Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 545: Volume 6 Chapter 31 Neglecting Sleep and Meals

Casper is a scholar with a rigorous attitude towards academic research and also a mentor with a great sense of humor. He never pretends to be profound. No matter how complex the theory or formula, he can explain it in the simplest terms. Even laypeople can grasp the concepts to some extent when they listen.

This is a skill of imparting knowledge and resolving doubts. Although Casper has been deceased for ninety years, his work log still allowed Fatty to witness the knowledge and demeanor of this giant of science.

It seemed as though he was sitting right in front of Fatty, speaking eloquently. Any profound and obscure theory or formula was effortlessly simplified by this scientific giant. His extensive and understandable references made it so clear that it was embarrassing not to understand.

Mechas, these war machines that encompass nine major systems and involve cutting-edge sciences such as materials science, physics, mathematics, mechanics, electronics, industrial design, and aerodynamics, were broken down and analyzed thoroughly by Casper piece by piece.

It can be said that any question related to Mechas could be answered within this work log! Even if there was no answer, Casper left behind inspiration. This was research that surpassed its era. Some of the technologies in it could only be described as miraculous.

Fatty couldn’t help but sincerely admire, ”Damn, this old lecher who married six wives is truly a once-in-a-lifetime genius.” Inside, he felt both admiration and jealousy, but overall, his longing for those six wives was a bit stronger.

When reading the log, Fatty often had an illusion. It was as if this scientific giant was not born more than a century ago but had traveled from decades or even centuries later. Like a prophet, he made the future transparent in his crystal ball of insight.

Such a log naturally had a fatal attraction for Fatty. Now, he was completely immersed in the world of Mechas.

While studying, he also utilized the equipment and materials in the laboratory to conduct various experiments on Logic. Magic Beast was disassembled and reassembled by him repeatedly. The materials in the lab were consumed like flowing water.

Every day, the time he spent on sleeping and eating added up to no more than three hours. After a month, the Mecha was increasingly disassembled and scattered, not upgraded yet, while Fatty himself became noticeably more haggard.

However, in the eyes of Boswell and the little kid, Fatty seemed to grow more and more excited as the research progressed. His eyes sparkled all day, and he muttered to himself volubly.

Boswell knew that all of Fatty’s abilities came from this fierce determination. Just like when he was in Gallipalan College, the uncertainty and fear of the future prompted him to absorb every bit of useful and useless knowledge desperately, like a dried-up sponge.

In Boswell’s view, Casper’s work log was tailor-made for this Fatty!

Boswell had also read the log. Yet, within just a few days of research, he was astonished to find that his understanding of the log was far less profound than Fatty’s!

He didn’t know how much Fatty had learned in this period, things that ordinary people could not imagine, solving problems that neither he himself nor the contemporary world could solve. But he could deeply feel that, at this moment, Fatty was engaging in earth-shattering intellectual collisions with the century-old scientific giant.

Fatty’s theory and knowledge were not only inferior to Boswell’s but also to many researchers in the laboratory. However, his talent in the field of mechanics and his boundless imagination were unmatched by anyone.

These were the essence that could spark brilliant fireworks with Casper’s thoughts!

One was a scientific giant who conducted research beyond his era a century ago, the other, a genius mechanic familiar with modern Mechas, with rich maintenance and combat experience, and boundless imagination.

The combination of these two individuals was not as simple as one plus one equals two. Their thoughts resonated. Casper’s basic theories were enhancing Fatty’s knowledge, inspiring him. Fatty’s imagination responded to Casper’s ideas and prophecies, his mechanic skills put Casper’s theories into practice.

Boswell automatically gave up on studying the work log.

He did not regret giving up the work log study. Casper was a genius, and Tian Xingjian was also a genius. There was no need for others to get involved between these two geniuses.

At this moment, time was precious for both Boswell and Fatty, as well as for the Leray Federation. Boswell could not allow himself to waste energy due to curiosity or competitiveness, repeating efforts in one place.

