Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 64: Chapter 5: Factory Love Story

Recycling station, abandoned building

Inside a super-sized nutrient tank.

The previous ’tenant’ of this nutrient tank was the Reaper Queen; the current tenant has become Fat Xiang.

The Reaper Queen’s menacing physique held a certain hunter’s elegance.

While Fat Xiang was purely obese, bloated.

The area occupied by both creatures was surprisingly similar.

Gao Gong stood with arms crossed, while Aunt Xiang’s expression shifted uncertainly; the room was filled only with the sound of testing devices operating.

After quite a while, Professor Han looked up, calmly saying: ”Large-scale burns all over, internal organ bleeding, severe tears in some muscle groups, moderate radiation—”

”Just tell me the result,” Gao Gong said without turning his head.

”The first option is to repair through conventional surgery. However, in this case, the best outcome for the patient is mild disability. The patient will be able to manage daily life but fighting again would be impossible.”

Professor Han glanced at the remnants of the Reaper Queen’s corpse.

”The second option is to replace the patient’s circulatory system with hers, but the surgical risk is higher and will lead to severe biological rejection.”

Gao Gong said nothing; Aunt Xiang was silent for a moment, then spoke: ”Use the second option.”

”Alright, I’ll make preparations.”

Professor Han went to the ’data room’ nearby. As the two passed each other, Professor Han suddenly spoke.

”Didn’t expect to see you here, Sister Xiang.”

”I didn’t expect it either, Researcher Han, everyone always thought something had happened to you; it’s really good that you’re alive.”

Professor Han walked through the doorway, outside which Old Sun opened his mouth, his gaze complex, but Professor Han didn’t even spare him a glance, walking straight past.

”Regarding this, I’ll give you an explanation.”

”That’s for sure!”

Aunt Xiang’s eyes only fixed on the blood-smeared Fat Xiang, her tone icy.

Gao Gong took one last look at Fat Xiang and also exited the room; at the staircase entrance, Huang Yuanli saw this and quickly approached.

”He’s not dead, surgery will be done later.”

The Little Woman let out a big sigh of relief, seeing Gao Gong continue walking, hurriedly catching up.

”It’s really good that Fat Fat isn’t dead, but is the surgery risk high? Is there anything I can do?”

”When the surgery is done, use mind communication to find Fat Xiang’s consciousness and help him stay awake. When biological rejection increases, humanity is easily swallowed by the beast nature.”

”Alright!”

The Little Woman nodded seriously.

”And Aunt Xiang’s old friends, help me take good care of them; I currently don’t have the energy to look after them.”

”No problem, our Cable Tribe people are best at making friends.”

The Little Woman’s chest patted ’pa pa’ loudly.

”Also, a snake can’t function without a head; let the few old guys in your tribe prepare for the ’Cable Sacrifice,’ according to your tribe’s rules, to promote you to the new Great Elder.”

The Little Woman was stunned and said: ”Such few people, is it necessary to be so formal?”

”Besides, I’m not particularly keen about being Great Elder.”

”People won’t stay so few for long; your tribe has great potential and will soon grow and expand,” Gao Gong suddenly stopped, seriously looking at the other.

”Being Great Elder is boring, don’t you want to be City Lord?”

The Little Woman stood in place, dazed for quite a while—

”What do you mean by City Lord!?”

Unfortunately, Gao Gong handles the killing but not the burial; amid the sound of the air pump, he directly closed the armored vehicle’s door and then picked up the car phone, dialing a number.

”This is the factory internal hotline, press 1 for orders, 2 for repairs, for waste disposal press...”

Gao Gong directly stated a string of numbers.

”Connect me to Workshop Director Du of vehicle 315.”

”Okay.”

Huang Yuanli pressed her ear tightly against the car door, but the soundproofing of the vehicle was too good, and she only vaguely heard the voice of a woman.

After quite a while, the car door reopened, and the Little Woman looked at the other with a gossipy gaze.

”Hmph hmph hmph, who was that woman just now? Is she your old flame? What were you calling her for?”

”None of your business!”

”Sis is just concerned about you!”

”You big-aged loli, haven’t even gotten married yourself and you’re worrying about me; what, afraid any suitors of yours are loli enthusiasts?”

”At your age, having loli enthusiasts interested in you would be considered good!”

The Little Woman, ashamed and angry, jumped forward, biting Gao Gong’s leg.

The greatest system transformation of Gao Gong’s original body was a titanium alloy skeleton.

The sports system transformation rate was at least 5% because of this.

It’s a mechanical transformation that isn’t particularly advanced but very professional.

More importantly, a titanium alloy skeleton isn’t easy to come by, as it’s the soldier template of the Mechanical Legion, not sold externally.

The reason for obtaining it, naturally had internal personnel assistance.

The person who helped was a woman.

The story is simple, summed up in one sentence—an undeniable love story between a factory brother and a factory sister.

One day ten years ago, a Shamate youth in a factory told a factory sister with a rebellious face, I don’t want to be a laborer my whole life; I’m going to the desert to seek wealth, either return in glory or wrap myself in a horse skin!

No other options!

A man must rely on himself!

