse? Leray people can still beat them!”

”Come on! For Fatty!”

”Hey! For Fatty!”

”Let’s look forward to him bringing more miracles!”

”Cheers!”

In the western suburbs of Hydefield City, the capital of the Feiyang Republic, stands a medium-sized intelligent city-within-a-city with a total construction area of more than 6 million square meters. From the outside, this city looks no different from other city-within-a-cities, but only those who truly understand this city know that Glory City is the most fortified city-within-a-city in the world!

Glory City is a circular building with a towering dome that reaches the sky, forming a giant hemispherical dome. The entire city resembles a bullet standing upright on the ground. Compared to ordinary city-within-a-cities, this appearance is not outstanding. Many city-within-a-cities are more beautiful and have a more modern feel, but if anyone knew the cost of building this city, they would be utterly shocked.