For the Leray Federation, the little kid was even more important!

Whenever he thought about having an Artificial Intelligence unprecedented in thousands of years of human history, Boswell was overwhelmed with happiness. Artificial Intelligence had been the lifelong dream of many scientists. Now, this Dream was in his hands!

Boswell dared not waste a moment. If he possessed Artificial Intelligence but did not create a platform to harness its capabilities, it would indeed be a great waste.

The current Leray Federation desperately needed this platform! With this platform, the entire Leray could step into a new era!

In the short term, research institutions would find that any project requiring supercomputer capacity was no longer a problem. Artificial Intelligence could leverage every computer it found! Not just Leray’s, every network-connected computer in human society would become Leray Laboratory’s computing resource.

The military would discover that SkyNet System would become unprecedentedly powerful, logistics allocation, weapon production and supply, troop deployment, information collection and transmission, and combat plan simulations would become extremely rapid and efficient.

The productivity decline caused by population reduction would also be significantly alleviated under this platform. More advanced automatic production lines and processing robots would emerge gradually, replacing forty percent of manual operations under the command of the Artificial Intelligence platform! Especially in military enterprises, production capacity would see a massive recovery.

In the long term, Boswell’s imagination ran wild.

The first to be impacted would be Leray’s economy.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that the era of free competition where the government used economic levers for regulation and intervention would become a thing of the past. Leray would enter a new era of planned economy!

The tentacles of Artificial Intelligence would extend to every corner of human society. In this world where paper currency had long since ceased circulation, and everyone had their electronic identity and credit information, with electronic money as the medium of exchange, all economic activities would be under its surveillance.

If the capitalist market economy system was governed by capital and the market, now, this Artificial Intelligence platform would be the capital and the market!

All material resources, demands, technologies, labor, capital, would be integrated by it. Internally, it could regulate production, avoid monopolies and excessive competition, externally, it could integrate Leray’s productivity to engage in more brutal competition.

This might have seemed like sheer fantasy before, but when an Artificial Intelligence with autonomous judgment and infinite computing power joins economic activities, Leray’s economic structure would undergo profound changes. The government’s grasp of economic situations would become immensely strong.

All businesses would be incorporated into the government’s economic guidance. They would profit from this new planned guidance and, through this platform, contribute to the broader economic system, supporting the government’s economic goals and resource allocation schemes.

Competition was not eradicated; it was merely controlled! Controlled within the government’s planned guidance system. In this system, people would know where there is a need for something, what quality and price their products must meet, what service to provide to get more orders.

This controlled competition would actually be more adequate, making it beneficial and non-destructive. The utilization efficiency of upstream economic resources would be higher, while on the downstream, new technologies would yield more substantial returns for companies.

It’s not just the economy; it involves every aspect of society.

Every person in this country would find that suddenly, their computer could genuinely communicate with them. They would receive better suggestions and solve many problems they couldn’t solve themselves.

They would find the entire world came alive at once! Their lives would change henceforth.

Of course, whether in the short or long term, until Leray truly had the capability to contend with superpowers, this platform could only appear in the form of a super central computer. Artificial Intelligence would remain the country’s greatest secret.

And no one knew what consequences would arise or what troubles it would cause when Artificial Intelligence completely integrated into society. Everything wouldn’t be perfect. Such sudden changes would hide many uncertainties and even unsafe factors.

However, Boswell couldn’t care less at this moment. For this war-torn and precarious nation, survival was the most important issue!

Just like Tian Xingjian, Boswell plunged into relentless and tireless work every day. The sense of accomplishment from building this world-changing Artificial Intelligence platform had made him forget everything else. Such temptation was irresistible for him.

He was unaware that when he included everything under the jurisdiction of the intelligent platform, the changes in Leray meant something different to Fatty!

It meant that as long as Fatty wished, he could become a god in this nation!