And then he went.

And then, he quickly got involved with a rich lady named ’Black Rose’ and began his life as a little wolfdog.

Meanwhile, the factory girl who stayed behind climbed her way up by screwing screws, starting from apprentice, to general worker, then to junior worker, and advancing to intermediate worker, advanced worker, finally reaching the frontline management level, line leader, group leader, and so on.

If this were written into a novel, it would be brimming with positive energy.

An ordinary woman becomes independent and strong, realizing her life’s value through the physical industry.

The man went out to sea.

The woman stood up!

Then one day, the independent woman, Du so-and-so, once again runs into her childhood friend whom she has always longed for.

At that time, Du Zhaodi, already a workshop director, confessed again very seriously, ’I’ll take care of you.’

The little wolfdog sneered and agreed on the spot.

That’s how this body of titanium alloy bones came to be.

The original owner’s single-digit personality rating wasn’t without reason.

But that’s not the point.

The point is, relying on them to self-check and self-correct to catch an inside job is utterly ridiculous.

Reporting it would absolutely fall on deaf ears.

The results of the Hydra Battle proved that the upper echelons of the Security Corps were masters of deception.

At this time, it’s not enough for him to just lift the table, there needs to be a strong intervention from a more advanced department.

Fortunately, the factory is just such an organization.

The ’Factory Organization’ is not a single factory, nor a production line, if it must have a definition, it is more like the ’State-Owned Enterprise System’ of the Mechanical City camp, or it could be called ’Planet Factory’ or ’AI Production Line.’

It is mainly responsible for accepting purchases from the Mechanical City Main Brain.

The factory clusters in the Radiation Desert are responsible for providing all the supplies for Mechanical Cities, including the ’Nightless City.’

It’s equivalent to the ’General Logistics Base.’

And the Security Corps, in essence, is factory security, although appointed by the ’Nightless City Intelligent Main Brain,’ its main job is to guard the factories.

In hindsight, the Cloud Nobility exploited the gaps between the ’Mechanical City,’ ’Mother City Corps,’ and ’Factory’ systems.

The overlapping zones of the three turned into a no-man’s land after some manipulation.

If the other side can ride on coattails, Gao Gong can naturally hold onto thighs too.

We’re all scum here, who’s afraid of whom? Is your personality worse than mine?

However, before flipping the table, Gao Gong has to lift the table first.

And the current situation is actually a pretty good opportunity.

During wartime, soldiers were assassinated on the streets; outside the Oasis, the Beast Tide is watching hungrily.

At this time, making some achievements is relatively easy to be ’set as an example.’

The more they muddle through, the more they emphasize the leading role of the advanced, it’s always been like this.

Gao Gong sought out Little Finger again, using his Dark Net to investigate the situation of other cohorts.

Anyone with half a brain knows that this assassination attempt wasn’t just targeting their small team.

With the typically grand style of the Knight Order, there’s a good chance they swept the entire list.

...

On the other side, by the bonfire, a dozen ’elders’ with missing limbs sat in a circle boasting.

’Elders,’ though, aren’t really old, the oldest being in their forties, yet each had graying hair, sagging skin, a dispirited demeanor, but occasionally, a beast-like emerald gleam flickered in their squinted eyes.

Not far away, the tied-up mercenaries were a result of their handiwork.

These were the old generation of Classical Stream Hunters; the desert was their battlefield more than a decade ago.

However, time takes down heroes, and as Biological Rejection reached its limit, they had to exit the stage.

Like Old Sunx, these people lived quite miserably, hardly distinguishable from Scavengers.

So when Aunt Xiang extended her invitation, they joined with little hesitation.

Iron Hide really liked this group of ’elders,’ feeling the long-lost aura of gang leaders from them.

Besides, without them, he and Fat Xiang might not have escaped.

These old hands were all big talkers, with dirty jokes flying about.

In their stories, the lowest-level Radiation Beast they took down had to be at least C-level.

Anything lower was too filthy to kill.

One blind old hand quietly groped a nearby tribal girl’s butt as she came to pour water.

The Cable Tribe’s girl wasn’t someone to be trifled with either.

She picked up a kettle and started beating the ’old man.’

The others burst into laughter, mocking him relentlessly.

”Old Qian, your lecherous nature sure isn’t going away.”

”Serves you right!”

”Still thinking about women in this condition, weren’t your Reproductive Systems reformed?”

When the tiger is down and out, even little pipsqueaks have their chance—Old Qian was pinned down and beaten to a pulp, his nose gushing blood.

”Don’t hit, don’t hit, it wasn’t on purpose, it was a reflex, a reflex, you understand? It’s the aftereffects of having biological weapons implanted!”

After a thorough beating, the tribal girl snorted coldly and left.

”Back in the day, I slew a B-level Titan Beast single-handedly faced down three Beast Herds, never suffered such an insult, and now these young folks completely lack martial ethics.”

Old Qian clutched his nose, grimacing, but tried to maintain his dignity, attempting to prove he’s just not hitting women.

The surrounding laughter only got louder.

Old Sunx stood a distance away, eyes dazed, lips pursed, seemingly making some sort of decision.
