Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 364: Volume 5 Chapter 8 Bizarre Assault_3

Torick just finished off a [Vajra], but he didn’t join another battle group nor did he go looking for the next few remaining targets. He just stood there foolishly, watching the battered [Magic Beast] wildly zigzagging in the sky.

The [walker] changed direction again.

The [Magic Beast] pounced down, then quickly soared back into the sky.

The distance between him and the [walker] was just thirty meters!

The [walker], like a rabbit under the eagle’s watchful eye, could only keep changing direction to escape. It understood that when the eagle soaring above dived down next to it, that would be its death moment!

A sudden crater appeared before Osullivan; the duel had finally reached its last moments. The [walker] could no longer change direction. The terrifying, fierce [Magic Beast] was almost sticking to its back!

Jumping over the crater meant certain death!

The [walker] side-stepped and kicked off the ground, launching a reverse strike against the [Magic Beast] amidst Osullivan’s furious roars. The blue-bladed knife spun out a sharp curtain of blades, protecting his body. He was relieved that the [Magic Beast] seemed to lack ion weapons. If he could withstand the close-quarters attack, he’d survive.

”Clap!”

A crisp sound silence over the entire battlefield.

The battered [Magic Beast] appeared behind the [walker], whose right hand holding the blade twisted unnaturally. The ion light saber clanged to the ground, bounced once, and then lay still.

Separated from the mecha, the blade lost its blue glow, lying in black silence, giving a sense of finality.

Sweat poured down Fatty’s cheeks in large drops. This battle had drained all his strength. He panted heavily, ”You... you damn well kill me already!”

The [walker] fell, its arm not only broken but receiving a fatal blow to its lower back from the [Magic Beast]. What made it collapse was the dismantled lower balance system.

How was the balance system dismantled?

Among the burning debris of the [Vajra], amidst the scattered escape of the [Vajra], and with the gradually diminishing cannon fire, none of the surrounding warriors could believe their eyes.

Some sharp-eyed ones clearly saw that at the moment of the [walker]’s fall, a mechanical repair arm was bizarrely and hurriedly retracted from beneath the [Magic Beast]!

”What kind of assault was that?” Osullivan asked calmly. The [walker] had lost combat capability but wasn’t harmed. Accepting his defeat, he felt calm, perhaps wanting to know this question before his end.

”Want to know?”

”Yeah.”

”Damn it, I’m not telling you!”

Fatty looked up. The battle was essentially over. Nearly a hundred [Vajras] lost their last fighting spirit after Osullivan’s defeat, scattering and fleeing.

Meanwhile, SM Group One and Two only bit off a small part of the Desic Mecha. The group commander used a desperate measure to withdraw the main force from combat. They would haunt their path like a relentless ghost.

In the sky, the warplanes’ shadows had vanished, though their roaring could still be faintly heard, likely hidden in the clouds.

If they could shake off the ground forces, using a camp’s worth of electronic mechas for camouflage and counter-reconnaissance, a few warplanes couldn’t track them from high altitude. If they tried low-altitude optical surveillance, they would face the six standard-issue [Hell Flower] anti-air missiles on each mecha.

However, Fatty knew they were in enemy territory. Even though Desic Empire forces were mainly in Biekelan, if they were determined to annihilate him, a swarm of warplanes over him was possible. After using the anti-air missiles, he couldn’t withstand relentless bombardment!

The most crucial thing now was finding a refuge, fulfilling Russell’s mission, allowing the Freedom Front to grow strong enough. If worst came to worst, getting a few space fleets ready to escape would be prudent.

He was contemplating how to get rid of this hot potato called the Freedom Front when suddenly, the mecha radar emitted a crisp signal.

The enemy reinforcements, a camp of Mythical Mechas, were approaching from where they were airdropped to avoid mecha anti-air fire, as detected by the satellite SkyNet controlled by the little kid.

Among these mechas, the [Apollo] in the middle caught Fatty’s attention. He had seen this mecha several times in the Mythical Army, signifying Reinhardt’s arrival.

”Retreat immediately!” Fatty ordered without hesitation. For him, giving this command was almost instinctual.

”Wait!” the little kid suddenly said to Fatty, ”I need to ask something!”

Fatty then heard his voice from Logic’s electronic loudspeaker, dumbstruck: ”Hey, the one lying down there, where did you throw that woman earlier?”
