Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 411: Volume 5, Chapter 29, 2 Weeks

Since the invention of super-light alloys and micro engines, countless mechanical engineers have attempted to transplant mecha onto the human body in the form of armor, to replace the current combat methods of fully mechanized infantry, enhancing their survival and mobility. This effort has continued to this day.

Due to various constraints such as cost, resources, and operational skills, the current ratio of armored divisions to fully mechanized infantry divisions in each country is 1:15. Adding in other logistical units, this ratio reaches 1:20.

Armored divisions, rather than being the main combat force on the battlefield, serve more as a deterrent. As the most elite ground combat force, armored divisions play a key role in penetrating and covering, while the majority of front-line offensive and defensive operations are completed by mechanized infantry with support from self-propelled artillery, missiles, and fighter jets.

Aside from the mecha battalions equipped within a few infantry divisions, other mechas are concentrated due to the characteristics of modern warfare. This ensures sufficient anti-air capabilities and breakthrough power for the mechas.

The opponent of a mecha can only be another mecha. No commander would let infantry engage in combat with mechas, as that would be like trying to stop a chariot with a mantis. However, if miniaturized mechas could be widely distributed to infantry, it could create an absolute numerical advantage to counteract contemporary combat mechas.

However, mecha miniaturization has always been a world-class problem.

Miniaturization significantly weakens mecha performance. The performance degradation is mainly reflected in the attack power, as it is difficult to equip a standard energy cannon, making it hard to inflict effective damage on regular mechas. In terms of defense, due to limited energy reserve space, miniaturized mechas cannot equip standard energy shields, and their armor is very weak.

Not only are many miniaturization problems unsolved, but the cost remains high. Smaller does not necessarily mean cheaper.

Bonnie, looking more and more astonished at the control parameters for power, sensitivity, and maneuverability displayed on the electronic file, realized that the mini-mecha designed by Fatty not only boasts performance comparable to a 6th Generation Mecha but is also equipped with an energy machine gun and an energy cannon. The endurance and defense metrics were particularly impressive.

He completely abandoned the armor-based miniaturization thought process using the human body as a framework and designed an entirely new alloy mecha support structure.

The mecha not only possesses a complete set of armor and an energy shield defense system but its agility is substantially increased due to its small size. Especially its maneuverability - considering how the guy just escaped, the flexibility of this mini-mecha is evident.

Although not fully miniaturized, it already surpassed the previous limitations in terms of practicality.

If all mechas were equipped with this kind of escape pod, it would be equivalent to having a second life. According to the data, these mini-mechas, given enough numbers and coordination, wouldn’t necessarily be at a significant disadvantage even against an equal number of regular mechas. This would fundamentally change the current reality where mechas struggle to escape and survivors lack survival and high-speed mobility capabilities.

Fatty broke away from traditional thinking. This isn’t designed for infantry but for mechas!

How did he come up with this idea? How did the mini-mechas integrate into the mechas? Bonnie found herself increasingly drawn to his imaginative thinking the more time she spent with this guy.

Bonnie suddenly felt a bit flustered. A kind of joy and a bit of pride involuntarily arose in her heart because of this man. She could only continue to stare at the parameters on the electronic file, listening to her heart pounding due to this unusual emotion.

”General Tian, General Gordon requests you to go to the headquarters.” A soldier from the Independent Army’s words were a relief for Bonnie.

”Oh, alright.” Fatty looked at his greasy hands, searching around for something to wipe them while responding, ”Tell the General I’ll be right there.”

After the soldier saluted and left, Bonnie took out some cleaning wipes she had with her, hesitated a bit, and finally tugged at Fatty’s clothes.

Fatty turned around, saw a delicate white hand holding a wipe in front of him, and then looked up at Bonnie’s slightly shy but beautiful face, feeling a flutter in his heart.

Bonnie’s heart raced as he looked at her. Feeling her face growing hotter, she shoved the wipe into Fatty’s hand and said faintly, ”Use mine.” After speaking, she dared not look Fatty in the eye, hastily saying goodbye, and turned to walk quickly towards the base barracks.

”Fatty!” The little kid piloting the escape mecha somehow sneaked up to him, watching Bonnie’s departing figure, and said quietly, ”The peach blossoms have bloomed.”

”Yes...” Fatty gazed fixedly at Bonnie’s back, murmuring, ”One more word from you and you’ll know what it means to have a face full of peach blossoms.”

The little kid shrank the neck of the miniature mecha, deciding to stay quiet. As a clever artificial intelligence, it didn’t have pain nerves, and being beaten by Fatty was already a habit. But it knew well that this Fatty would make it understand what a face full of peach blossoms meant with his spittle.

Tian Xingjian got off the Military Flying Car at the headquarters, climbed the stairs, saluted the two sentries, and walked into the arched doorway.
