Chapter 509: Volume 6 Chapter 14 Wild Fanatic Old Man

”Forces outside Leray?” Fatty looked at Boswell in confusion. In his impression, this old man who was obsessed with research was completely out of touch with politics and war. It was hard to imagine that he would propose such an idea.

”The new Space Jump Technology and the role Pipi can play, I understand all of that,” Fatty said. ”But what does that have to do with integrating forces outside Leray?”

”How can it not be related?” Boswell’s eyes lit up: ”If we find new Space Jump Technology, we can not only use it to change the hostile political landscape of human society as a whole, but we can also find our own backyard for the Federation!”

”So what if we find it?” Fatty pointed out the window: ”Right now, we don’t even have the manpower to develop our own national resources.”

”We lack manpower, but what about other countries?” Boswell asked: ”Gazalin’s Freedom Front, those lower-class ethnic groups that have always resisted the imperial countries’ hierarchical policies, the neutral countries outside the Fei Alliance and Western Alliance, the Free Alliance, mercenaries, pirates, freelancers, giant corporations in anarchy zones. Don’t they count as forces outside the Federation?”

Fatty felt a headache coming on. He realized that once an old man who spent every day locked in a laboratory took an interest in something on another level, it was truly terrifying: ”Just give up on integrating these people! Even if you gather such a motley crew, they would never fight for the Leray Federation.”

”As long as the interests are sufficient!” Boswell sneered: ”These bastards will fight for anyone! In an age where human resources are increasingly scarce, if the Federation masters the new Space Jump Technology, we will hold the future of human development! If we want, we can acquire a more extensive interstellar map and resources than the Feiyang Republic!”

”Old man, you’re dreaming.” Fatty’s head was throbbing: ”How long would it take? And so what if you open up a new interstellar map? The war will be over by then! Besides, have you ever heard of ’treasuring a jade ring becomes a crime’? If the Federation obtains new Space Jump Technology and doesn’t make it public, not just the Western Alliance but even the Fei Alliance would stab us in the back! They will pressure you until you hand over the technology. By then, even before you find a new immigrant planet, Leray would be finished.”

Boswell shook his head furiously. This old man was clearly obsessed: ”This is not our personal behavior. For individuals, it may seem too crazy. But for the nation, this is a direction with bright prospects! The Federation cannot continue this way. Even if we can build 15th generation mecha, we simply cannot resist the vast Empire.”

”But!” Boswell’s voice suddenly raised, startling the frowning Fatty: ”If we can use this as an opportunity to establish a new Alliance, heh!”

”Leave the Fei Alliance?” Fatty was about to collapse: ”At this time? Are you crazy?!”

”You’re the one who’s crazy!” Boswell was very annoyed by Fatty’s reaction. It was rare for this mad old man, outside of scientific research, to come up with such a genius plan: ”I’m telling you, leaving the Fei Alliance is not just my idea. Ask the Command Department, who doesn’t think this way?! It’s just that the Federation is too deeply entangled in this war, and the war situation doesn’t allow for this.”

”Right.” Fatty said: ”Leaving the Fei Alliance, can the Federation resist the Western Alliance alone?”

”You think the Western Alliance is ruthless, but the Fei Alliance is good?” Boswell snorted: ”For so many years, has the Feiyang Republic ever stopped its steps to militarize the universe? The Southeast Star Domain, they have long wanted to come in. If it weren’t for the Leray Federation holding up, they would have built military bases right on this street!”

Fatty smiled wryly: ”I understand that. I’ve witnessed it in the Little Pyrenees. Now that they’ve managed to come in as they wished, it’s not just Gazalin that suffers, Knevel too, and in the future, us as well. But ultimately, we’re in the same boat as the Feiyang Republic.”

”That’s because we’re locked in this cage without any other way out!” Boswell exclaimed: ”If we jump out of this cage and unite those countries and forces that don’t want to be involved in this war, we can turn human society from a situation where two tigers fight to a tripartite balance! Transitioning from war to a new era of deeper space exploration.”

”This...” Fatty, exhausted, said: ”Isn’t that too difficult? Given the Federation’s current strength and situation, who would listen to us?”

”There’s no one now, doesn’t mean there won’t be in the future. Besides us, other countries think the same way.” Boswell raised his head: ”At least, when I chatted with General Russell, he mentioned that the Chuckna Republic is not satisfied with the Feiyang Republic hijacking the Fei Alliance member countries!”

”Can we not talk about this?” Fatty begged: ”The new Space Jump Point Technology, we don’t even have a shadow of it yet!” Seeing Boswell about to speak, Fatty quickly said to the little kid, ”Pipi, drive!”

The flying car left the parking spot and merged into the main road after a short wait.

Boswell didn’t let Fatty off the hook and continued to chatter in his ear: ”Humans must not lose their dreams. With Pipi’s artificial intelligence, we can establish a huge platform for technology and economy. On this platform, the Federation’s power can multiply.”
