Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 517: Volume 6 Chapter 18 Mechanical Knight_3

Since Gallipalan College moved here, in less than a year, there have been twelve competitions held under various names between the students of both sides. Whether it’s military competitions like sand table exercises, electronic warfare, or basic training subjects, or civilian project competitions like cross-country obstacle marathons and flying car races, both sides have fought intensely.

So far, the record stands at a six-to-six tie. Neither side can one-up the other.

However, the record is just numbers; the participants are living people. The students of Gallipalan College say that the highest-ranking participants from their college were second-year students. The senior students are fighting on the front lines and don’t have time to play around with the older third- and fourth-year students from Capital First Military Academy who bully the younger ones. So, the students of Gallipalan are proud even in defeat and remain undaunted. Losing also means winning in their book.

The students of First Military Academy were infuriated and immediately accused the students of Gallipalan College of being shameless, not only trying to glorify themselves but also engaging in despicable acts during the competitions, such as eavesdropping and using laxatives to win, bringing disgrace to military honor.

Gallipalan College retorted, claiming they are well-versed in military strategy and their actions align perfectly with strategic principles. They argued that First Military Academy students don’t understand science, the importance of intelligence, pharmacology, or the role of decapitation strikes in warfare.

Both sides argued back and forth incessantly, each pushing and shoving the other verbally.

The frequent competitions have had the benefit of greatly improving the academic and technical skills of students from both institutions. The downside, however, is somewhat disheartening: Gallipalan College boys couldn’t court girls from First Academy, and First Academy boys couldn’t woo the beauties from Gallipalan.

This really is a very serious problem.

After some observation and communication over time, both sides’ comrades felt it was necessary to end the prolonged conflict as soon as possible. They needed to restore a peaceful coexistence to create favorable conditions for solving personal matters.

Hence, when the issue in the laboratory arose, there was an immediate undercurrent in both academies. Everyone believed that with the experts from the laboratory involved, it was a perfect opportunity to decisively settle things. Through this final competition, let the losers cry and the winners laugh, putting an end to the enmity once and for all.

The students of First Military Academy were the first to issue a challenge and chose the most irresistible competition topic: simulated mecha fighting.

There were three reasons for choosing this topic.

Firstly, just as the space shuttle symbolizes the universe, mecha represents the land in this mechanical era. No one can resist the allure of mecha. In human society, mecha has become part of everyone’s life. Owning a mecha and becoming a mecha master is the dream of every passionate young person.

Secondly, mechanical control is a basic training subject for military academy reservists. Whether in the military or civilian sectors, mecha fighting has always been popular. Military academy students will have learned some mechanical technology. Some of them are officers from armored units furthering their studies or civilian private mecha fighting masters. With hidden talents among the participants, the competition becomes unpredictable and more entertaining.

Lastly, mecha fighting is a traditional competitive event among the major military academies. The competition not only tests control skills but also comprehensively assesses both sides’ strengths in electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, and power engineering. In the internal military virtual network, mechas can be modified exactly like in reality.

The outcome between equally matched mechanical warriors often hinges on mecha modifications.

Such a competition, combining academics, skills, and hobbies, is enough to determine the status between the two academies! If you lose in such an important competition as mecha fighting, no matter how many other competitions you win, it’s pointless!

Therefore, for this competition, Capital First Military Academy not only sent Taylor, who holds the civilian level 3 mecha fighter title, but also brought back several alumni on leave from the front lines, and even invited a level 1 mecha fighter and a level 3 civilian mecha knight!
