Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 89: Chapter 80: A Bright Future

Generally speaking, the attack duration of a beast tide is measured in months. In the Blue Desert, the longest beast tide lasted a full nine months.

During that beast tide, a total of nine hundred large combat robots were destroyed.

In the end, it was only by using orbital satellites for coastal bombardment that the monsters from the sea were driven back.

Although the Central Desert is not as dangerous as the coastal areas, according to the command headquarters’ calculations, the scale of this beast tide will last at least three months.

It’s not just Automobile City’s oasis fighting the beast tide, although it is the main force in the battle against the beast tide. Besides it, there are three nearby oases also resisting the beast tide.

At the front line, biological transformated warriors are shining brightly.

A blood-soaked biological warrior, wielding a giant scythe, slashes horizontally and vertically, cutting through even the strongest mechanical beasts’ armor effortlessly.

And the biological scythe in his hand, after absorbing enough life, actually began to grow again, extending from three meters to five meters. Sharp spikes protruded from the scythe’s surface, and even at the midpoint of the handle, two sharp spikes bent into a 90-degree angle, as if forming two ’prototype’ ’new biological scythes’.

Elsewhere, a total of over twenty ’White Bone Corpse Generals’ advanced against the beast tide, followed by more than five hundred ’Radiation Beast Zombies’ affected by the corpse general’s radiation field. Their eyes turned bloodshot, their flesh rotted, and white bones protruded as they crazily bit at their kin.

These ’White Bone Corpse Generals’ stood nearly three meters high, with hollow eyes that glowed white. But upon closer inspection, amid the rugged white bones, there was actually a living person housed within.

The Bone Radiation Corpse is a variant of the radiation corpse, with radiation power derived from its entire skeletal frame. These ’corpse generals’ are essentially living humans sewn inside the skeleton, akin to artificially wearing a set of bone radiation armor.

Some radiation beast commanders, upon seeing this, immediately summoned a group of elite beasts for a counterattack.

However, in the next moment, sniper bullets shot forth like bolts of electricity. Amid the chaos and intensity of the battlefield, these bullets seemingly had eyes, with almost every one hitting its mark.

More terrifying is the fact that these bullets are not made of ordinary metal but are ’biological warheads.’ Even if not killed on the spot, the toxin they release once inside the body drastically reduces the power, speed, and perception of these elite radiation beasts, causing a nightmarish physiological and mental state.

At the sniping point, each sniper held a ’biological barrel’ with one hand. Their sniper rifles grew directly from their arms, with flesh and blood vessels wriggling on the surface, achieving ’human-gun unity’ without any need for training.

The snipers’ prosthetic eyes were replaced by ’Electronic Bee Eyes.’ These eye orbs occupied nearly half of their faces, containing thousands of small eyes within, giving them visual range and precision a hundred times that of a typical prosthetic eye.

Furthermore, they come with ’electronic vision,’ allowing them to directly see the vulnerabilities of mechanical bio-beasts.

At this moment, aboard an invisible military flying device, Quasi-General Demon Mountain gazed down at the battlefield. His true purpose of coming to the front line was to witness firsthand the effects of these ’biological warriors.’

In fact, if he hadn’t seen it himself, he would have found the reports hard to believe.

A low-ranking soldier after undergoing ’biological transformation’ for less than three days displayed combat power on par with his elite robot legion, incredibly astounding!

Now witnessing it with his own eyes, he had to admit it was indeed a reality.

”Go back and inform the logistics department. I need ten standard battalions of biological warriors, and also issue legion medals to the leaders of the biological factory.”

”General, we can’t go any further, the flying species in the beast tide have been very rampant lately.”

In a visible area, over a dozen black dots appeared — the enemy’s ’Bombardment Bird Squadron.’

”Let’s head back.”

Demon Mountain’s massive hand skillfully flipped through the projection map, assessing the troop deployments of both sides.

’Maybe I can redeploy some of the robot units.’

The optimistic situation at the front gave Demon Mountain ideas.

But the next moment, electronic alarms suddenly buzzed, and red alert lights in the cabin flashed on.

”General, radiation levels have suddenly exceeded the standard!”

Demon Mountain’s expression was cold as he and the four guards around him stood up. Though not tall and somewhat short, as black liquid flowed over their bodies, they transformed into bio-fusion warriors over two meters tall within three seconds.

Their bulging muscles began to be torn by a force. In their thighs and upper arms, four energy vents quickly formed, completing acceleration in almost 0.1 seconds, and shooting out of the flying device.

The sky was covered in kaleidoscopic colors, and a ten-meter-tall ’Color Knight’ slowly took shape.

Radiation levels climbed past 100,000, continuing to rise until reaching an astonishing 320,000.

Even among B-level radiation beasts, such intensity wasn’t considered weak.

More importantly, the opponent had no physical form; it was a pure ’radiation life.’

Such energy life forms often emerged during beast tides, making them hard to guard against.

The Color Knight raised a long spear, meeting the four bio-fusion warriors appearing in mid-air.

The invisible flying device then changed course, heading toward another underground command post.

