Starting as a Mechanical Hunter

Chapter 54: Chapter 48: Biological Transformation (Part 2)

Logically speaking, Gao Gong is the one who understands his own plans the best. After all, without him, my ’Brain-in-a-Vat’ plan would have already succeeded.

A hundred lives used as sacrifices; if the other side were to execute me on the spot, I wouldn’t object in the slightest.

”You don’t hate me?”

”Hate you, why? The people who died were from your Cable Tribe, the one who made the brain toilet was the Little Woman. It’s got nothing to do with me.”

Professor Han’s eyes were complex: ”Really? I thought someone as righteous as you would avenge them.”

Righteous? Me?

Gao Gong was full of question marks; aren’t those two opposites?

Oh.

Gao Gong understood it.

When seeing injustice, step up with righteous action.

Repeatedly sending food to the tribe for free.

Finally, upon hearing about the mad scientist’s ’Brain Vat Experiment,’ came to rescue people without hesitation, risking his life.

By this calculation, Gao Gong was touched by himself.

What a good person!

If it weren’t for the task reward and the taming plan, he might have believed it.

Ahem, since the other side thinks this way, he shouldn’t destroy their beautiful illusion.

Gao Gong said solemnly, ”Do you think that for some seemingly beautiful vision, you can sacrifice others?”

”I,” Professor Han opened his mouth and, after a long while, said, ”Great endeavors are forged by sacrifice; that’s something someone once told me.”

”So without their consent, you treat them like guinea pigs, you don’t seem to consider them as equal intelligent life like yourself.”

”You consider yourself superior and naturally have others pave the way according to your designs.”

”But you ignore whether the tides of the times need someone like you to navigate, ignore whether your scientific achievements can support your fantasies.”

”Your accumulation in science gradually breeds the seven deadly sins of pride, greed, and vanity in the wilds of the Radiation Zone.”

”In this backward tribe, you see yourself as a god, and gods don’t make mistakes, right?”

Professor Han painfully covered his head.

”How did I fall to this point? Science shouldn’t become a new theology.”

”I am a sinner!”

Gao Gong quietly pouted.

Not only you, but with the climb of the technology tree, all non-ascended civilizations will breed a lot of this kind of thinking.

The rapid development and expansion of civilization, the emergence and popularization of new technologies, the acceleration of interstellar migration, the weakening of species identity, the emergence of new life theories.

At a certain point, the differences between people are no longer a concept within a species.

Would you consider a dog your peer?

In the development of low-level civilizations, there are really people who think this way; these people can be regime leaders, technological heroes, genetic slave owners, heads of giant corporations.

Gene improvement, biological transformation, beehive technology, super life, dimension conversion, all these will mercilessly break the connection of genes.

What remains in the end is freeing oneself from the constraints of morality and ethics.

And at that time, it’s not just a social-level rift, but a civilization-level rift.

To resolve this ’curse’, only ascension; and it’s civilization-level ascension.

With super technology covering civilization, reshape the life forms of primitive races.

Ahem, this is getting off-topic.

The reason why Gao Gong didn’t feel disgust for the other side, or even moral condemnation.

In truth, he did quite a bit of this kind of stuff in his past life too.

For example, in order to move the reproductive system into the Virtual Realm, accidentally erased a sentient race’s primary sexual characteristics.

Although later he compensated for this small mistake by sending them billions of virtual tactile machines, which were more effective and longer-lasting.

But those people actually sued him in the Civilization Court, claiming he was a civilization-extinction level criminal.

Completely irrational, this is.

What racial heritage.

Aren’t paper wives appealing?

Or turning an asexual reproducing race into a sexual reproducing one, and a sexual reproducing race into an asexual one.

Ahem, technical adjustments, completely technical adjustments, definitely not product defects.

Compared to him, Professor Han’s little maneuvers; it’s not that he looks down on it, well, he does look down on it.

On the surface, Gao Gong however said seriously, ”If death can atone for sins, then what about those who are still alive!”

”Seeking light in darkness, seeking hope in despair, isn’t that what life is about?”

”The knowledge you possess can definitely play a greater role; do you want to give up just like this?”

Professor Han took several deep breaths, eyes firm, ”I understand, at least during the time I’m still alive, I will do my utmost to help the tribe, and you.”

”Someone who has walked through the Civilization Era should be like this!”

Gao Gong nodded in satisfaction.

”Then, please introduce these things to me.”

In Professor Han’s explanation, Gao Gong gradually understood the roles of these organs.

The blade limb, a nearly two-meter-long half-wing half-blade, has biological nerve wires at the root of the wing that can be connected to a prosthetic body socket.

But the problem is, humans without enhanced neural modifications cannot support this ’high amplitude flying mode.’

So there are only two possibilities: the first is to remove its wings and turn it into a purely blade limb.

