Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 522: Volume 6 Chapter 20 Phantom Stream_2

Then, the morally corrupt little Fatty not only got fiercely pinched by his desk mate Ann Lei, but was also dragged out of the classroom by the teacher to stand as punishment amidst the laughter of the entire class.

Looking at the half-finished engine in front of him, Tian Xingjian was both surprised and delighted. Because he knew that no matter what, Casper would never be a lunatic who overestimated himself. And this was Casper’s relic, his research. Not to mention, just based on the designer’s initials on the engine, this engine could fetch an exorbitant price at an auction!

Fatty now finally understood why this engine had lain here for a hundred years, becoming an antique without being cleared out. It’s not just because this warehouse is a fully enclosed automatic warehouse, nor is it just because this engine is inconspicuous. It’s really because, at the Capital First Military Academy, which placed Casper’s bronze statue in the center garden of the campus, no one dared to touch Casper’s things.

Flipping through the records on the computer, Tian Xingjian seemed to return to that era belonging to Casper. This warehouse was fundamentally Casper’s dedicated laboratory storage a hundred years ago. The entire 6th Comprehensive Building was specially constructed by the Leray Federation Government and the Capital First Military Academy for Casper.

Without the slightest hesitation, Fatty began disassembling the engine noisily.

If Boswell or anyone else saw Fatty doing this, they would definitely fight him to the death! This was Casper’s research relic. Fatty dared to dismantle it! Did he not understand how precious this thing was?

Of course Fatty understood, but the thought of having a warship-level powerful engine installed in his mecha excited him wildly. Since he was wild, not to mention Casper had been dead for ninety years, even if Casper were watching from the side, Fatty would still dismantle it without hesitation!

The complex interior of the engine dazzled Fatty. Following the energy input pipe, energy converter, kinetic storage chamber, kinetic spin, kinetic output, engine computer, etc., what was presented before Fatty was a completely miniaturized warship power cabin!

Luckily this was just an unfinished work. Fatty couldn’t imagine the madness if this kind of engine had appeared a hundred years ago. Even now, a mecha equipped with a warship-level engine is unimaginable.

The deeper Fatty delved into the research, the more he felt shocked. Casper’s ingenious concept for miniaturizing the warship-level engine was simply to be admired immensely. And when the design data on the engine computer was read out, Fatty suddenly realized that he had discovered a huge treasure!

This treasure was Casper’s work logs and design data stored in the engine design computer!

The data included not only the drawings and data of this engine but also Casper’s concept and research on future mechas based on this engine, combining his knowledge, a hundred years ago!

Distant-near integrated combat forms, variable bodies, thought control systems, lighter and stronger alloys, more advanced drive systems, and fire control systems. In this concept, Casper described a new type of armed mecha that could soar to the sky, dive to the ground, and alter the modes of war.

Moreover, in each aspect he envisioned, Casper conducted research and completed many extremely important tasks.

Item by item, Fatty looked down and the more he saw, the more surprised and admired he was. A hundred years ago, this genius scientist proposed many ideas that have already become reality today. There are also many novel approaches that today’s scholars and mechanics have not thought of. Furthermore, there are numerous research results that could drive any mecha enthusiast wild.

In the final work diary marked January 21, 1960, Fatty saw the last passage Casper wrote when he ended his research work.

”I finally couldn’t outrun time, defeated by my weakening body and increasingly dull brain. Eighty-five years old is not an age to stop thinking. However, I have no choice and can no longer continue.”

”I seem to see the future of war, overwhelming warships, warplanes, and surging mechas advancing, where these killers pass, rivers of blood flow. Human civilization is regressing, countless innocent civilians die, survivors weep among the ruins and debris.”

”Leray is a peaceful country, such peace has lasted for nearly two hundred years, but no one knows how long it will continue. I have always hoped this would be a land without war fire. But I understand, such hope will eventually shatter one day under the main guns of warships.”

”Therefore, I want to research a weapon that can change the mode of human warfare. I am not a politician, I cannot end wars through politics and violence. I am a scientist, I hope to use my knowledge to make war less brutal. I dare not hope for a future universe without war, a unified universe. I only hope that future wars will be wars of few people.”

”Based on the concept of future warfare, I set my research direction on weapons that can freely fight on land, in the sky, and in space. This is a combination of mechas and warplanes. It is the Space Mecha that humans have already developed for war. What I need to do is to perfect it, making it an absolute force. Thus, changing the mode of massive wars and reducing casualties during contests between both sides.”