But suddenly, the sky brightened. This time it was not multicolored but four golden suns rising from below the plane.

Radiation levels skyrocketed to 680,000 in an instant.

Radiation Ecology—Golden Sun.

The pilot’s eyes burst simultaneously as he foamed at the mouth, his entire body trembling, his skin shriveling and cracking.

Demon Mountain’s tiger-shaped helmet snapped onto his head, and the Strong Beast Armor activated, opening nearly fifty high-temperature vents, ejecting ion streams, reaching supersonic speeds at an astounding Mach 3.

The next moment, the invisible plane exploded mid-air into a massive fireball.

...

The news of the battlefield commander’s injury naturally wouldn’t be spread, though the commendation ceremony proceeded smoothly.

During the war, there was no grand ceremony, not even any onlookers, the event was held in a small room in the garage.

However, Zhao Mechanism was still quite excited, the ’Level 2 Legion Medal’ is not just useful in the Public Security Corps, in all the Mechanical Legions, it is a symbol of status and the first criterion for promotion.

”Demon Mountain General is very satisfied with your work, and hopes you continue to perform excellently during the Beast Tide.”

Smiled the Colonel responsible for awarding the medal.

”Yes, I will expand production capacity as quickly as possible to achieve ten bio-synthesis camps!”

Zhao Mechanism inspected the mechanical medal with fondness, the surface of the medal was engraved with countless mechanical lives, and on the back was the shadow of a giant building, seemingly symbolizing that the Mechanical Legion is always the sword of the three Mother Cities.

However, when Zhao Mechanism’s gaze swept over a certain person, his enthusiasm immediately dissipated by more than half, replaced by a nameless fury.

He worked tirelessly for twenty-four hours without sleep to contribute greatly to the frontline, earning the medal.

Yet, this person before him, who idled and loafed around, also managed to obtain a Level 2 medal.

Okay, although these technical documents ostensibly belonged to the other side, it was impossible to truly exclude awarding them, but Zhao Mechanism felt as if he was working for someone else for free.

Gao Gong noticed the gaze, and with a smile, clapped his hands.

”Kid, well done.”

[You have activated the Reputation Mode of the faction, Friend (+300) [Mechanical Legion]]

Among the official factions, the reputation of the Mechanical Legion is relatively hard to accrue, it’s not calculated by how many enemies you kill, after all, no matter how hard you work, you can’t match the efficiency of the infinitely rechargeable combat robots.

What it calculates, is the contribution you make in a particular battle.

And the reputation of the [Mechanical Legion] is very useful, most directly, Gao Gong doesn’t have to hold onto some factory rich lady’s thigh for a titanium alloy inner skeleton anymore.

Keep working hard, young man, keep it up a bit longer and your brother will buy a BMW.

Seeing through his thoughts, Zhao Mechanism’s face darkened. Just as he was about to rebut a few words, the Colonel pulled him aside, whispering softly:

”Oasis Staff Chief Dong Li.”

At this moment, standing in front of Gao Gong was a pot-bellied middle-aged man, chatting and laughing merrily with him.

He was Dong Li.

Zhao Mechanism was stunned for a moment, the Oasis Staff Chief is the administrative officer second only to a Quasi-General, each responsible for managing an oasis.

However, the Public Security Corps has no ’administrative unit’, so they can only hang the title ’Chief of Staff’ as their rank.

This is definitely a big shot.

”Why is he here?”

”Seems like he’s here to buy equipment.”

”Buy equipment?”

Zhao Mechanism felt like he was listening to a cold joke, the Oasis Staff Chief can directly draw on supplies from the logistics department, would he really buy a rustic’s weapon?

”You haven’t read the war report these days, have you?”

The Colonel gave him a peculiar look.

Zhao Mechanism shook his head, he had been so busy these days that he barely had time for gossip.

”Take a look.”

Zhao Mechanism opened the military recorder, and his vision went black, seeing that the top of the hunting leaderboard was the ’New Cable Tribe’.

With a score reaching ten million.

”District 56 did exceptionally well, of all the battle zones, only they remained in green, and they didn’t keep anything secret, sharing their methods of countering the Beast Tide with all battle zones. To replicate their tactics, that specialized equipment is indispensable.”

”How much?”

”A million Mechanical Coins,” the Colonel paused, ”for the first batch of equipment.”

”If the effect is good, there will surely be second and third batch transactions.”

Zhao Mechanism’s vision went black.

After a long while, he gritted his teeth and said, ”Where did he get the production capacity?”

The moment he spoke, Zhao Mechanism was stunned.

He had been silently sabotaging, preventing their underground factory from conducting biological transformations, so they could only produce equipment.

So, the source was actually himself?!

Chief of Staff Dong’s enthusiasm towards Gao Gong was very apparent, no matter how formidable the Biological Transformated Warriors are, they can only supply the front lines.

The ’Monster-Attracting Divine Artifact’ + ’Special Effects Machine’ combo is the real constant!

After Chief of Staff Dong left, Gao Gong cheerfully approached Zhao Mechanism, appreciatively patting his shoulder.

”You work hard, and I make money, our future is bright.”
