Counterfeit Hero

Chapter 520: Volume 6 Chapter 19 Engine_3

Angela said dispiritedly, ”Yeah, even the instructors from our military academy training camp are up there. It makes us the batch with the worst mecha control skills in the academy’s history.”

Wang Fuxing turned his head to look at Angela, his eyes lit up, and suddenly he shouted: ”Yeah, how could I forget this?”

Angela spat and pouted, ”What’s with the shock? What did you forget?”

Wang Fuxing said excitedly: ”The instructor, our instructor!”

Angela looked suspiciously at the jubilant Wang Fuxing and asked: ”Instructor? What do you mean?”

Wang Fuxing said proudly: ”Our instructor is back, he’s in the laboratory of the complex building, you guys didn’t know, right?”

”What?” Catherine and Angela jumped in shock simultaneously: ”He’s back? Are you serious?”

A few radish heads nodded like chickens pecking at rice, confirming Wang Fuxing’s words. Angela’s eyes practically became heart-shaped as she pulled Wang Fuxing: ”Federation Hero, wow, quickly take me there.”

Wang Fuxing said with a laugh: ”Is the military laboratory that easy to get into? If I could get in, I would’ve done it long ago. Charlie’s cousin said, the instructor and Professor Boswell went into the professor’s exclusive research room and haven’t come out since. Presumably, they are researching some important subject.”

”Oh my god, think of a way to get him out!” Angela was both excited and anxious, jumping on her toes: ”Quickly, everyone think of a way. Federation Hero Tian Xingjian, the pride of Gallipalan College, my idol. How about... we set a fire in the complex building?”

Everyone was shocked, Catherine slapped Angela on the back of the head, chided: ”You crazy girl, have you lost your mind?” Then she pondered for a moment, bit her lip and continued: ”I’ll ask my dad for help, some of his bodyguards have excellent skills. If it doesn’t work out, we’ll just spend money to hire people.”

The radish heads looked at each other, they knew Catherine was born into a wealthy family, hiring a few experts wouldn’t be a problem. However, the instructors invited by the Capital First Military Academy were previously students of the academy, if outsiders were hired, they might not comply.

Wang Fuxing sighed: ”Make a few more plans. We can’t have this competition ruined by us. Catherine, go ahead and hire people, initially pretending they graduated from our academy. They wouldn’t find out immediately anyway. Let’s check the situation tomorrow first. If we really can’t win, we’ll think of something else. It’d be best if the instructor comes out before tomorrow’s match. With his skills, he could knock out a hundred Level 3 Mecha Knights. If that doesn’t work, we won’t actually set a fire, we’ll just find a way to trigger the fire alarm.”

*********

Fatty didn’t know that his reckless dismantling in the warehouse had caused so many issues.

He applied himself with great fervor, eagerly absorbing all useful and useless knowledge every day. Many things, once he dismantled them, he could fully understand. For those he couldn’t comprehend immediately, he sought answers in the central computer until he grasped them.

Unlike scientists like Boswell, Fatty’s career as a mechanic soldier made him focus more on practical operations. He repeatedly dismantled and reassembled every part until he could identify the dimensions, materials, and functions of each component with his eyes closed.

His long-term combat on the front line gave Fatty much richer experience and a clearer perspective on the actual usage, improvement ideas, combat data, and control experience of mechas and various machinery than scientists who burrow themselves in laboratories.

Currently, Fatty was staring at an ion engine.

This engine resembled a flat rectangular box. It was black and unremarkable. The dust covering the engine indicated that it had been forgotten in this automated warehouse for a long time. The shelf’s storage record showed that since the engine was brought in 1960, it had never been retrieved.

A hundred-year-old engine, and it turned out to be only a semi-finished product. There were many parts of the engine that hadn’t been completed, obviously, the designer faced insurmountable difficulties leading to the failure of its development. Such an item would be hard to attract anyone’s attention.

But Fatty was stunned by the engine before him. The engine’s shape and design idea were actually a miniature version of a battleship engine! The designer was undoubtedly a lunatic!

The recent Chapters set up future events. Starting from Fatty’s return to Leray, the bounty targeted at him, Boswell’s ideas on Federation strategy, civilian mecha fighting, Earth, Chuckna Republic, mechanical research, artificial intelligence, etc., are the points I had to outline. Thus, some introductions were necessary. Once the general idea is laid out, upcoming plots will enter a new world different from the previous part.