After all, the sharpness of this biological blade is no less than that of the ’Red Unicorn’.

The second is to do the opposite, remove the blade limb and perform membrane wing implantation. These wings can perform ’short-distance high-altitude gliding’ and ’enhance speed,’ equivalent to a biological model human glider.

However, wings without blade limbs are relatively fragile, and their size is too large, turning them into a ’Birdman.’

Biological armor is the shell of the Reaper Queen. Gao Gong tested it, and the armor adds at least +100, no wonder it’s so tough to cut.

If the biological armor is successfully implanted, it will be like human skin and come with a ’biological armor recovery’ special effect.

At least there’s no need to worry about it being scrapped.

If the biological transformation is very successful, it should also come with an ’enhanced repair’ skill, which, during combat, can exchange a large amount of physical strength value for faster armor repair.

The electronic tentacle acts as a radar, capable of connecting to other Mechanical Bio-Beasts.

The subcutaneous blood pump is a good thing, equivalent to a mobile blood bag.

The sensing knee needs no further mention; an ordinary Reaper weighs at least five hundred pounds, plus the gravity acceleration from falling from the sky, an ordinary knee would explode upon landing.

Among these five biological organs, Gao Gong first abandoned the ’blade limb transformation’ and ’biological armor.’

The reason is simple: both have certain mechanical elements, and if the ’mechanical transformation rate’ of the sports system exceeds 10%, it would be disastrous.

He still planned to follow the Carbon Stream.

Of the remaining three, Gao Gong first gave up the electronic tentacle, simply because it was too ugly.

Mounting a sticky tentacle might be useful later, but having a tentacle on the forehead, he didn’t want to become a cockroach man.

Moreover, the function of the electronic tentacle somewhat overlaps with the prosthetic eye, making it completely unnecessary.

The subcutaneous blood pump and sensing knee are truly excellent, not only effective but also, after biological transformation, completely undetectable.

No need to have even bionic surgery.

Professor Han then introduced three modifiable systems.

System transformations are more troublesome than organ transplants because system transformations are not like replacing parts; it’s not just cut off and replace.

It requires transforming the biological system into a system mode that the human body can adapt to, then separating the original human body tissues and installing the former, with complexities a hundred times that of organ transplantation.

Moreover, system transformation is not as intuitive as organ transformation.

Its possibilities are greater, and its risks are higher.

Gao Gong didn’t even look, he first excluded the reproductive system transformation. The reason? Does there need to be one?

”The greatest trait of the Reaper’s circulatory system is immortality, unless it’s killed by a strong hand on the spot, leaving no life force,” said Professor Han, giving Gao Gong a peculiar glance.

Gao Gong appeared unfazed.

”Theoretically, even if its head is cut off, it has a certain probability of growing back.”

”In other words, the body becomes uncritical.”

”Indeed, its circulatory system can cut off the pipeline of damaged organs at any time, forming a new circulation.”

Gao Gong touched his neck, ”So if I successfully modify it, my head could grow back if it’s chopped off?”

”Uh, that’s not possible, after all, you’re just biologically modified, not a true Reaper.”

”But if your head falls, within a short period, with battlefield surgeons performing repair surgery, it should be salvageable.”

”Oh, what else?”

”There’s also ’limb regeneration,’ of course, this kind of limb regeneration is mostly just for severed fingers. If an arm or a leg is chopped off, the effect is the same as the head.”

”In other words, micro-organ regeneration.”

”That’s correct.”

”Anything else?”

”The Reaper also has a self-mutilating phenomenon, which mostly appears in ’Arthropoda.’ Simply put, it’s cannibalism among the same species, which puts the perpetrator in an ’excited state.’”

”Does this mean if I hunt Mechanical Bio-Beasts in the future, I’ll have a state boost?”

”Theoretically, yes, but I’m not certain if this ’excitement’ is only directed at Reapers or all Mantodea mechanical bio-beasts.”

”To sum up, body becomes uncritical, micro-limb regeneration, same species hunting boost.”

”That’s correct.”

Gao Gong nodded, ”Let’s talk about the next one.”

It seemed to revisit past research years, Professor Han became uncharacteristically excited, his tone rising several pitches.

”The Reaper’s digestive system, like other Mechanical Bio-Beasts, can restore some physical strength by consuming metal.”

”Yes, metal digestion.”

”Much like the previous same species hunting, it can also produce ’excitement effect’ by digesting the corpse of the same kind.”

”Same species consumption boost,” Gao Gong clicked his tongue: ”I have always had a great appetite.”

”And its greatest characteristic is the externalization of the digestive organ.”

”Externalization, what does that mean?”

Professor Han took Gao Gong to a nutrient tank, where a segment of blade limb and a segment of claw were placed.
