Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 70: Chapter 61: Brewing

They said to fight the Radiation Beasts, but it couldn’t be done immediately.

At least he had to fully master his upgraded skills first.

So, Gao Gong switched to another place and leveled up for two more days.

During these four days, the onlookers’ emotions went from shock to shock, to disbelief, and finally to numbness.

How could you last so long?

Overall, the profession of Mechanical Hunter is considered quite enduring, after all, they face not only Radiation Beasts but also various harsh environments.

However, the other side lasted a whole four days, 96 hours of high-intensity fighting, even on the brink of life and death.

Except for the time a low-level Mechanical Man came to deliver supplies, when he chewed on a few bars of Nutrition Paste and rested for an hour, he spent the rest of the time in bloody combat.

He didn’t even go to the bathroom!

Some suspected that Gao Gong’s digestive system had been modified.

And they were right.

The Reaper’s stomach could eat almost anything, digest anything, all the way down to the waste.

So Gao Gong’s bathroom frequency, well, was much lower than that of a normal person.

And the command center got busy again, this time not studying Gao Gong’s combat system, but his modification system.

Why? Well, this guy lasted so long, longer than a combat robot.

Robots suffer wear and tear, but after killing thousands of Radiation Beasts, many of them C-level leaders, how come you haven’t shown any wear?

No way, there must be some damage, but the recovery speed is astonishing.

There must be some special modifications.

Once we get hold of these modification techniques, the Legion’s strength will definitely see a significant boost.

Moreover, some of his weapons are also very intriguing, like the ’sound system’ that lures enemies, the ’VR’ that causes hallucinations in Radiation Beasts, and the Single-Molecule Hook Claw, in short, this person is full of treasures.

...

In the command center

”Manager Zhou.”

”Good morning, Manager Zhou.”

”Manager Zhou, here are the documents you requested!”

Manager Zhou nodded and smiled at everyone. He was known for being very gentle with his colleagues and subordinates, so he had a good reputation in the logistics department.

Some privately said that in this Legion, the only one who didn’t engage in corruption, bribery, or equipment trading was probably him.

However, once the door was closed, Manager Zhou’s expression immediately turned grim.

He strode to his desk, pressed a combination lock, took out an encrypted phone, and dialed a number.

”Why didn’t you arrange for my withdrawal!”

”You gave me two choices at the beginning, either go to Nightless City or the Other Shore of Freedom, you are treacherous!”

”Get his modification data? Easy for you to say, now two generals are interested in him, what do you want me to do?”

”Do you think I won’t turn myself in and expose all your operations?”

’Bang!!’

Manager Zhou slammed the receiver on the table with a ferocious look.

After taking a few deep breaths, Manager Zhou finally calmed down, his anger gradually turning into regret.

He shouldn’t have got involved in this mess.

The Security Corps, unlike other Mechanical Legions, was notorious for corruption, rotten from top to bottom.

While he wouldn’t claim purity, he could guarantee that he earned the least among his peers.

He had a strong sense of moral superiority.

Then that superiority was shattered instantly by his peers’ money.

Damn it, we’re all doing the same job, why is your gray income a hundred times mine?

He planned to play big too!

Then he got caught in the act.

Maybe he lacked skills in the art of corruption and bribery.

Before he knew it, he was caught on the fire.

Especially when it was the Knight Order, the infamous terrorist organization on this planet, that set him up.

Manager Zhou rubbed his forehead, breathed out heavily, and put on his signature smile, making another phone call.

”Hello, Brigadier General Geville? I have something to report to you.”

...

Gao Gong slashed the neck of the last mechanical ostrich with one stroke.

With a flick of the blade, he threw off a splash of gray mech-fluid.

He turned around and pressed a button, instantly switching the electromagnetic sensor’s attraction to repulsion.

Five Green Reapers ejected and landed on the ground in front of the tank.

”Why are you quitting so early today?” Aunt Xiang asked curiously, ”You don’t seem worn out.”

”Repairing equipment.”

Gao Gong ignored her; after Fat Xiang left, this old woman returned to her usual money-grabbing self, insisting on riding Iron Hide’s vehicle to say she would help him deal with ’scrap’.

The little woman also wanted to come, saying there was no live stream at the recycling station, and she wanted to watch the ’Humanoid Beast’ in action.

Gao Gong directly told her to scram!

’Wilderness Lone Wolf’ is such a great nickname, cold and proud; how did it turn into ’Humanoid Beast’?

’Humanoid Beast’ sounds like Big Muscle Dominator.

These days of blocking monsters not only brought him a massive amount of experience but also, secondly, increased his reputation.

[Your regional reputation +2000, entering the next stage, acquired the title: Humanoid Beast]

Humanoid Beast: All Mechanical Hunters have heard of your infamous reputation and express genuine awe at your endurance.

Gao Gong sighed.

In public, how could one tell the truth?

But this isn’t all bad.

The bigger his reputation, the less likely the spy would escape.

The Knight Order is probably more curious than the Security Corps people now.

Others may not see it, but they certainly can. The methods Gao Gong is displaying now are very much like ’biomechanical technology’.

And it’s a longer-lasting biomechanical unity.

As long as the other party isn’t blind, they won’t let me go.

