Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 398: Revised: Volume 5, Chapter 23, Two Letters_2

When the transport ship’s hatch opened, Fatty, who walked out of the ship accompanied by Kruze, immediately saw in front of him a person even fatter than himself.

The big fatty was Gordon. Over the past year of idleness at home, he had gained quite a bit of weight. At this moment, he was standing not far away, smiling warmly as he personally welcomed the little fatty who had brought him good fortune.

The little fatty quickly walked over, his chubby face jiggling as his pace quickened. His quick walk turned into a jog, and as if he had seen a long-lost relative, he rushed up... past Gordon and hugged Christina next to him, crying out, ”Boss, I almost didn’t get to see you. My life is so miserable...”

Christina was on the verge of collapse. She punched and kicked desperately, struggling to free herself from Fatty’s bear hug, rescuing her firm breasts from his drooling, lecherous, and roaming fat face. Her pretty face turned crimson with both embarrassment and anger. At that moment, she just felt that this damn fatty, who hit on her regardless of the occasion, should be locked up in Abnosk Prison forever. Letting him out was a disaster!

Popping and cracking sounds accompanied Christina’s fists landing on Fatty, but the scoundrel seemed completely oblivious. He turned around with a smiling face, shook Gordon’s hand cheerfully, and occasionally gave Christina a slight frown, signaling as if to say, ”This kid, how could she be so ignorant? Behave, Uncle here is discussing serious matters, don’t mess around.”

Gordon, held enthusiastically by Fatty, had long forgotten the welcoming speech he had prepared. He could only listen to Fatty’s incessant chattering, smiling bitterly inside, wondering how someone as stern as Russell could have trained such an exceptional disciple. However, seeing how familiar his daughter was with this fatty, most of his earlier precautions had evaporated.

Standing next to Gordon was Hailig, who was as well-known as himself. Back when Russell was around, almost all military decisions were made by these three men.

Hailig was tall and robust, with a square face full of whiskers. His imposing admiral’s uniform made him look exceptionally powerful. He had heard much about this fatty before and now, seeing him in person, felt somewhat underwhelmed. He was skeptical of the federation’s touted achievements. In his mind, either this fatty was a product of federal political propaganda, or he had become a hero due to a serious mistake, highlighting the absence of real heroes to elevate such mediocrity by happenstance.

As more people walked out of the giant transport ship, the whole welcoming party that had come with Gordon suddenly fell silent. They stared blankly at a graceful figure slowly emerging from the ship’s hatch, their gazes fixed on her, moving along with her as she walked to Fatty’s side.

Bonnie, this supremely elegant woman, was the most beautiful legend in Gazalin. But now, she stood gently beside Fatty, her stunning face adorned with a slight smile. What was most astonishing was that her gentle gaze and the distance between her and Fatty made it impossible not to notice their special relationship.

Bonnie stood tenderly by Fatty’s side, just as she had stood by Reinhardt’s side over the years, in the same posture, in the same spot. Only, the distance between her and Fatty seemed a bit closer, and her expression was notably softer, far from the high and mighty goddess she used to be.

It was as if she were a soft-spoken wife standing by her husband’s side. This feeling drove everyone a bit mad. The most incredulous thing in the world was happening right now. People had heard tales of beauty and the beast, but the reality of beauty and this beast was beyond imagination. Moreover, this beauty was Gazalin’s most beautiful and noble goddess.

This wasn’t a fairy tale, nor a beautiful legend. It was a ghost story, a horror movie.

And when Nia also unrelentingly stood by Fatty’s side, the young officers present were left agog, their eyes popping out. This fatty truly was a hell of a talent! Thinking of his shameless assault on Christina earlier, the young officers began to question the etiquette and moral education they had received since childhood. Could it be that shamelessness was the only way to pursue women?

Some young and handsome officers looked at Fatty’s somewhat bloated figure and plain face, then at the two dazzling flowers standing beside what seemed like a pile of cow dung, and secretly started planning when it might be a good idea to disfigure themselves.

After the pleasantries, the two Leray Mecha Groups settled down at the second military base in the North Suburb of Prisk City to rest. Meanwhile, Fatty, Bonnie, Rashid, and Stewart were invited by Gordon to his residence for a welcome feast.

The banquet’s food and drinks were naturally extremely sumptuous. However, the process was somewhat unbearable to watch. If one word had to describe it, it would be ”a storm of devouring.” Fatty had endured prison food for more than half a year and had squeezed toothpaste-like battlefield nutritional supplements down his throat during months of fleeing. Seeing this table of delicacies, he couldn’t care less about any formality.

He showed his skills, chatting and joking with Gordon and Hailig, discussing everything from astronomy to geography, from high art to dirty jokes, all while elegantly yet ravenously gobbling down food, his chopsticks flying.

By the time Gordon and the others realized what was happening, there were only a few empty plates left on the table, reflecting a desolate gleam, clean as new. Gordon wished he could slap himself twice. Why had he turned this into an ancient Chinese-style banquet? Had he known, he would’ve allocated the food directly to this fatty. He surely couldn’t have grabbed food straight from their plates.
