Chapter 502: Volume 6 Chapter 8 Murder_3

”After the invention of the Pearce Signal, the Earth Federation could no longer stop private adventurers from exploring broader star domains. The Light Society’s principle of selfless sharing has also brought great benefits to the Earth Federation. One after another, immigration planets and energy planets were discovered, and these planets were eventually developed one by one by the Earth Federation, becoming part of humanity’s ever-expanding interstellar map.”

”Essentially, the Light Society is a purely scientific organization. The contributions of this organization to humanity have yet to be surpassed by any similar organization. However, with the disintegration of the Earth Federation, the pace of human exploration of the universe has gradually slowed down. Countless wars among humans have delayed or even terminated active space exploration.”

”In the last thousand years, humanity has not discovered new territories. Whether it is official organizations or civilian organizations, their interstellar explorations have been futile. It seems we are locked in a large cage. In this cage, humanity has increasingly focused their attention on strife, politics, economy, map, and resources. Frictions between major powers have become more and more frequent.”

”Under such circumstances, this war seems inevitable. Especially for the two superpowers, it’s a do-or-die situation. The current resources may ensure their citizens’ prosperous lives for a thousand years, but they are far from enough to cover the enormous national defense expenditure.”

”Thirty years ago...” Doctor Will looked at Fatty solemnly and said, ”The war that made the Feiyang Republic leap into the largest superpower revealed a fact to the Light Society, that within a hundred years, there will inevitably be a war sweeping the entire human society. This war, if controlled within the scope of political interests, might not be so bad. However, with modern technology, once both sides lose their minds and target planets for destruction, such a war will become humanity’s doom!”

”And just then, a scientist named Corina proposed a hypothesis: if interstellar jump points are bridges between folded spaces, then when the length or direction of this bridge changes, the destination will also change accordingly. Once humans can freely control this bridge, we can break out of our current cage.”

”This hypothesis drew the attention of the Light Society. After further research, their scholars believed that space jump points are essentially tunnels with countless exits. The current limitation in interstellar jump theory, which requires a spaceship to be in an inertial state at the 3rd Universe Speed, restricts humans to fixed entry and exit points. In fact, by changing the spaceship’s speed, other exits of this tunnel could be found.”

”That’s impossible!” Fatty exclaimed, ”According to interstellar jump theory, to maintain a spaceship’s stability within a jump point, one can only enter the tunnel at the 3rd Universe Speed of 16.7 kilometers per second, with a speed variation range of plus or minus fifteen percent. Exceeding or falling short of this range would cause spaceship disaster. For thousands of years, no spaceship has ever survived entering a jump point at unconventional speeds!”

”No!” Boswell said sternly, ”In fact, someone once entered the tunnel at an unconventional speed and returned safely! Your parents were among them!”

”What?!” Fatty jumped up.

Boswell stared at Fatty and said, ”However, this feat and all related data were erased during their return trip. Everyone died in the spaceship disaster. We suspect it was a murder!” He emphasized every word, ”A murder without a known culprit or motive, the most mysterious murder in human history! Forty crew members, scientists, adventurers, and mechanics died. Among them were also your parents!”

”That’s impossible!” Fatty screamed, trembling all over, ”That’s impossible! No one would do such a thing! This is against all humanity!”