As for the style of the Knight Order, well, just look at certain top players who’ve been decommissioned to understand.

If they don’t kill someone, they’ll beat them to death.

In the eyes of large artificial intelligences, all ’humans’ are executing programs, and programs just need to be executed.

”Did you bring the stuff?”

The Iron Hide, who was roasting radiation bird wings, let out a ’hmm’, and quickly got up.

Although radiation beast meat can’t be eaten, it can be smelled, and it smells great.

Iron Hide wiped his hands, opened the trunk, and together with Gao Gong dragged down two large pieces — one was a mobile sterile chamber, the other was an operating table.

This is also the reason why the Little Woman couldn’t get on the car — there was too much stuff, couldn’t take on any garbage.

After plugging the two large pieces into the energy board, Iron Hide also took a high-tech box from the car seat.

After opening it, there were two more advanced micro motors inside.

”Advisor Huang asked me to give this to you, he said it’s a special version for advanced combat robots, with three times the power of your previous one.”

Gao Gong nodded; every team leader has their own procurement channel. Huang Wen’s predecessor was a mechanical engineer, capable of obtaining insider products directly.

They’re all talented folks with backdoors.

On the operating table, three surgical arms buzzed noisily, and very quickly, an opening appeared on the inner side of the knee, and something slightly larger than a chip, but smaller than a circuit board, popped out.

For Gao Gong, this was as simple as changing a bandage.

But for the mechanical hunters who were still watching the broadcast, their eyeballs were about to fall out.

Is this — a prosthetic surgery?!

In fact, the vast majority of mechanical hunters know a thing or two about mechanical repairs.

So they are clearer about the differences between prosthetic surgery and mechanical repairs.

This guy is actually a prosthetic doctor!?

After picking up a pile of ’scrap’, Aunt Xiang’s old face smiled like a blooming chrysanthemum, happily sharpening knives for Gao Gong.

Then with a ’clap’, a Cyan Unicorn was split into pieces.

Iron Hide was dumbfounded.

”Damn, Aunt Xiang, with so much money you’ve earned, how come you’re still rusty with your skills?”

Aunt Xiang’s old face couldn’t hold back, she cursed: ”Nonsense, is it because my hands are rusty? Can’t you see how many times this thing was chopped, it should’ve broken ages ago.”

”Breaking in my hands is better than breaking in the hands of a radiation beast.”

Eventually, out of six Cyan Reapers, only three knives were relatively intact.

But Aunt Xiang firmly stated that if chopping continued at this rate, the remaining three knives would quickly be unsalvageable.

”I think you’re just skimping on labor.”

”You’re talking nonsense!”

”Fat Xiang is such an honest man, how could he have a mom like you, must’ve been picked up.”

”I’ll beat you to death!”

At this moment, Gao Gong ignored their quarrel; he was moving his legs, either sprinting, walking fast, or stopping abruptly, constantly adapting to the motor’s power.

Suddenly, he jumped into the air from a standstill, over three meters high.

When landing, his body sank sharply, the ’weight increase’ and ’fall damage reduction’ of the sensing knee played a role.

Only slightly stiff, then he returned to normal.

This slight stiffness does not affect combat.

He glanced at the system panel

Military Micro-Motor (Sports System): A higher level body motor, with explosive force and load capacity far exceeding current market versions, Agility +2

He checked the ranks again; he had successfully slipped past Miyamoto Sanzang, currently ranking third.

”You seem to be planning something big?” Aunt Xiang suddenly asked.

”Whether it’s big or not, you’ll see for yourself.”

Gao Gong grinned and suddenly turned off the battlefield recorder.

In fact, information prompts kept appearing on the recorder, all commanding him to return.

Only as he killed more monsters, did the ’orders’ become more gentle in tone.

”Let’s go, Iron Hide, let’s wander around.”

”Oh, oh,” Iron Hide was stunned for a moment, quickly opened the car door, and then entered the driver’s seat.

”Boss, where are we going?”

”To those places that appear dark on the map.”

”Boss, those are the territories of the B-level Radiation Beast!”

”What, you want to go to the A-level territory?”

...

At this moment, far away, at Old Copper Mountain No. 314, within an abandoned mine.

Countless mechanical bio-beasts followed the tunnel, killing into the hidden biological factory, on the ground lay ripped bodies and rolling metal heads everywhere.

These were all artificial soldiers of the Knight Order.

Inside the biological factory, a ’blue octopus’ of over a hundred meters long floated in the air, in the darkness, its spiritual nodes twinkling, resembling stars.

This was the ’brain-in-a-vat’ in a state of delight.

And in the next moment, countless biological incubation chambers opened, nutrient solution poured onto the ground, and the ’biological soldiers’ walked out one by one.

These ’advanced species’ have one characteristic, which is that they have various implanted organs from radiation beasts.

In the future, among players, they have a famous nickname, humanoid beasts.

Their full name is Beastification Soldiers.

Having absorbed so many ’biological’ spirits at once, and pure ones without impurities.

This made the ’brain-in-a-vat’ very joyous.

In its basic value system, equivalent exchange is a survival rule.

It thought for a moment, and suddenly, a spiritual tentacle thick as a vat disconnected, then vanished.
