Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 549: Volume 6 Chapter 33 Going Home_3

The elderly woman was extremely distressed and quickened her pace to go inside and cook for Fatty, but Fatty quickly grabbed her.

”Mother Ann... wait a minute, I bought something for you. When Ann Lei and I are not around, it can keep you company so you won’t be lonely.” Fatty mischievously placed a little kid directly in front of her.

Seeing a cute, rosy little boy being placed in front of her like a chicken, Mother Ann was startled: ”Little Jian, whose child is this, and how did you end up buying him?” She said, hugging the little kid tightly, ”Such a cute child, did Gazalin sell him? That place is not reliable. How could they sell people too, and what about the child’s parents, how could they be so heartless?”

The elderly woman was completely bewitched by the little brat’s appearance, her hurried and anxious words guessing the little kid’s background, and she was so heartbroken she nearly cried again.

”Mom!” Ann Lei said with a mixture of laughter and frustration, ”This child is not a real person...” She glanced back at Fatty and lowered her voice: ”Are you crazy? Can you just give this thing away?”

Fatty stiffened his neck: ”Why not? She’s my mom!”

Ann Lei blushed, feeling both embarrassed and pleased. Although she didn’t understand why Fatty would give the little kid as a gift to Mother Ann, she also knew the little kid’s identity couldn’t be casually revealed. Seeing the confused look in her mother’s eyes, she hastily explained, ”This is a newly released robot.”

”Mother Ann.” The little kid called out smartly. Knowing this was Fatty’s revenge on him, but with nowhere else to go, it was best to obey for now. Seeing the affection between Fatty and Mother Ann, he knew that just a slight rebellious word from him and Fatty would probably tear him apart alive.

”Is Mother Ann something you can call?” Fatty gave the little kid’s head a slap: ”Call her grandma!”

The little kid, with an innocent and lovely face, sweetly called out, ”Grandma!”

Fatty said to Mother Ann, ”Mother Ann, don’t be polite with it, just treat it as my son. You can discipline it however you like. This thing is advanced; it can chat with you, sweep the floor, wash clothes, cook, and even trim the garden.”

”It’s not a real person?” Mother Ann’s eyes widened as she hugged the little kid, looking him over intently, touching his hair and cheeks, unable to believe this could be an intelligent robot. She had seen baby-shaped companion robots and maternity training robots, but never one this realistic.

The little kid’s cheeks were red and plump, and his skin felt smooth and soft, exactly like Ann Lei’s and Fatty’s skin when they were young. How could he not be a real person?

Seeing that Mother Ann didn’t believe it, Fatty smiled and said, ”Mother Ann, if you really don’t believe me, you can take off his pants and have a look.”

The little kid was almost driven mad by Fatty’s antics and immediately held onto his pants defensively. Hearing Fatty’s ludicrous identification method, he almost lost it: ”...hehe, it doesn’t have a butt hole!”

”Enough!” Mother Ann scolded Fatty with a spit, ”How can you talk like that?” She put the little kid down and marveled, ”This thing is made just like a real person, it must have cost a lot of money, right?”

”Not much, as long as you’re happy.”

Ann Lei felt a bit of a headache, knowing that the artificial intelligence Fatty gave to her mother was an invaluable treasure for humanity, something that couldn’t be measured by money at all.

No matter how advanced modern intelligent robots became, compared to this little kid, they were just programs without consciousness or life.

Giving artificial intelligence to an elderly person as a gift for companionship, such an unconventional idea, might be something only this Fatty would come up with.

Listening to the conversation between Fatty and her mother, seeing her mother’s joyful smile, Ann Lei gently held Fatty’s hand, not understanding why this trouble-loving Fatty could so easily make her heart fill with sweetness like it was drenched in honey.

”Are you sure it’s okay?” Ann Lei secretly asked Fatty while her mother was engrossed with the little kid, ”This is... I don’t even know what to say.”

”No problem. For that little rascal, as long as there’s internet and sufficient processing speed, its main program can appear anywhere in a fraction of a millisecond,” Fatty explained. ”Don’t be fooled by how attentively it’s sucking up to Mother Ann now; it’s probably assisting with some research at Professor Boswell’s lab at the same time. With its switching speed, we wouldn’t even know if it left for a moment.”

”Alright then...” Ann Lei, feeling relieved, playfully poked Fatty’s forehead with her finger, ”How dare you compare my mother to a horse, I’m going to tell on you.”

”Go ahead,” Fatty said with a bright smile, unconcerned: ”Do you think she would scold me?”

”Hmph,” Ann Lei stomped her foot, ”I really don’t know why my mom likes you so much.”

As she said this, Mother Ann called out from inside, holding onto the little kid like a little tail, ”Little Jian, come inside, why are you standing at the door? Lei Lei, really, talking at the door, bring him inside and let him rest.”

Fatty, feeling victorious, gave Ann Lei a playful wink and happily followed Mother Ann inside.

As soon as he stepped inside, the smile on Fatty’s face froze.

”Hmph!” Ann Lei let out a meaningful nasal sound and, carrying a faint fragrance, brushed past the stunned Fatty.
