Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 376: Volume 5 Chapter 12 Breakthrough_3

For three days, Fatty had only nibbled on a few mouthfuls of dry rations and had only slept for two hours, all with the help of Little Pi! Without Little Pi’s alarm and lookout, without the foresight of the SkyNet System, without the Wave Riding Skill allowing him to maneuver through the jungle without obstruction, he might have already been taken down by Reinhardt.

Keep in mind, although Magic Beast is top-notch in some aspects, it doesn’t mean it’s faster than the Ninth Generation Apollo!

Apollo is not only faster than Magic Beast, but also, Reinhardt’s hand speed surpasses Fatty’s. Higher hand speed means Reinhardt can use more comprehensive controls for running, making each step of the mecha more efficient, with better use of the engine and joint power, and thus achieving greater speed.

So, to shake off Reinhardt, Fatty had to use the Wave Riding Skill to maneuver through the jungle. Only this skill, which requires hand speeds of forty-two moves per second, could make up for the difference between him and Reinhardt.

However, now, Fatty didn’t know how much further he could run; his hands were almost too heavy to lift. Both his mind and body had reached their limit.

The Apollo behind him, like the Sun God driving a war chariot, seemed never to tire.

Relying on the Wave Riding Skill again, he managed to temporarily shake off the Apollo, the battered Magic Beast racing wildly forward.

Little Pi looked worriedly at Tian Xingjian. There was an unusual redness on this Fatty’s face, with the blood vessels under his skin pulsating, and veins on his forehead and temples bulging, making him look somewhat ferocious. At the control panel, his hands were trembling violently, almost as if they could stop working at any moment and never lift again.

At forty-five moves per second, Fatty had maintained his limit for three whole days. He didn’t understand why, although he prided himself on his fast hands and felt he had more potential, he had always been unable to break through this bottleneck.

This hand speed, which he had reached in the gravity room at Gallipalan College, had locked him in place for more than a year, like a heavy lock.

After a frantic sprint, Magic Beast suddenly lost balance, and while dodging a large tree, it crashed heavily into it. The tremendous impact broke the tree, and the mecha fell straight to the ground, its protruding joints plowing through accumulated leaves and dirt, sliding a long distance before finally coming to a stop after knocking down several smaller trees.

Fatty stared blankly at his hands.

His blue-veined hands lay still on the control sticks and keyboard. Apart from some pain and a strange numbness, there was no other sensation. It was as if they had lost contact with his body; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t move them.

Watching the red dot on the radar approach, Fatty felt utterly hopeless.

Apollo approached the target unhurriedly. No one knew that inside this seemingly still dazzling mecha, the always composed, elegant, and tidy Reinhardt was actually in a desperate situation.

These past three days, he hadn’t rested for a moment either. If it weren’t for his hand speed of fifty-four moves per second giving him faster speed than the raggedy Magic Beast, he would have given up this arduous pursuit long ago. While Fatty gritted his teeth to persist, so did he. He really wanted to know how far this Magic Beast, which had dragged him to this point, could still run and how long it could hold out.

The new tracker showed that the target had stopped.

”That fatty must be very frustrated. No matter what tricks he plays, no matter how his mecha interferes with the radar and blocks communications, I still catch up to him every time.” Reinhardt sneered coldly. If it weren’t for the Binart Empire’s newly developed tracker, capable of collecting vibrations within a ten-kilometer radius and analyzing and locating them, he wouldn’t have been able to maintain his pursuit of this sneaky fatty.

Apollo leapt onto a small hill and stopped. A hundred meters away, the battered Magic Beast lay quietly in the middle of the forest, with a broken tree beside it. The dense canopy covered half of its body.

”Boom!”

Apollo unhesitatingly raised its hand and fired an energy bullet. The olive-shaped projectile pierced through the forest and embedded itself in the battered Magic Beast’s blue energy shield, exploding amidst the violent ripples. The fallen canopy was shredded, and the Magic Beast’s body swayed like a dead fish in the tide before coming to a stop again.

”It’s over!” Fatty stared blankly at Little Pi, tears welling up in his eyes. Thinking that he would soon never see this world again, he couldn’t help but burst into loud sobs.

Little Pi shivered all over, thought for a long time, and finally said timidly, ”Why don’t you go out and talk to him? Better one person dies than both of us, right?”

”Boom!” Another energy bullet hit the Magic Beast, the violent shaking causing Fatty to feel a surge of anger at the sight of Little Pi’s annoying face. An intense heat welled up in his belly, and with a sudden slap, he knocked Little Pi to the ground, shouting angrily, ”You coward, I’m ashamed of you!”

Seeing Little Pi staring blankly at him, Fatty roared, ”Am I wrong?”

”Idiot!” Little Pi suddenly jumped up, screaming, ”You have the strength to slap me but not to run away?!”

Fatty was taken aback, looking at his suddenly nimble hands. It was like waking up from a dream. He quickly pulled the control stick and his right hand pounded on the command keyboard like a rainstorm. With the roar of the engine, in the split second before the third energy bullet arrived, he launched forward.

”Boom!”

Amidst the explosion, the dirt thrown into the air rained down pattering, and the intense shock wave threw the rolling and tumbling Magic Beast aside.

The Magic Beast flipped a few somersaults and finally dashed into the jungle. Its crimson energy shield, like a thin piece of paper, seemed about to tear apart with just a light touch!

”Boom!” ”Boom!” ”Boom!” Energy bullets exploded rapidly in the forest, but there was no gain. Reinhardt watched helplessly as the Magic Beast disappeared behind another hill and almost ground his teeth to pieces!

Apollo descended the hill, raining fire like mad. Reinhardt swore he would never give that damned fatty another three days. He would end the battle within ten minutes!

Reinhardt pushed his hand speed to the limit of fifty-four moves per second. Apollo, like a golden lightning bolt, cut into the forest with a fearsome thrust.

But ten minutes passed, and the frenziedly advancing Apollo still couldn’t find the battered Magic Beast. Reinhardt stared blankly at the vibration signals on the new tracker, realizing that no matter how hard he pushed his speed, the signal was getting farther away.

The Magic Beast raced wildly away, with tears streaming down Fatty’s face—tears of joy. Nothing beats the thrill of escaping death, and at this moment, Fatty felt like he was in heaven.

The sounds of exploding shells grew more distant from Logic. Fatty grew increasingly exhilarated, not noticing that Logic’s speed had increased considerably!

This battered Magic Beast mecha swept through the forest like a gust of wind, unaffected by the dense trees. It leapt and twisted, scattering countless fallen leaves behind it.

On Logic’s mechanical computer, a series of data surged wildly, 2400, 3000, 3100, 3200, finally stopping at 3350.

A hand speed of nearly 56 moves per second!

At this moment, Tian Xingjian didn’t know that his body had fundamentally changed after martial arts training, and his hand speed had broken through its limit unnoticed in three days of continuous extreme exertion and a burst of potential in this life-and-death moment.
