Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 95: Chapter 86: The Giants Descend onto the Main Battlefield

War doesn’t only happen at altitudes of 5,000 meters. In fact, as one B-level Flying Species after another was captured, the ground warfare had long been ignited.

On the backs of ’Heavy Four-legged Mechanized Bodies’, single-molecule ropes were taut, at the ends of the ropes were giant mechanical birds flapping their wings desperately trying to break free.

Ever since a Mechanical Hunter with the surname Gao popularized the ’Single Molecule Line’, the lines at the military supply warehouse were cleaned out, forcing the Public Security Corps to categorize them as military supplies.

And then they were put to use here.

It’s undeniable that these ’building materials’ were indeed effective. Had it been ropes made of other materials, dozens of them would have snapped by now.

The ’Mechanical Cheetahs’ continuously tugged at the wings of the three flying beasts, preventing them from taking flight again.

Surrounding them were the remnants of Combat Robots, whose energy boards were directly blasted apart by the rampaging Radiation Field.

This added further complications to the 3rd Stage, trapping the three giant mechanical birds.

Nearby buildings were populated with Mechanical Hunter Elites launching frenzied assaults.

These individuals were few in number, even including the Mechanical Hunters from the neighboring three Oases, there were barely a dozen.

This is because in the face of a B-level Radiation Beast, numbers became irrelevant. Just the terrifying pressure of the Radiation Field alone was enough to sap the fight out of most people, and even robots would suffer system crashes due to external interference.

Among them, the ’Giant Bombing Bird’ had already been surrounded by more than a dozen Large Combat Robots, efficiently executing a kill.

Another B-level Mechanical Bird wasn’t struggling much, as its electronic bird eyes flashed with a stream of green, garbled data.

This indicated that the corps’ Cyber Hacker was carrying out remote hacking on them.

Only a leader Radiation Bird with over a dozen heads struggled wildly, raising its heads, energy converging into the energy emission port in its teeth, resulting in a thigh-thick Energy Cannon.

Most Mechanical Hunters were engaged with this one, some using invisibility for close-quarters attacks, while others delivered ranged firepower; most impressive were the bizarre ’Mechanical Hunting Transformations.’

For instance, turning metal ants into mobile bombs, digging tunnels to infiltrate the opponent’s abdomen, or strapping Mechanical Gliders to lasso a horse mid-air, or riding Plasma Horses to circle the Mechanical Birds for plasma spraying, with cables in the horse mane ’plugging’ into the dreadlocks of the Mechanical Hunter, displaying extraordinary agility.

”Die, die, you monsters!”

Standing atop an open rooftop, Black God laughed heartily while pouring out firepower frenziedly. Half of the mechanical components on him had fully burnt out, while the remaining half risked barrel explosion due to overheating.

One of his arms was severed, a third of his head missing, and his body bore various cracks.

A Flying Radiation Beast transformed by a Crawler was being chased by over a dozen flying species, clearly revealing its proud ’Transformation’ ability was discovered.

Radiation Beasts aren’t fools. In fact, the cognitive ability of most Radiation Beasts’ brains rivals that of humans.

After all, no matter how you transform, your attack target remains unchanged.

The body of the ’Nine-headed Bird’ occasionally erupted in several-meter-long blood streaks.

One of the bird heads had been sliced off using the same technique.

Miyamoto Sanzang and his only remaining AI disciple were around the bird’s body carrying out stealth assassinations.

Explosive damage exceeding a thousand.

These assassination techniques inherited from the Assassin Group had undergone transformation over years of hunting into techniques targeting large biological entities.

Two Bio-Fusioners were also participating in the siege; on land, Bio-Fusion Armor could unleash full power, causing ’ton’-level punch force even with simple punches and kicks.

A ’Rotting Tank’ had just entered the battlefield, only to be smashed by a Bio-Fusioner’s single punch.

In the sky, five Symbionts ’Life and Death Unknown’ were piloting Mechas to bombard the bird swarm, showcasing laser cuts, missile launch nests, close combat energy saws, acoustic weapons; fully demonstrating ’Money Power’ warriors.

The Symbiotic Squad and Bio-Fusioners were the primary output of the battlefield; the former confronting the mechanical bird swarm summoned by the leader, the latter controlling the B-level Radiation Bird.

The sky was crowded, full of minions of these three B-level bosses, employing ’piecemeal tactics’ desperately.

In reality, B-level Radiation Beasts weren’t easy targets because of their terrifying six-digit blood volume; even standing still and letting you strike wouldn’t kill them quickly.

Not to mention their near-constant ’AOE’ skills, sweeping through wide areas; aside from elite-tier Mechanical Hunters and some Super Mercenaries from the Public Security Corps, hardly anyone could withstand them.

For some reason, the fifty Large Combat Robots expected in the 5th Stage to execute kill missions only amounted to a little over twenty.

These had mechanical energy reaching five thousand, the ’Iron Wall Type Three’, were supposed to be the main players of the 4th Stage.

