Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 372: Volume 5 Chapter 12 Breakthrough (Part 1)_2

Whether soldier or general, whether civilian or emperor, everyone’s life has been completely changed. The theme of life is war, and everyone struggles to survive in constant fear. People produce all items related to war, turning metal into weapons and fabric into uniforms.

On the city streets, rows of Mecha and squads of soldiers pass silently and swiftly. The clean streets are already full of mud and water. The former prosperity has turned into broken neon lights on the street corners, and the busiest places are where people line up to buy food according to government rations.

Due to the lack of energy, many flying cars have been parked in parking lots or on the roadside, covered in dust. Only some exceptionally resourceful speculators can continue to enjoy wine and cigars, sitting in their flying cars to seek pleasure in nightclubs hidden hundreds of meters underground and remodeled from nearly indestructible anti-aircraft facilities.

These people, besides the nobles of the Imperial countries, also include some bold merchants. They rely on some unstable space jump points or a secret route full of dangers to smuggle various contraband materials. Some with military backgrounds even engage in smuggling weapons or robbing merchant ships.

Besides these occasional pirate stand-ins, real interstellar pirates are also increasingly rampant. They attack every lucrative target, then squander their loot freely. Among these people are deserters, mercenaries, and criminals, who grow stronger in this chaotic world. Some powerful pirate groups can even contend with small fleets made up of one or two destroyers.

The southeast portion of the human interstellar map has become the focal point at the early stage of the war. Even the fierce engagements between the Binart Empire and Feiyang Republic at Karsdon and the Naga Federation’s comprehensive confrontation with the Ryan Republic have not diverted people’s attention from the Southeast War Situation.

The process of human conquest of the universe is the process of discovering one interstellar jump point after another. Countless explorers pilot ships through unknown interstellar jump points to explore the worlds on the other side. One star system after another is discovered. Some are public star systems filled with dangers and of no use, while others are heavens with immigrant planets and resource planets.

Therefore, whoever wants to conquer these star systems must first conquer the space jump points, the routes, the material supplies, and the forward bases of the stationed armies.

Jump points and routes constitute the cosmic map of human society. Without these jump points and routes, even two star systems only a few hundred light-years apart on the map would be unattainable for humans who haven’t broken the speed of light and do not have lifespans of centuries.

From the beginning, the Western Alliance wanted to take down the Leray Federation, a small to medium-sized country with only three star domains. It was hindered by the Central Binart Empire, the Naga Federation, the Southern Desic Empire, and the Eastern Jiepeng Empire, the Suss Empire.

If they could open the route between the Lerayyate Atlantis Star Domain, Leray Central Star Domain, and the Bermuda Star Domain, the Western Alliance could connect these countries into a ”U” shape stretching from the center to the south, extending to the southeast and ending in the east. By then, the Desic Empire would receive support from faraway Binart, Suss, and nearby Naga Federation and Jiepeng, obliterating Puditok and Tatania in the center and attacking the Saleria Federation in the southeast, opening another interstellar route for an offensive on the Chuckna Republic and the Feiyang Republic.

Because of the importance of the Southeast battlefield, both sides have invested massive troops here. While the Suss Empire faces severe military confrontation with the Chuckna Republic, it has formed the Eastern United Army with the Jiepeng Empire, invading the Bermuda Star Domain of Leray. Meanwhile, the Desic Empire, supported by Binart and the Naga Federation, has attacked the Atlantis Star Domain, forming a pincer movement from the east.

The Fei Alliance fully understands that relying on the two small to medium-sized countries Puditok and Tatania to counter Desic’s offensive and the medium-sized Saleria Federation to support the Bermuda Star Domain is far from enough. Therefore, the Feiyang Republic and the Chuckna Republic formed the Southeast Expeditionary Army promptly, supporting Leray’s Bermuda Star Domain through the Saleria Federation. The Ryan Republic, supported by the Feiyang Central Army, also strengthened its offensive against the Naga Federation.

Most importantly, one alliance force of the Feiyang Republic and the Ryan Republic has already set out from the Ryan Republic, detouring sixteen interstellar jump points and passing through two neutral areas’ open airspaces and the peripheral star domain of a Pro-Western Alliance small country before eventually reaching Gazalin. This move aims to curb the Desic Empire’s unrestrained western line attacks on the Leray Federation and to lead the resistance of the three surrounding small countries of the Fei Alliance, which have not dared to act recklessly until now.

Fatty doesn’t know any of this. He is just struggling to control [Logic] as he flees in the mountain jungle. This is already the third day. Although he has shaken off most of the Mythical Army, Reinhardt has been persistently on his tail.

Meanwhile, more and more enemies are surrounding the entire mountain area, sealing it off. Every minute, fighters are constantly circling in the sky.

Fatty feels like a rabbit chased by hunting dogs, unable to stop for a moment, running tirelessly forward until he collapses from exhaustion. Along the way, he has cried, begged, cursed, yet Reinhardt has never let him go and is chasing him even more relentlessly.