Such numbers could only execute on two large Radiation Beasts.

If scattered into three, the ’Slaying Rate’ would significantly decrease.

This was an intolerable situation for the remotely spectating ’Commanders.’

...

At this moment, in an underground command center, Demon Mountain Major General’s face was somber, several battle commanders were somewhat anxious.

No wonder, as red dots increased in the outermost area, the blue dots responsible for guarding dwindled.

This indicated that the two A-level Monsters were aware of their intentions, continuously stirring beast tides to rescue comrades.

Opening the no-fly zone is the foundation for a series of military actions to follow.

And eliminating B-level Flying Species is the only method.

”How did Biological Warriors suddenly go out of control on a large scale?”

”Yeah, I don’t know how the ten synthetic biology camps in the rear are doing either.”

”If the campaign fails, will the ’scorched earth tactics’ be executed?”

The commanders were whispering amongst themselves, as they were only responsible for the initial tactical arrangements. Once the real fight began, they could do nothing but feel helpless.

The ultimate executors of war are always those on the battlefield.

Demon Mountain had his tiger-like eyes half-open and half-closed, weighing whether to increase troop strength. He indeed had several elite units under him, with strength not inferior to the ’Bio-Fusion Squad’ sent out.

But these elite units were reserved to deal with those two A-level monsters.

Once they were deployed, the two A-level Radiation Beasts would also move out.

This would mean that a decisive battle would come sooner than planned.

Neither side was ready for a decisive battle.

However, now there was an advantage to the decisive battle: the Beast Tide had not yet entered the next phase — the phase completely suited for A-level Radiation Beast combat.

The fact that Demon Mountain had this thought already showed his pessimism about the future course of the war.

The best way for a decisive battle is to separate the two A-level Radiation Beasts for combat.

But a decisive battle now wouldn’t be bad.

At least there wouldn’t be a need to execute ’scorched earth tactics’.

He was still waiting, the largest three B-level Mechanical Birds had already been shot down, and barring any accidents, two of them could be destroyed.

He planned to wait for the other two.

If the last two could be shot down, he could consider a decisive battle. After all, once air supremacy was regained, the various long-range weapons of the Security Corps would become completely unrestricted.

The Duke of Fission and Crimson Empress did not have flight capability, which was a huge advantage.

Shooting down three B-level Radiation Beasts, honestly, had already accomplished the basic mission.

But what if there’s a surprise?

...

High above in the sky, thunderclouds rumbled. At some point, the massive layer of dark clouds began to descend, and within the clouds, the dense sounds of thunder rolled together.

Everyone couldn’t help but look up; the terrifying pressure of the two B-level Radiation Beasts was like a lid on a pot, making even the main forces on the battlefield shiver uncontrollably.

Some were excited, some thrilled, some puzzled, some worried.

However, natural phenomena don’t shift with human will. In the roar of ’rumble’ ’rumble’, the sky lit up as bright as daylight.

Although the appearance of the Ionizing Radiation Bird was extremely beautiful, with its sleek body, radiance like Thor, and clouds rolling all around.

But this couldn’t hide the fact that it was being pinned down by another giant bird gripping its neck.

’How could this be!?’

This thought arose in everyone’s mind.

Two colossal beasts, combined weighing nearly a hundred tons, crashed down from the sky, causing a shockwave no less than an 8-magnitude earthquake.

In the giant tremor, dust engulfed everything, causing several old buildings from the Civilization Era to collapse dramatically.

Amidst the dust, four Bio-Fusioners shot out, landing heavily on the ground, their energy vents mostly extinguished.

Unlike a mecha, when a mecha’s energy is depleted, it becomes nothing more than a metal cage.

The Bio-Fusion Armor itself, however, is a powerful melee weapon.

Amidst the smoke and dust, the Seven-Tailed Winged Dragon spread its wings, covering the sky and the sun. Its two mechanical forelimbs were torn apart by the violent electric current impact.

This only made its form more ominous.

Then, the Seven-Tailed Winged Dragon directly turned and headed to the outskirts.

”Where are you going?” Kep asked in astonishment, shouldn’t the two most threatening B-level Radiation Beasts be dealt with now?

”It’s better to break one finger than hurt ten!” Gao Gong said righteously, but in his heart, he was thinking —

’No one can stop me from grabbing the kill credit!’

A heavily wounded B-level Radiation Beast, how many days would it take for me to grind out this big prize?

At the moment the Seven-Tailed Winged Dragon turned, everyone saw the Hunter Knight on the neck of the Winged Dragon.

...

In the underground command center, Demon Mountain’s mouth slightly opened, and after a moment, he excitedly said: ”Have Split Tiger Squad 2, Mad Butcher, and Shadow Team prepare for interception!”

Meanwhile, behind the walls of Scavenger City, a gigantic figure radiating high levels of radiation pressed its hands against the city wall, and fiery red magma seeped from its palms.

On its shoulder, the Crimson Queen held a Blood Coagulation Spear, looking expressionlessly into the distance.
